Take Me To Post Comment Form

When a Police Officer gives you a directive like "move over to the sidewalk" it is your duty as a citizen to move over to the sidewalk, their authority must be respected and adhered to. If Michael Brown and his friend had adhered to that directive, a precious life would not have been lost last Saturday in Mo. The actions that we take in our lives have consequences and the decisions we make we need to take individual responsibity for them. Before I introduce Minister Jonathan Gentry, let me give you a true life experience with the police that happened in 1999 and 2000 here in Hinesville. In 1999 I had a bad morning and was running late for morning formation. A Police Officer pulled me over and cited me for speeding. I challenged the officer about the other two cars ahead of me that we're speeding and what was he gonna do about them. I was disrespectful and gave the officer a hard time by challenging his authority which led to my arrest. Fast forward to the year 2000 as I was headed to work for morning PT heading East on 196 and General Screven making a left turn I ran a red light. An officer pulled me over and said, did you know you drove through a red light? I replied yes to the officer and I said to him that I continued through the light because when I realized it was red I didn't stop because I would have been in the intersection so I continued on with the flow of traffic. The officer gave me a verbal warning instead if a ticket. There were two cars ahead of me that went through a yellow light as I followed them through; however I didn't mention this to the officer I concentrated on my situation and actions. I have learned through experience to humble myself to authority and or right vs wrong. In the sixties and seventies when I grew up in Suffolk Va if a Police Officer gave me or any of my friends a directive we complied instead of challenging them. Too many of our young black men today in 2014, have a chip on their shoulders and don't respect authority, don't take responsibility for their actions, don't know how to act. You don't need EXTRA precautions you just need to be humble and know how to ACT, period!

Now I introduce Jonathan Gentry, enjoy and embrace the truth. It will set us FREE!!!!

Funk-so what I hear you saying is the officer would have been justified in using deadly force to take you out because you challenged him? I'm not sure if you have children but it seems to me if it were your son lying dead on the streets-you would stop the investigation and proclaim-that he would still be alive today if he had moved quickly and there's no need for further investigation. I pray this type of tragedy never hits your door steps.

PoliticsNation commented on Friday, Aug 15, 2014 at 11:42 AM

Funk-at the end of the day if you were born black in America you were born in this mess (racism- bigotry). At the end of the day- it doesn't mean anything if you continue to Uncle Tom yourself down--your still black. The guy that was shot down in Walmart- didn't have a chance to humble himself down because they shot him at soon as they made contact with him- Ranisha McBride didn't have time to humble herself because she was shot through a door and the list goes on.

PoliticsNation commented on Friday, Aug 15, 2014 at 11:50 AM

Funk- ask this guy about humbling yourself.

The booking officer had no other reason to hold Davis, who ended up in Ferguson only because he missed the exit for St. Charles and then pulled off the highway because the rain was so heavy he could not see to drive. The cop who had pulled up behind him must have run his license plate and assumed he was that other Henry Davis. Davis said the cop approached his vehicle, grabbed his cellphone from his hand, cuffed him and placed him in the back seat of the patrol car, without a word of explanation.

But the booking officer was not ready just to let Davis go, and proceeded to escort him to a one-man cell that already had a man in it asleep on the lone bunk. Davis says that he asked the officer if he could at least have one of the sleeping mats that were stacked nearby.

@PN, I've presented a blog of true life experience. You have decided to go all out on an emotional roller coaster ride of emotions without waiting for the facts to be put out. My point is just as you expect the police to protect and serve, we must respect and adhere to their authority. Will that prevent all tragedies for black folk no, will that reduce the amount of tragedies for blacks, yes.

Why do liberals try to change history and even believe in that ignorance too. Yes, I'm Uncle Tom like, the one in Harriet Beecher Stowes "Uncle Tom's Cabin"

http://negrointellectual.blogspot.com...

You, Al Sharpton, and the NAACP are like the made up one that you attempt to paint me as because of your ignorance of factual American history. Where were you, Sharpton and the NAACP on July 4th when 60 blacks were killed in Chicago drive by's and 47 more two weeks later. Where were you when the women in Oakland lost two of her children in a three week timeframe? Do these tragedies mean anything to you and even more precious black lives were lost in these incidents! Where were you and your race baiting gang?

If Darren Wilson is guilty of excessive force, he needs to be charged accordingly. You have judged him already before the investigation is over as usuall"it's the Whire mans or Police's fault"

PoliticsNation commented on Friday, Aug 15, 2014 at 13:53 PM

You didn't answer my question. According to your blog---you deserved a bullet.

PoliticsNation commented on Friday, Aug 15, 2014 at 15:01 PM

Fumk- you and I will never agree when it comes to politics. However, I agree to disagree. We see the world different and that's okay.

