Note: Not all the pictures seem to be loading at the end of this post. I don't know why. I have verified the urls, but maybe Coastal is limiting the number of images I can link to. You may view them correctly at our site http://www.hinesvilleonline.net.
So I decided to make a review on Linux software and maybe will continue in the future. The software is KEduca and is found on KDE Linux systems and should run on all Window Managers and Desktop Managers. I'm using Gnome and it works just fine.
KEduca is an educational application that allows you to create tests and using another included application, allow an individual to take the exam. I decided to use my wife's nursing school book as the test subject.
Putting the test together
So to begin we need to load the application and take the test. I head over to my "Applications" menu and open KEducaBuilder.
Here I enter some information about my wife's test. Title, entered a new category and selected the type of examination I was adminisering. Left the default language as US and entered some author information.
I simply enter a questio and click “Next.
In this screen I am entering the right and wrong selections for the tester. To make the answer correct use the “Value: drop down list and set it as “True and false obviously for an incorrect answer. Click “Finish.
The test is complete. All that is left is to save it and open it in the test taking software.
When saving it will ask if you want to copy images with the application. Choose to do so. This will store any images you used in your test file.
Taking the test!
Now we open Keduca. The test taking part of the software package.
Opening the test.
Test loaded. Getting nervous.
The test has begun... oh my!
And after all that I got the answer wrong. Bummer.
Saving the results
Another great feature of Keduca is the ability to save results to html format. This allows for a quick upload to a server for students to review their results at a later date.
Viewing the results.
Conclusion
I like Keduca. Though it isn't exactly advanced it does have more than enough options to cover most basic test taking needs. This can be useful for smaller schools (or larger for that matter), home users wanting to take a test before the final and of course churches and other non-profits.
It's simple and usable and does what it says.
