Description: Put your wings and pointed hats on and come to Oatland Island Wildlife Center for a day of enchantment at our Fairy and Gnome Festival on May 6, 2017 from 10 a.m.-2:00 p.m. This fantastical day is all about the “wee folk”, and getting up close with the natural world and encouraging active, outdoor play. Children can forage in our enchanted forest for fairies; help construct a fairy village using all natural materials; show off your costume in our fairy and gnome fashion show, and have fun dancing around the May pole. There will be other enchanting activities such as face painting, games, crafts, live animal encounters and concessions. Be sure to bring your whole family to stroll Oatland’s trails and catch a glimpse of the fairies and gnomes wandering our enchanted forest! Cost for this fundraising event is regular admission as well as some activity fees. For further information, please call Oatland Island at 912-395-1517. Oatland Island Wildlife Center is a unit of the Savannah-Chatham County School System. The Center serves primarily as a field trip site for science studies. It features the 2 mile “Native Animal Nature Trail” that winds through maritime forest, freshwater wetlands and salt marsh habitats and links many native animal exhibits such as wolves, alligator and cougar. The Center is located 5 miles east of Savannah, off Islands Expressway. Oatland is open daily to the public for self guided tours from 10:00-4:00, except Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years. For more information visit:
