I do have questions. Not that I agree or disagree, I'm just not sure I understand your explanation of reasoning for the County policy about AC being whacked... The arguement that licensed rescues are blocked...
I know that County doesn't want people in the facility (because it's a miserable situtation for the animals)... I don't approve of not being able to walk through, but there is also a safety concern (which is what is being used to block the public)... As for licensed rescues, that seems to boil down to the affordability of insurance (I understand that, it's high expecially for a non-profit)...
I'm trying to bring all the issues up, so I can understand what (exactly) is going on... What I do find questionable is after all these years the County has JUST decided to implement such a policy of insurance... My understanding of what you are saying is that was to prevent so many rescues (people) from having access out of fear they would start to speak out about the conditions of the facility... That is not what I understand the County is using as their position on this... It had to do with a mishap of ownership of someone's dog...
What I will say is I am sure the facility is in rough shape... Too many animals having to be housed in bad conditions, going without (bedding, cleanliness, medical, food, warmth or whatever) at one time or another... I am also sure the County doesn't want many rescues within the facility, because of public stated gripes... BUT...
And this is where I start to have a hard time with understanding (based on the above)... There is a way with some rescues willing to transfer and there are many animals in that facility in a bad way...
I know you are wanting change to drop the insurance policy... I know you are wanting a new facility... But as it is you actually can get the animals out... So what exactly do you want?... Freedom of total access?...
WHL stated...."That is not what I understand the County is using as their position on this... It had to do with a mishap of ownership of someone's dog..."
WHL: That is just not truth. I'm sorry you have been lied to, but it is well documented that the county contract was BEFORE any such "incident". Anyone who knows me, knows I HAVE THE DOCUMENTS. I brought it up to Mr. Sprinkle in my meetings with him this week. He didn't want to hear it, but even so, facts are facts and truth is truth.
So let's not blame this on one person who is being played out here as a scapegoat by the county; a false justification. Let's come and see the truth.
I'd be happy to address any remaining questions and issues you have at the meeting on Weds. I always bring the evidence to the P4C meetings, which speaks for itself. You can have full access to it. If you, or others are truly interested in trying to get clarification and the facts, I'll see ya there.
WHL: We have lots of info for you and everyone that comes to our meeting. A lot is going on behind the scenes please come so you can be informed.
I'm not at all saying you are wrong with this... I'm ONLY trying to find out what you are ACTUALLY persuing to change and why... If I don't know, I can't stand up for it...
Read some of the statements on the website www.people-4-change.net
We will also be discussing the out come of our recent open records request.
I just checked out the website... GOOD JOB!... I can see the need for change within the facility and that is a cause worth fighting for... But I'm not quite sure if the route being taken is going to resolve that particular problem... Mandatory change within the AC facility and the County contract are separate issues... although of one facility... JMO! I guess I'm not understanding the connection of how you plan to go about getting change for different issues... It seems lumped together to me... Not sure if I explained myself...

OK...Well, I'll wait a little while to be given an opportunity to listen... That's all I can guarantee for now...
Again,
I have RSVP'd to the meeting and have been told that I should not come and bring the others that would like to come join. I understand this to be a public meeting, correct?
Last meeting, was the same.. You decide.
There are atleast 8 that would like to attend the 9/1 meeting, there were 11 of us last time.
Sandra
I appreciate your interest in my meeting, however, due to our inability to work together, you should pass on this one.
Dawn Strykr
DStrykr, you call this organization a meeting of PEOPLE for change but then in the letter to Sandra above you call it MY meeting. sounds like you are power crazy and interested in promoting yourself.
SMF, I don't see anything wrong with you showing up... My advice however, is if you do not agree with what is going on then leave... You and everyone else knows you two do not get along, and I'm sure DS would probably prefer to move forward with what she is doing then argue... No offense intended, because if I do not agree with it, my plans are to do just that... Get up and walk my happy a** right out the door... Wheather I agree or not, doesn't mean a s**t to someone else trying to do what they believe to be right... So the best thing I can do for all willing to take on a fight if I do not agree is leave them alone... In other words, don't show up to start some c**p. Do it because you want change as well... I'm not directing this at you personally, but to all in general...
WHL I dont like people4change attitude. it seems like she wants to be important and for everyone to listen to her. be wary of people like that.
WHL: I went into the meeting for the exact reason as you. To see what changes everyone is talking about. I had no intent to even speak, but as with all meetings, me just showing up creates attitude. We all realize every facility could use change. I am not agrueing that point. I agree, with some things. But the whole truth is not represented by "the people".
And, it was just as what it represents itself to be against..
OPEN MEETING ACT- HELLO! Just as the rights have been claimed to be violated, I think everyone at the meeting realized that my rights were violated tonight.
SECRECY- hmmm, if you are speaking the truth and have nothing to hide, then why ask anyone to leave. Stand your ground and defend it.
