We just returned from vacation and I wanted to tell you about some of it.
We stayed at a wonderful Bed and Breakfast in Montezuma, Georgia called Traveler’s Rest in the Civil War Room.

The food was extraordinary! We purchased the Valentine Package so we had one dinner and two breakfasts. Among other things in these three meals we had Potato and Onion Torte, Chocolate Truffle Torte, Quiche, Blueberry Crepes. Serious food.
We also visited the Andersonville Civil War Prison site at Americus, Georgia.

There at the same site is the National Prisoner of War Museum that is one of the most interesting yet chilling museums you will ever see. The barbarity of what people do/have done to each other in prison camps is astounding. However, the human spirit perseveres through faith, the will to live, the power of memory and ingenuity, family and friendship.

Finally, we also had the privilege to eat at the Mennonite Restaurant called Yoder’s Deitsch Haus. It is country cooking that made me nostalgic for my Great Grandmother. The food is like a dream it is so good.