Funkentelecky commented on Friday, Aug 15, 2014 at 15:01 PM

No I didn't , I was disrespectful and in-courteous; however I didn't resist arrest or try to take the officers firearm. Why is so hard for a progressive liberal to understand something as simple as that.

I'm waiting for all the facts to come out, so far we know that Michael Brown didn't follow a police directive and that he attempted to capture the police firearm and that an eyewitness said Brown was giving up with his hands in the air.

It's very sickening that you would say and think that I deserved a bullet. You really don't understand how free you are. It would be enlightening if you could experience being a black woman in a Muslim country for one week ; then you would truly understand the power you are blessed with. The power to reason and think to change the course of your own destiny. Only in America

Like I said before, when we were teens and a police gave me/us a directive we complied. If a perceived white man was chasing me through my neighborhood I out ran his a$$ and went to the safety of my home instead of circling around and challenging him. Know how to Act and prevent most of these tragedies.

Funkentelecky commented on Friday, Aug 15, 2014 at 15:10 PM

PN, this is lifestyle, blacks need to be more inclusive to American culture and stop making excuses. Of course there's a percentage of lunatics out there of all colors. What I present worked for us when we grew up and it can work today; however it doesn't seem like parents are setting the example by being a good role model for the behaviors that I espouse. It works and will lower the trajedies among black youth. The way we are handling it now doesn't improve anything.

JimmyMack commented on Friday, Aug 15, 2014 at 17:14 PM

So...as a white boy...I will only ask these questions: Does Racism exist in America? Is it more predominant in one Race (black or white) than the other? Does 'profiling' exist in the law enforcement community? Is one race predominantly more 'well off' per capita in terms of finances than the other? And if so, WHY is that?

Now, I am going to have a beer and turn on the tube to see what has transpired in Ferguson.

gacpl commented on Friday, Aug 15, 2014 at 20:08 PM

all funk is saying is if he showed basic respect for authority it wouldn't have ended up like it did. but he was probably very agitated (making him suspicious) due to have just committing a strong arm robbery. while his parents say they are just trying to paint there son as a bad kid by releasing it, they did admit it was him in the video committing the crime minutes before the cop tried to get him out of the road.

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Aug 16, 2014 at 12:36 PM

@gacpl: I am only asking the questions I posed above for COMMENT. They should not be interpreted as a response to Funk, PN, or anybody else. I would just like to know for those who care or have the gumption to respond, what their opinion is regarding the questions I asked. That's all.

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Aug 16, 2014 at 12:49 PM

I would only add that the questions be taken on face value without reading anything into them.

timeontarget commented on Saturday, Aug 16, 2014 at 14:32 PM

Jonathan Gentry is spot on in my opinion.

Many folks who are black appear to wear their feelings as if they have a chip on their shoulder and eagerly await the earliest opportunity to cease the role of "one who has been offended".

How many times I've herd the term he "dissed" me.

Now many of our young white folks are beginning to act the same way.

We must all respect authority whether we like it or not.

timeontarget commented on Saturday, Aug 16, 2014 at 16:20 PM

seize the role of "one who has been offended"

sorry

Funkentelecky commented on Saturday, Aug 16, 2014 at 16:53 PM

Jimmy racism still exist, it will never be over completely in our lifetime here on earth. The world will be perfect in the kingdom of God. However it isn't enough of a factor to suppress people of color in 2014 USA. I've been in Corporate America for ten years now and I've been back stabbed by blacks more than whites. For some un-godly reason the ones who backstabbed me because I followed the policies, came to work early and left after they did resulting in promotions that they wanted but didn't put forth the effort to earn. I can honestly say my white seniors and peers, judge me by my work performance ethics and content if character. Since this case wasn't profiling or have anything to do with financial status I'm taking a rain check on those subjects for now and save it for another blog in the future.

Funkentelecky commented on Saturday, Aug 16, 2014 at 17:10 PM

Jimmy, what do you think about Jonathan Gentry's message?

timeontarget commented on Sunday, Aug 17, 2014 at 07:54 AM

Funkentelecky, thank you for a very good blog.

I think Dr. Carson is going to enter the race before much longer.

I sure hope he does. I'd like to see a man of his caliber enter the race regardless of his color, one of such caliber thou he be black or white would suit me just fine.

Having said these things I'd like to add that I think it would be especially good for racial relations if Dr. Carson could be the next President of the United States.

I believe it would have a terrific healing effect on repairing the damage done by the current administration.

We on both sides of the color line would do well to always avoid "race baiting" questions.

JimmyMack commented on Sunday, Aug 17, 2014 at 09:08 AM

@Funk: I think Gentry is a very impassioned man who believes every word that comes out of his mouth. That, of course, is his right. Opinion wise: I think he oversimplifies minority abuses with his attempt at comedic mocking of facial and word expressions of other blacks he holds in disdain.

gacpl commented on Sunday, Aug 17, 2014 at 09:24 AM

this is how nice of a guy Michael brown was. reality is he probably would have went on to kill a innocent person later in life.

