Most people don't care dear, and the ones that do already have their hands full. What I find vulgar is people that are too lazy to actually work, instead act like pimps by breeding the animals for a $buck$. What a sick way for a human being to act over a dollar. I don't understand the idea of people buying animals because they want to show off for a little while, then as you said get tired of the responsibility, dump, abuse, neglect or their little lives end up in the shelter where human beings once again has power over them to determine their faith. Isn't mankind wonderful? I wonder if God regrets not giving the gift of life to just the animals!
You can by my home in Lake George (P-L-E-A-S-E) and live around disgusting innerbred rednecks, their innerbred offspring and drug buddy kinfolk who get their kicks dogfighting, watching it, or too cowardly (the same ones that will tell you how religious they are) to say or do anything about it. Oh, I'm certain 'GOD' is angry, based on past history can you imagine what he has in stor?
I completely agree with you, Nicole! It's sickening when people move and/or say things like, "Well, I can't afford to take my dog with me." Well, then it looks like you can't afford to move. You DON'T just not take your pet with you. A pet is a companion and a friend, not something you just drop off when it's no longer convenient. I'd live out of a tent or a in mud hut in order to save money before I'd give away my dog. And if I "had" to move somewhere that I couldn't take him, well, I just wouldn't be moving there. It would absolutely not be up for debate.
Look at how many end up homeless because of the excessive breeding during the holidays. I agree with you June, it's selfish and vulgar.
I have to agree that it is a shame that some people just don't get it when it comes to the poor animals that get left behind. It seems to be something that happens very often in our Military town. As for taking them to the Humane Shelter...they don't take the animals. You can't drop them off there. If you own the animal it is your problem. I wish something could be done to make it possible for an owner to take the animal to a shelter instead of leaving them behind to starve or to be thrown out on the streets to get hit by cars!
Also,I would like to make a comment regarding people who fight dogs. This is ILLEGAL. Call the police if you know this is happening. Please help the animals that can not help themselves. If you see one on the side of the road...please pick it up and get it out of harms way. Animal Control will take the animal if you found it.
Please don't forget the Blanket Drive on Oct. 12th from 1-5 at Walmart. Our Rescue Group is collecting them for the outdoor cages at Animal Control.
If you would like to help please call the number below.
Thanks for taking the time to read my comments.
Sincerely,

Realtorlady, I just sent Animal Control one of the large beds they ask for in the article from kuranda.com, so they should be getting it shortly. I will also drop off a blanket or two (will check to see what I have) at your drive or take them by animal control. Maybe you could see if Walmart would match you on blankets or fleece purchased from them. I will send you an e-mail with a contact name at Walmart that can possibly help you with it.
Illegal, don't you mean CRUEL? Absolutely report dogfighting, however, I recommend reporting it to the Chaplin of the Georgia Sheriff's Association. If you report it locally you will have a certain risk the participants are related or party with members of the court house.
Dearest JuneBug,
Bless your heart! Thank you so much for your donation of the Kuranda bed. With the beds and the blankets, the dogs will get s small reprieve from the winter weather. We are looking for a donation of an out building to store them in. Jason, from Hinesville Home Center is checking on that for us. What a great idea about asking Walmart for the match of our donated blankets!!! Any and all suggestions are appreciated. I look forward to meeting you at the Blanket Drive.
Sincerely,
Cindy Lou Duvall
Dear WhatsHotLips,
Yes, it is so cruel it makes me cry. I was showing a house and it had a little bit of land with it..we walk to the back of the property line and on the property next door was a sight to break your heart. The man had all these beautiful pit bull dogs chained to trees with huge locks to weigh on their necks(I guess to make them have stronger muscles for fighting )they had no water and it was really hot! I freaked out. I went to the mans house and told him the dogs had no water. He did at lease do that. Then I called the police. This property was right over the Liberty County line and Long County has no... Animal Control. It was horrible. They said they would call the Humane Shelter. This was a terrible day for me and my Clients. I can't believe that Long County has no one to come to the defense of these animals. I wish I could chain that man to a tree with no water and a big lock on his neck! I would love to follow him sometime to where he goes to fight them and then maybe something would really get done. Want to go on a "Stake Out"? I'm serious. Cruel in an understatement but yes, I should have used that word too!
Sincerely,
Cindy Lou Duvall
I'm not sure if you know what you would be in for in the back woods of Liberty and Long counties. Remember the movie "Deliverance" with Burt Reynolds, some of these rednecks don't speak english that you can understand, sounds like a "wad" of ---- if you get my drift. You already must know the mentality is substandard to be fighting dogs in the first place. Give the IDIOTS a little booze and crack, along with the broken down gene pool and they become volitile. You would be in a position watching a dogfight to video tape for evidence and could not immediately do anything about it, could you handle watching animals suffer in sever pain or til death?
It sounds like you have more information about what the ins and outs of the law are. I could not stand by and watch. It would kill me. I thought that the police would put a stop to it as soon as it was reported. I guess I am naive when it comes to all this. It is all so heartbreaking.
No, I have information on who they are, how and why their being protected. The only way I would take a chance alerting law enforcement now, because of past experience dealing with them locally, is video tape to take it to an outside source.
Wow, This is so much more than I was aware of...I talked to someone that has contacts with Peta. I am going today to take some action. If I don't come back...tell them where to look for my body.
If you find a good contact through that organization willing to do something, please let them know not to trust or rely on local authorities. If it is someone that can do something contact me here and I will give them information.
If your dog has been stolen, report it to Animal Control and the Sheriff's department in both Bryan and Liberty County. In the Fleming area, dogs are being stolen for the purpose you mention...dog fighting. And unless people start bombarding our officials with phone calls and demanding investigation, nothing will ever be done for the innocent animals! Dog fighting needs to be made more into a public issue because it's going on a lot more than most people realize! Any friends or family needs to be warned to stop this immediately - Georgia's new laws carry a lot stiffer penalties - thank God. Now Law Enforcement just needs to take it seriously! Please report suspicious activity!!!!
Realtorlady - please report the pit bulls you saw to the Long Co Sheriffs dept on suspicion of dog fighting. Your description of heavy chains on many pit bulls is a big red flag of dog fighting. Go to SPCA.com if you don't get help locally. They are the same organization who busted Michael Vick. You can also go to http://www.pet-abuse.com/pages/cruelty_d... to view locations by state of convictions. But without people doing the initial reporting, the cycle will never stop.
