Direct Anger Over The Confederacy And White Supremacist Divisiveness At The Origin: The Democratic Party

By Frances Rice

The Democratic Party owes Black Americans and our entire nation an apology.

The roots of modern-day racism and claims of "white supremacy" are planted firmly in the Democratic Party.

Today, for partisan political gain, Democrats fan the flames of racism, as they have done for over 200 years.

In his book, "Whites, Blacks & Racist Democrats," Rev. Wayne Perryman provides startling details about racism in the Democratic Party from 1792 to 2009.

Rev. Perryman describes how the Democratic Party became known as the "Party of White Supremacy" that fought to preserve slavery and enacted discriminatory laws to deny civil rights to blacks.

Additional details about the history of civil rights can be found in the book, “A Short History of Reconstruction” by Dr. Eric Foner, and the below two articles:

The Parties Did Not Switch Sides - Update: The Republican Party is The Party of Civil Rights

Civil Rights History And Current State Of Economic Equality For Black Americans

http://blackrepublican.blogspot.com/p/history-of-civil-rights-in-nutshell.html
Democrats formed the Confederacy, seceded from the Union and fought a Civil War (1861 to 1865) – a war where over 600,000 citizens were killed, including many thousands of blacks – in order to keep blacks in slavery because the Democrats had built their economic base on the backs of black slaves.

As author Michael Scheuer stated, the Democratic Party is the party of the four S’s: slavery, secession, segregation and now socialism.

One pundit opined that, from its founding in 1854 as the anti-slavery party until today, the Republican Party has championed freedom and civil rights for blacks.

It defies logic for Democrats today to claim that the racist Democrats suddenly joined the Republican Party, after Republicans finally won the civil rights battle against the racist Democrats.

In fact, the racist Democrats declared that they would rather vote for a “yellow dog” than vote for a Republican, because the Republican Party was -- and still is -- the party for blacks.

Rev. Perryman sued the Democratic Party, demanding an apology for their history of racism based on the Democratic Party' “States Rights” claims. The case went all the way to the United States Supreme Court.

The Democrats admitted their racist past under oath in court, but refused to apologize because they know that they can take the black vote for granted.

Democrats should follow the lead of North Carolina and apologize.

The 2006 report of the Commission appointed by the Governor of North Carolina prompted the Democratic Party of North Carolina to pass a unanimous resolution in 2007 apologizing for the Democratic Party’s role in the bloody 1898 Wilmington Race Riots where dozens of black Americans were massacred.

That apology can be viewed on the Internet. In a letter to the North Carolina Democratic Party, North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Richard H. Moore wrote: “We can no longer ignore the fact that many of us grew up being taught a much sanitized – and inaccurate – history…. The truth is ugly.”

If we, as a nation, are to heal our racial wounds, move beyond racial divisiveness, we must first hold the Democratic Party accountable and demand an apology for the harm that party has inflicted on black Americans in particular and our nation in general.

Interesting although I have long been aware of these matters.

Not certain but I think all of us who post things on here under the banner of "timeontarget" might agree with at least some of this and I'm confident that at least a couple of them are not totally in agreement with this writer.

For today this writer congratulates my friend Funkentelecky for posting an informative blog to the Coastal Courier blog site.

There is no doubt that only the Democrat party benefits from the chaos being created now. It doesn't matter which side did what or the outcome. It has to be asked though...why is removal and destruction of heritage symbols the only option? The narrative now is to paint America as an unjust, racist, white male dominated country. The strategy is to erase history and rewrite it. There is no plan for the preservation of history. Consider this small list of countries that also had slavery.

Mexico
Chili
Spain
France
Denmark
Portugal
Brazil
Venezuela
Peru
Russia

All of these countries had and abolished slavery in the last 250 years. Not one of them has built a more free, wealthy, and successful country. America and all of it's history should be celebrated for what it has created. Unfortunately that doesn't suit the platform of the Democrat party.

The Democrats only care about keeping Blacks voting for them. If they are the party of civil rights, then why did they do everything in their power to stop the Civil Rights Act of 1964? Those Democrats who voted against the act did not join the Republican party as so many pundits have stated. If that happened, then why don't they post a list of names and the States they represented? Senator Edward Dirksen of Illinois, a Republican pushed for the bill to be passed, and Senator Robert Byrd, one of the leading Democrats, voted against the Bill. He continued being a Democrat until he died. I love the way the Democrats love to re-write history and the facts be dammed.

LBJ said it on that airplane when he used the "N" word to pronounce.

"We will have those N_____s voting Democrat for the next hundred years".

That is when he and the Democrats robbed from the Social Security Trust fund to create the great society.

This mess we have today such as Charlottesville last week is directly a result of the great society.

I disagree with all. The Democrats have issues but so does the Republican party. The lesser of the two evils (In my opinion)-the democrats.

Why? The GOP has no hope of pulling in significant numbers of AAs into their tent until they are willing to understand that they have to rid themselves of the most racist among them. The alt-right, white or nothing types are primarily killing the GOP of any hope of AAs or POC in general for that matter. You can only gerrymander so much, repress so much, before sheer numbers overwhelm even the most carefully laid plans. If the GOP ever gets serious about POC Outreach they need to start doing things on their behalf. Like it or not the Dems at least have done a few things over the past 50-60 years to pull in AAs, the GOP has done absolutely nothing short of minor lip service here and there. That's not nearly enough. In marketing, it takes more to win a new customer than it does to keep one. It seems the GOP only wants to hold on to what they have, and until that changes, expect POC to continue to vote Dem.

TOT--LBJ also said this--President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

They confederate monuments shouldn't be destroyed but placed in a museum.

VIDEO: Seconds after a Confederate soldier monument fell, protesters began kicking the crumpled bronze statue as dozens cheered and chanted. http://2wsb.tv/2vzWvra

PN I know about the statement you refer to and I do not and have never felt that way.

It is good to have you back and I think we are seeing some life getting into our Courier blog site. You are a good contributor.

You and I disagree for the most part but not always. Thanks for your insightful comments as well as your posting of articles written by others.

Ok POC is people of color what is AA? LBJ has been right about getting blacks to vote for over 50 of the 200 years so far. How long will it take for poor folk of all colors to realize there is no pursuit of happiness when the federal government takes revenue away from someone and gives it to someone else for control of them along with there vote too. Which is taken for granted. The Democrats of today are Socialist and want minorities to be dependent on government instead of free market principles.
