It's on life support for sure. My hope, they look at ways to improve it. I would hate for thousands to lose their healthcare. We need it but we need to find ways to improve it.

I think we could have found and had found lots of ways to improve the old health care system but never implemented the changes. We instead ripped the old system to shreds which was in fact the most successful system ever created. The goal was never to improve the system. The goal was to fundamentally turn our system on it's head in hopes of getting to a fully government run system. I hate that care has gone up for so many people. Keep your doctor? Never was a chance that was true. Save $2500 per family? That was a flat out lie. I haven't looked but I bet indigent care has not gone down with this system. I agree there need to be major changes and I also do not want people to lose healthcare. We simply had much better options to accomplish that goal before.

I have said from the get go everyone deserves access to quality healthcare. Nobama care did exactly the opposite. As much money our government spends a crap; it could easily be done without increasing taxes. Nobama care actually reduced accessible care and put people out of work in the process. Ironically I have not heard anything from the you can keep your own doctor cat. Now will concede that big insurance is a huge part of the problem. At the end of the day it is another squandered opportunity to make a real difference and I don't see Hillary doing any better...

It was nothing but a bunch of lies from the get go. They removed the keep your doctor from the website last week. It's a good example of what happens when there is no balance of power. They were in such a rush to approve it seen they knew if people read it they wouldn't like it. They handed it out (2600 pages) and called for a vote right away. So much for Obama promise to have bills posted online for 72 hours before voting on bills.

On July 25, 2009 the Republicans presented the "Empowering Patients First Act" (H.R. 3400) co-sponsored by Tom Price a Representative from Georgia and a doctor. Here's the blog posted by me.

While I for the most part agree with you Funky, there are some points I want to exaim. As I have said elsewhere, I'd rather pay for an illegal alien get health care than a rapist or murder. If you don't give them health care will you allow them to die in the streets? As a mother I could not look another mother in the face and tell her that her sick child wasn't going to get medical
treatment. As for federal funds paying for abortions (not taking a pro/anti stand here), the federal government has been paying for abortions for at least 20 years, including late term abortions, through Medicaid.

I am much against the Obama plan but have resigned myself to the fact that they will pass it no matter what the people have to say about it. If you speak out against Obama policy (not against the man) you are a racist. If you advocate peaceful civil disobedience then you can be labeled a terrorist and be tried as one. We no longer have any personal freedoms. I shutter to think what this country will become in the next 10 years.

PN, This the latest feedback from the Averting of a Government discussions. The GOP plan is a stopgap measure that's "clean" of unrelated add-ons — with one exception. That would be a technical tweak to the Children's Health Insurance Program to prevent a handful of states that are about to ...
