Have y'all heard what Jack Kingston said on the occasion of Sen. McCain's naming of his running mate? Here it is:

"John McCain has hit a homerun. He's chosen a running mate who will excite the base, bring in swing voters and who offers a fresh perspective on America's future.
"Unlike Beltway Joe Biden, whose pajamas have cufflinks, here's a woman who has run a business, is an avid hunter, and an outside-the-beltway government reformer. Gov. Palin has bucked old school politics and remained true to her upbringing throughout her career — seeking to root out corruption, defending the sanctity of life, and raising a down to earth family with American values.
"Palin's faith, values, leadership experience, and fresh look will bode well for Georgia and for our Nation. I wholeheartedly endorse and support John McCain's pick for the next Vice President of the United States."

The "cufflinks" remark reminds some of us older Georgians of "Cufflinks Carl" Sanders, governor 1963-67. Gov. Sanders was a moderate for his time, the first governor of the New South, some said. He defeated a segregationist to win his first term, but when he sought a second term in 1970 he was opposed by a segregationist he could not defeat -- Jimmy Carter.
The Carter campaign depicted the contest as between the rich lawyer (Cufflinks Carl) and the poor, man-of-the-people farmer.
Few of us bothered to note that the net worth of the poor farmer was very, very close to that of the rich lawyer.

I hope Congressman Kingston will continue to provide “color commentary, especially during the upcoming GOP convention.

Mrs. Palin may be hot, like guns, and is a true conservative but she isn't running for President. The senil old fart McCain is. He is a run of the mill politician and Kingston is in the same boat.

Sam,
You said it "senil(e) old fart!!" What happens if he kicks the bucket? Then wouldn't Mrs. Palin actually be first in line to be the first woman President? This is a really interesting election for a change!!

Aren't they all run of the mill politicians? Do you really believe any of them care about you? Thousands without health insurance, elderly unable to pay for needed medications, raise taxes so they can enjoy elegant dinners while citizens go hungry, will you get the social security (what's in a name) you paid in? or your childern? Have you heard about any politicians not getting a pay raise, or not having personalized health care? Do you really put your faith in these people or do you pray as most do and put your faith in God?

It is far from an interesting election. It is frightening. We have a marxist running against a fascist. I don't care if we have somebody with plaid skin who is a practicing Druid in the Oval office as long as he or she or it governs by the US Constitution instead of some BS party doctrine.