Jimmy black people get very animated with passion when they are expressing themselves. Gentry isn't expressing disdain he is expressing how blacks who blame the police, white people and race while dismissing the actions they could have taken to protect themselves beforehand.

How do you feel about Hillary attempting to copy A black persons southern drawl? As though she has lived through it. You don't give Gentry any credit for living it, no?

Funkentelecky commented on Sunday, Aug 17, 2014 at 21:36 PM

Gacpl I agree that Michael Brown doesn't represent a good person that respects other peoples property; however lets not stretch this too far and suggest that he would have potentially murder/kill someone in the future if he was still here with us.

JimmyMack commented on Monday, Aug 18, 2014 at 06:10 AM

Funk: I musta missed Hillary's Moms Mabley schtick. Don't know nuttin 'bout it.

The Guvnah of Mo. has just sent in the National Guard. Seems we got a whole lot of fixin' ahead of us.

In regards to Michael Brown, it seems that he was getting an early start on his rap sheet. There are contributing factors to juvenile escalation of committing crimes. Seems he had two sides to his personality even with a Daddy in the house.

I don't know how you fix that.

gacpl commented on Monday, Aug 18, 2014 at 07:10 AM

funk, it's really not that much of a stretch. most thugs start out with crimes like that then move up to murder later, unless they experience some life changing event.

gacpl commented on Monday, Aug 18, 2014 at 07:30 AM

the preliminary autopsy was released, from it,
The wound at the top of his head indicated that he was bent forward, which could either mean he was giving up or he was charging at the officer, Baden stated.

this was recorded at the scene.

@6:28/6:29 of video
#1 How’d he get from there to there?
#2 Because he ran, the police was still in the truck – cause he was like over the truck
{crosstalk}
#2 But him and the police was both in the truck, then he ran – the police got out and ran after him
{crosstalk}
#2 Then the next thing I know he doubled back toward him cus - the police had his gun drawn already on him –
[there is dispute here whether he says "doubled back" or "coming back."]
#1. Oh, the police got his gun
#2 The police kept dumpin on him, and I’m thinking the police kept missing – he like – be like – but he kept coming toward him
{crosstalk}
#2 Police fired shots – the next thing I know – the police was missing
#1 The Police?
#2 The Police shot him
#1 Police?
#2 The next thing I know … I’m thinking … the dude started running … (garbled something about “he took it from him”)

PoliticsNation commented on Monday, Aug 18, 2014 at 09:24 AM

The autopsy report says "one of the bullets entered the top of Mr. Brown's skull, suggesting his head was bent forward when it struck him and caused a fatal injury." Later states, "It can be because he's giving up, or because he's charging the officer." The two shots in the head are said to be the final shots. Why in the world would the medical examiner say he could have been charging forward at the officer???? Already shot five times including his eye blown out and he could have still been charging toward the officer? Some media already picking up on this. Will this be thrown in to declare reasonable doubt? RIDICULOUS!

gacpl commented on Monday, Aug 18, 2014 at 11:05 AM

did you listen to the audio of the above conversation? basically they say he ran at the cop. and im guess you never seen someone charging while being shot. they don't go down like on tv, they continue to move forward, so it makes sense that the cop would keep shooting until he stopped moving at him, which would make the final shot on top of his head while falling forward towards him. another question that should be asked. they said he was with someone else. what happened to him. also the "ear" witnesses said they clearly hear 10 shots. not 8 or 9, or 9 to 10. they were all sure of 10 rapid shots. how many bullets did the cops gun have in it?

gacpl commented on Monday, Aug 18, 2014 at 13:39 PM

the brown family had their own autopsy done, the results showed the "eye" witnesses lied. all shots were from the front.

PoliticsNation commented on Monday, Aug 18, 2014 at 14:58 PM

@gacpl that's not true. Shot's were fired from every angle but they didn't hit him. You and others on this site are constantly looking for the worst and trying to discredit minority victims. However, I hate the young man had to die but he didn't die in vain. Blacktwitter is talking about the importance of voting and how valuable the minority vote is and how conservatives are losing their mind because their losing control and threatened by the minority vote. Before the incident only 12% of blacks voted in Ferguson-that will never happen again. What the devil meant for bad is turning to good. When the rioting is over and the smoke is cleared--good things will come out of this. Bless you and your conservatives buddies-I've got work to do and lives to change. We will overcome.

gacpl commented on Monday, Aug 18, 2014 at 15:01 PM

strange then, the autopsy shows all shots from the front. and i quote "Mr. Brown, 18, was also shot four times in the right arm, he said, adding that all the bullets were fired into his front" Dr. Baden

JimmyMack commented on Thursday, Aug 21, 2014 at 10:41 AM

My chips are on that all the autopsies will not say the same thing.
