For those of you who attended and supported the 5th Annual Blues & BBQ event this last weekend, I send a big thank you. Not only did you come out in large numbers to enjoy the great BBQ, BBQ contest, performances artist, and GREAT food - but many of you took the time to make sure that we knew how much you appreciated our efforts. I cannot tell you how much that means to us.

Typically in such a setting, we are inundated with, "youshoulddo's" from well meaning individuals, but that was not experience last night. We do appreciate the comments and suggestions we receive, but again last night's crowd was nothing but encouraging and even offered many congratulations on a successful event.

Truth be told - regardless of the amount of planning that is done in these types of events, regardless of the quality of food, music, or other entertainment, the success of any event ultimately lies with the support of the community.

So, again - thank you Hinesville and surrounding communities for your support. I would also like to personally and publicly thank the Hinesville Area Arts Council and committee members Leah Poole, John Crowley, Tom Hickey and the many event volunteers who gave countless hours.

If you are reading this blog and would like to become involved with the edification of the arts in our great community, we would love to have you join the HAAC. We meet on the first Monday of every month at 6:30 pm.

Photos of Blues & BBQ will be posted later this week.

I echo Vicki's sentiments and add one correction. The Hinesville Area Arts Council meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m., not Monday.

For an excellent video of the event check out the Courier's main webpage as Pat has one posted.

For more information on how to become involved with the Arts Council feel free to email hdda@coastalnow.net or lpoole@uwce.org.

Thanks!

Thanks for the correction Leah. I blame it on my pure exhaustion. If anyone reading this blog has comment on ways we can grow the event, please let us know as we will meet soon to discuss the event and the direction we would like to take next year.

I think the event was a smashing success. I think the Hinesville Area Arts Council along with all of their Sponsors did a fantastic job of organizing such a wonderful night downtown. It's nice to have events like this, right in our own backyard. Thanks!
