I go out almost everyday and do some type of scenic photography whether it is of the trees, landscapes, clouds, sun, the moon or even star clusters. It's very hard to see the star clusters, you can only see those on a clear night. There are actually star parties that you can throw to have competitions with locating different objects in space. For example the Messier Marathon is a good party to throw.. You can print or type the different Messier objects and compete in locating them to see who can locate them the fastest. The term name Messier comes from Charles Messier. He made a catalog of all his objects and today these objects all start with M, to show relevance to his last name.. For example The Great Globular Cluster in Hercules is (M13) for Messier object 13.. We also have another name for it which is called NGC 6205. This is one of many, many clusters which contains hundreds of thousands of stars.. You can look up Messier object M13 and the many other objects too. Anyways, a good chart will let you know what is visible from your location.

Ok, so if you want to capture pictures of some things out space it isn't hard at all.. Just make sure what you want to see is VISIBLE. Once you have located an object you want to take a photograph of then you focus the telescope on that object. Once you are focused, you can buy a digital camera attachment to attach to your telescope or you can attach your own digital camera. You do not want to tape your digital camera or bond it because it will damage the lens and weigh it down. I just hold the camera. What I then do is zoom with the telescope, add a second lens, zoom the digital camera and then you have a clear or focused image of the moon. You can also film a movie of the moon in the same manner. Just remember that results vary based on the quality of the camera, the quality of the telescope and the experience you have with taking these kinds of photos. The only bad picture you will get is if there is no picture at all..:).. Once you get any pictures, cherish them, share them and enjoy the project that you participated in. I don't have kids, but this would be something of a great thing to do with your children and even friends.. This is a great hobby of mine.. I love it..

It's nice to read about a young person involved in something positive. I also enjoy what nature has offered us, it's unfortunate where I live (Lake George Subdivision) most people are destructive and disrespectful to the environment. The abundance of wildlife has left due to the everyday noise of thumping car audios, constant fireworks day and night, guns being discharged almost daily, people yelling because of a fight or loud party, some of the fire volunteers blasting sirens unnecessarily within the subdivision, big tire trucks flying down the community roads running over whatever is in their path. Can you imagine the noise with a constant of two or three, four, five, six, seven of these things going on at once in many different households in a community of over 1500 people. So as you can tell you are rare, at least in comparison to what I have seen here. I use to see wild herrings, fox tail squirrel, owls, deer, large endangered redheaded woodpeckers, bald eagles, an abundance of the more common species, not so much of anything anymore, it's sad when people prefer drugs and dogfighting over having the opportunity to appreciate their natural environment. I wish you well and I enjoy your photos. Do you ever take pics of the more unusual like early morning fog rising from a lake, or rain coming down on one side of a road while the sun shines on the other, etc.,?

Thank you :) The suggestions of alternate kinds of scenic photography has me eager to capture it. :) Glad you like nature as well, that's great! :)On another note, I am sorry to hear of the individuals who participate in your communities destruction. Sounds like their minds have some blockage prohibiting them to respect the environment. They should relax for a bit, take a deep breath, and enjoy nature while pushing towards quiet serenity.

Christina, I love every photo you have posted and anxiously await the photographic memoirs of your next outing. Have you thought about exhibiting your collection? I feel the community would be very receptive.
