Description: Coastal WildScapes will present a gardening symposium to include guest speakers, as well as a native plant and garden sale, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Richmond Hill City Center in J.F. Gregory Park. // With the support of the Coastal Training Program (CTP) of the Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve (SINERR), “Open the Garden Gate: What You Can Do in a Changing World” will spread the message that gardening in concert with nature not only makes sense but makes a difference on the Georgia coast. // This year’s symposium will focus on citizen scientist programs that individuals and organizations can join to enhance coastal ecosystems and will include a greater variety of native plants, organic soil and garden art. Presentations will share perspectives on the unique natural resources of our area and address what people can do immediately to protect and conserve the vital and irreplaceable biological diversity on the coast. // The fee for the program, which includes lunch and coffee breaks, is $40 in advance and $50 at the door. Registration information for the event can be found at www.coastalwildscapes.org or by calling 912-437-1234.