LHS meetings are always open, since, I have been president, no one has ever been asked to leave. Just because they disagree with me or what we are doing, is not a reason to not listen to what they are saying, their opinion is just that.. And it gives us a new perspective.
As I see it, I am not welcome because, I do know what goes on. I am there. And they know that I will not listen to the lies without speaking up.
Ask me, I have nothing to hide, I do not work for the county, I will not hide under a hat or behind a computer. Anyone at that meeting that wants to hear the rest of the story, I would be glad to tell you what I know.
I have been there through good and bad and intend to be there through this too.
I will not leave the animals to fend for themselves, to die without even trying to help them.
But, obviously, that is where I differ from others, I am there for the animals, not for personal gain, or for personal vendettas like others.
The offer still stands: Any rescue that really wants to help the animals, please contact me at LHS, we are in the process of establishing good relationships with rescues that really want to help. Actually spoke with someone today, that I believe, has their heart in the right place and can put all drama aside to help us get some of the animals out of there.

SF, now you know I got an attitude of my own... and very capable of standing on my own two feet... Organizations can deliver in large numbers what 'one' can't... I know DS comes across as a hard a** at times, I have even butted heads with her... Honestly though I get the impression she is really a meek individual with a large heart for animals... I don't know if I will get along with her totally or anyone else in the group, but I'm there in hopes of helping animals rights... And for that reason alone I believe we can get along...
SF, I wasn't expecting you to be ask to leave, but I do see by this comment "as I see it, I am not welcome because, I do know what goes on. I am there (meaning access to the AC facility). And they know that I will not listen to the lies without speaking up.", why they are leary of your intentions...
And this is my pov... I do have concern of what is reported going on within the facility... enough so, that I agree with having public access... I also have concern that the County Administrator and Assistant doesn't even care enough to go in the facility on a regular basis to check on the animals welfare... I'm also offended that the Commissioners don't care enough to answer to the citizens (I do expect when the s**t hits the fan, they will make a peep show)... And that the animals are being taken out of bad situations and housed in a worse situation...
DS had alot of information taken from county records as to the number of animals and the dollar amounts or I should say lack of being spent on their welfare (medical/food) going in that facility... It doesn't add up that the animals are being provided for...
Anyway, having access to the facility will certainly tell the truth and that should be satisfing to everyone...
WHL: Opportunity is waiting, they have the offer just as it has been offered to all other rescues.
I do have access, just as they would if they agreed to the terms that they fought so hard to get. They wanted the playing field leveled, and now it is, they don't like it.
Well, neither did I. But for the bigger picture, which is for the animals, we decided to work with the changes. We have and it has worked out for the betterment of the animals.
As for the food, the food is donated to us, and as one of the "trade offs" we share the food with all of the animals housed at that property.. Actually, we shared with more than that. We have shared with several rescues and good samaritans when we had any extra to spare.
The propane budget story is incorrect, the water story is incorrect, the food story is misleading and even the veterinarian care is incorrect. But, we could go tit for tat all night and into tomorrow, but it still will not add up to justification of the animals deaths because they did not get their way.
I know this will bring upon change, like I said, we all realize change can be a good thing. I look forward to change in the future, actually was discussing future changes today in a meeting. Regardless, with or without their help and input, changes will happen.
As for the animals, DS, PB, JL, or anyone else can say anything about what goes on out there, because they no longer come out, they "no longer want to help Liberty County". They "no longer will help any animals in Liberty County" until they get their demands met.
So, they are holding the lives of the animals hostage, while they throw a fit.. I find that really sad that they will do that.
If you would like access, come out, I will be glad to give you the 10 cent tour. You can see for yourself..
There were people out there just today, under the tunnel, yes, the public, looking for their lost pet. So, again, half truths. It is not blocked from the public. Can the public roam the facility freely? No, that would be a liability risk. It is the same reason why, the public does not freely roam our side of the facility, because it could be a possible liability.
As far as them being leary of my intentions, well, if it were all true, I would be their greatest fan. But, it is not, so it is hard to see "a change" based on that.
If you would like more answers or explanations, I would be glad to share the information that I have with you, or anyone asking for it.
Thanks again and Good Night
Thank you, that is a nice response... I have some of the same thoughts... I can see right now, going into the facility would be a conflict of the change they are fighting for... That however, still doesn't satisfy MY guilt of leaving the animals there... I understand what they are doing, but I'm afraid of the wait for how long it will take dealing with Liberty County Administration... I will say from the attendence of this meeting and talking with others there, alot are concerned how the animals within the AC facility is being cared for... I think alot of people is very serious about moving forward with this, moreso then I have ever seen come together before in this county... So hopefully change will be sooner then later, and the County officials will start paying attention... I hope this will work out very soon... God Bless...
After my last post at 03:54, I sent Dawn a PM asking her for some answers... I really hope I haven't been put in a situation of false hope... I stated that nicely, not exactly what I was thinking...
