Just as any business is no matter if in government, or a business one owns in any city or town, the success of such business depends on the leaders and its employees and how they interact with each other to be successful at every level.

With that being said let's look at government such let's say city business. Certain positions are filled for paid employees who help things run smoothly on or behalf by city government most likely through the Human Resources office for the city.

There are however other positions such as the mayor, city council members who get those positions by its citizens voting for them to be in those positions. Let's look at city council representatives for instance. They have to apply to run for their district and voted in by us the citizens of the various districts we live in.

To learn more as to the requirements for applying for your district and what you need to know and do make a trip to city hall and ask to see the city clerk to point you in the right direction so you can read up on the requirements to run for that office as well as the guidebook or booklet that educates you as to what is expected of you if you decide to run once you are voted in for those four years in representing the citizens of your district. Also ask to read the code of conduct city employees need to know to conduct themselves in proper manners as well as things how to get your current district council member to hold town meetings and at those town meetings get input from folks they represent so they can bring it before city council meetings which meets every two weeks.

Make an effort to try and attend these meetings twice a month if at all possible so you can get a feel of how government is run and also see how your representatives vote for or against certain things brought up for a vote. Also ask to see the district map to see where the lines are for district you are in. If you should choose to run for that office one day you will need to know where your citizens live in order for you to promote yourself to get their vote.

If your current district council person is not active in your community to keep you informed of what they are accomplishing on your behalf in way of district townhall meetings, newsletter or other methods start putting pressure on that person to do so and keep each of us in the loop. Remember we voted them in and we can fire them when re-election time comes around if they are not active in our community and keeping us informed.

We elect our mayor and city council representatives in the district we live in. So hold your city council representative accountable and DEMAND district town hall meetings at least once every quarter and demand they be proactive in the district they represent with the people living there. IF THEY WON'T come re-election time tell them YOU'RE FIRED by voting them out and vote someone in that will get involved with the community members of that district.

Good post and well written; we do a great job of complaining about everyone and everything. We don't do so well being actively engaged in at the very least our local politics and effectively express our discourse in the right forums. Great post
