These soldiers need help...
On further inspection of
Anysoldier.com, I came across another entry, (which is too large for entry here) from a SPC Devin T. Shaw, a Chaplain's Assistant from Georgia on June 11, 2010 wrote of 500 soldiers' need in Afghanistan. He wrote, "In our movement from Fort Stewart, GA to Afghanistan, our shipping containers were broken into, and all of our stuff was stolen." Of course, he wrote more but it is more of the same news as the below information and what would be appreciated from anyone who can supply help. I have no idea on which specific units are affected by loss by theft, but he spoke of 400 males and 100 females in need of various supplies. You can view his entry at
http://anysoldier.com/WhereToSend/. Just click on this soldier's name next to the date of 11 June.
When you go to
http://anysoldier.com/WhereToSend/, the soldiers' names are listed to the left of the browser screen. You have to go to the specific date I listed here on each of these soldiers accounts of their situation to see exactly what they are saying and what I left off here. I didn't leave anything of PVT Aponte's entry, but I did omit the majority of SPC Shaw's entry.
I'm concerned by their plight and any soldier's plight. No one can say that they don't care about our men and women, in uniform, in harm's way. I can't contribute anything at this time (I may be able to contribute later.), except for my alerting the public, but there is hopefully someone out there who cares to help and does something, anything. I found this one (below) before I found the above entry made (mentioned above by SPC Devin T. Shaw) on June 11th, 2010. I found I couldn't read more until today, June 19th, 2010 and I found this entry from SPC Shaw tonight at 9:30pm. Even though, I mentioned these soldiers especially, there are other soldiers that would like items sent to them...these soldiers are represented on the same website that these entries came from.
Prior Blog Entry
I've read many literary articles on the internet, since I got a break recently. One article led me to this one and I felt like I should mention this to the public. May be you can help this military unit. I am not connected to this unit, but I am concerned by their plight. I can't contribute anything at this time (I may be able to contribute later.), except for my alerting the public, but there is hopefully someone out there who cares to help... This entry was found on

12 Jun 2010:
To whom it may concern,
My name is PVT Aponte, Luis with the 92nd Engineer Battalion stationed in FOB Sharana, Afghanistan. Today my company received a long awaited deployment container. This container was packed 3 months ago back in the US in Ft. Stewart, GA. Unfortunately for us, the container was broken into in Pakistan before reaching us in Afghanistan. $55,000 worth of personal items were stolen out of the container. When we received and opened the container this morning it was bare and empty. Items included winter clothing, office supplies, Xbox's/PS3's, TV's, laptop computers, cameras, pictures, hygeine items, iPods, cd's DVD's and lots of snacks/comfort foods. For some of my fellow soldiers it was all they had for recreation on this deployment. It is difficult to make calls or try and notify anyone about this while we are here. If there are any agencies/organizations who are capable or willing to help out our unit recover even a small portion of their personal items, it would be greatly appreciated if they could lend a helping hand. The 92nd Engineer Battalion HHC ops greatly appreciates your attention. Thank You.
THANK YOU To all your comments...hopefully, the average person does do their homework. Any and all comments are appreciated. If this situation is not as terrible as it written above than I apologize. What if it is exactly what has happened? Those soldiers are going to have a very difficult time doing their duty as specified by the United States Government. No human being deserves a more difficult time, because they are doing their duty in a country less fortunate than ours. If this entry above is accurate, said soldiers will be serving in that country until June/May 2011.
Also, I dig in my pocket and spend money on donations to the less fortunate on things that are not this expensive. What a person decides to spend on others is their own business. I don't advocate spending for the sake of spending. It's okay to be strapped for cash in this recession and in the face of this travesty. I am more concerned in alerting anyone who can help...if only I would find out the people directly involved with helping the soldiers who reached out on
anysoldier.com. If someone wanted to do something about this, they could/should.
If the Government organization responsible for this unit isn't aware of this situation, hopefully this blog entry made them aware that they need to check on their people, since this entry above was placed in a public website (that gives the appearance of being on the level). The author of this entry at the top of this blog entry appears to have asked organizations for help. By all means check with this unit's rear detachment and see if help is needed. Yes, we are in a recession and it is always a good thing to do what our conscience tells us to do. My conscience told me to add this blog to this website. If this is a hoax, I will find out, soon, since the American Public has a way of shooting down this kind of alert... If it is not, we all just saved 515 United States Army Soldiers (this Number of People is listed in the entries for whom PVT. Luis R. Aponte/SPC Devin T. Shaw is a contact for) from waiting a LONG time for aid.
