Recently Coastal Courier ran a story in which they disclosed some of our local officials wages. This was based on a 2009 Wage and Salary Comparison Data. It shows the City of Hinesville an annual wage of $145,473 to the City Manager Mr. Edwards, $103,548 to the Assistant City Manager Mr. Howard, $121,742 to the County Administrator Mr. Brown, $121,924 to the Downtown Development Autority CEO Mr. Toiley just to name a few.
How can a City population 30,152 (City Limits) and Liberty County population 58,491 justify these outrages wages to the Taxpayer, when the City's biggest Revenue (Income) is Property Tax 27.53% next to Sales Tax 23.21%?
They are supposed to be working for us!!!! Afterall our taxes are paying these outrages wages. Instead we are working for their lavish wages and wasteful spending of our Taxpayer's money. Such as Liberty Transit (annual cost $1.5 Mil), The New City Hall ($7 Mil), The new Public Works Bldg ($3 Mil), Bryant Commons Lease (not a donation), Bryant Commons (gestimated at $8 Mil and cost is rising) just to name a few of latest fiasco's. Has any of thIS created new jobs? The answer is NO. Infact furlows, raising of property taxes, layoffs where discussed to balance the negative Budget.
ALL of US (Taxpayers) need to speak up!!!! THIS HAS TO STOP!!

Has anyone walked around the construction site next to the police station?

I did and from my observation it looks like 80% of the workers are Spanish speaking. I wonder if they are all legal.

My Friend, please don't push the envelope too far.

Why not? I have nothing against Spanish speaking workers as long they are legal.

Watchfuleye,

In regards to these Executive Wages, how much do you think they should be paid? I don't believe that they are over paid considering the positions that are currently being held. If I am not mistaken, these are degreed professionals woring in their craft. Comparing these positions to positions in other Cities, some of these Executives are under paid.

Iknowyou,

They could be legal. Nothing to suggest that they are not legal is it?
