My problem with the do nothing Congress

Is not that fewer laws have been passed. I am not a fan of legislation, however the biggest issue I have with this congress is that there has not only been less legislation but there has been less debate. It feels like the campaigning of both parties has simply went into the day to day business of running the country.
Honestly it seems like the hill is occupied by a bunch of children on both sides. Men and women who are polarized and entrenched with their party.
These children are more interested in photo ops and sound bites than they are getting things done.
I wish that some men and women would stand not on party but on principle and enact legislation that would cause debate change and help the people. Keep in mind you may not get reelected but should there be such a thing as a career politician?
I say no. Power corrupts everyone holding it. No matter who holds it. Power should be shared.
My other major problem with this do nothing congress is that when doing nothing there is a huge cost. There is a transportation bill in congress now. Without this bill the highways may not work. Has congress came to a decision about it?
We need adults in congress and the White house not children

BREAKING: Senate Republicans filibustered the Bring Jobs Home Act today July 30 ,2014. The bill received 54 votes, short of the 60 needed.

This is what I mean by Republican obstruction.

IMHO we have gridlock not only because of Republican obstructionism but also because we have a president who refuses (or doesn't know how) to lead. It is a GIVEN that the opposition will work toward their own ends and battle against what their constituencies (and their philosophy) dictate. But the President - as the leader - must cajole and arm-twist - EVEN WITH MEMBERS OF HIS OWN PARTY - and compromise to make things work.

This president doesn't want it to work via compromise and shared "wins." He wants to stick it to the GOP every chance he gets. He has shown that almost since the day he took office. In the early days, he made overtures and supposed compromises, then reneged on the deals after-the-fact. That's why the GOP no longer trusts him to keep his word.

Obama has chosen a "pen and phone" approach that has been getting him struck down by the Supreme Court in cases that make their way to SCOTUS. This government is dysfunctional FROM THE TOP DOWN. The president has the greatest ability to make things work. Other presidents have done it - but they had to make CONCESSIONS. Obama refuses to do this - everything must be a win for him or for the Democrats.

Nobody wins when this happens. Dems can point the finger at the GOP, but Obama is president and his party owned congress from 2009 to 2011. What did that get us? ObamaCare and a lousy economy.

Who is most to blame? YOU DECIDE.

@Sebe: Very succinctly stated brother man. Not like your previous pattern of tsunami anti Obama overload. However, I do know the big wave is coming sooner or later. But I needs me a line of heroin to deal with it. Black Tar will do. Do you know where I might could find me some?

I's ask Tot, but I think he just does Pot. (I'm a poet but didn't knows it)
