I assume you are writing about Long County, since your earlier blog referred to that county. I have not had dealings with educators there concerning my children's education. But I have dealt with them when news comes up in their schools. And they, like those I've dealt with in Liberty County and elsewhere, are competent professionals who do put the interest of the children first. You do have exceptions, but on the whole they know they are there for the children. You also have rules set in place to keep order and discipline in schools that will hurt individual students and often keep faculty members from doing what they may think is right.
Sounds like you did find one person who cares, "YOU!" Have you addressed the PTA about your concerns, talked with the Superintendent, written a letter to the Board of Education? There are formal procedures in place to address all parental grievances in the education system!
thanks for the comments. I know I care and will always care.
But i still don't feel they care and I don't see them as professionals either. Unless you have had a child submitted to humiliation and your pleas to them to listen and stop what is going on and has been for years, you can't seem to understand the pain and anguish that has been caused. Thank you
I work in the school system and I totally agree with you. We have teachers that don't care one bit about our students. I go above and beyond my role to help my students that I work with and I love them as if they were my own, but with the new people at the board, they are bringing in teachers that know their left from their right and can't see front to back. It is a really bad situation. The discipline really stinks and our children are getting away with murder because discipline is not enforced at home and then they come to school and nothing is done to them to make them accountable for their actions.
We are involved parents and we work with the teachers who seem to care. We are constantly trying to talk to our children about school, but when they lie to you and treat you like an outsider, what can you do? We have learned that the wonderful teachers that care leave and they really don't want parents involved. I will say this, don't let them run you out. You,as a parent(s) must stand and fight or they will win. These are your children you gave birth to them and raised them not the state. Protect your child at all costs
smlilly I know how you feel. My child have had a problem with a person in the Long County schools for many years. I have went to a few people about him. I was told not to worry because he is retiring this year. When I talked to the superintendent he just blew me off. This man have been allowed to pick on my child and other children for many years without getting into any trouble. I know for a fact that many parents have reported having problems with him.
I wish other parents would come forward and try to stop some of the things happening in that school system . it seems as though we fight against the good old boy system. You are lucky that your problem is going away. I really believe if enough parents weren't afraid of causing waves and start standing up things would change. Thank you saw2sam for your understanding of the problems I and my family have faced.
