Making it harder to vote in Long County?

Take Me To Post Comment Form

Long County Commissioners recently laid out a plan to possibly change the locations of several voting precincts. The election supervisor said that consolidating Districts 3 and 7 is being looked into as is having one precinct at city hall (Coastal Courier).

District 3 commissioner Willie Thompson said he opposes this because he believes " Every District Should Have It's Own Precinct To Make It Easier for Its Voters". He also said " That If Any Changes need to be made, it is that a precinct should be placed closer to Walthourville, because of the distance that voters have to travel".

Last time I checked- Long County was growing and the school board was requesting additional funding to build a new school to accommodate the growth. If Long County is indeed growing- why consolidate precincts?

I hope this isn't a Voter Suppression Tactic.
