What have we learned in 2,065 years?

"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance"
Cicero 55 BC

It seems to me that our elected officials at all levels of government are (as Nero did) fiddling as the nation burns down.

I'll bet that only a few generations ago something of a revolution would have already started.

I hope you will all read the above and carefully consider it's message.

I always find it angering when a public official makes comments like "we all are going to have to make some sacrafices" My question to them is what sacrafice you and your own family are making. Is your son or daughter having to attend a collage that was not thier first choice because the family cannot afford it? Is thier medical needs in jeapordy due to wide sweeping generic legislation? Please provide me with what sacrafices you are making......The real shame of it all is our nation uses the constition and public office to further thier own interests. Not trying to sound too tea party here but it is frustrating. When our fore fathers made great personal sacrafices as they belived so deeply in the prospect of true freedom. The concept of politics then was centered around actually serving as in public servent. It amazes me when we say we have a global debt considering we have rebuilt numerous nations over and over with no return on actual money back to our country. Today marks the 50th annaversary of the innaguration of JFK. The quote of asking not what can your country do for you, what can you do for your country needs to be resounded all throughout the land. We are members of the greatest nation in the world, it is time some of us start remebering that and start acting accordingly.

Yikes, remind me to kill myself the day I look to a produced movie as a picture of the "good ol' days".

If that's the case, I'll say "Home Alone" was the good ol' days. When you could defend your house hold with a paint can and some laugh tracks from the VCR. haahahah
