Deficit

Another question... I have asked many and even researched a little...

At the end of the day; what does having a national deficit really mean?

We are reminded over and over that we have this crippling deficit to pay. Who do we have to pay this debt to, and further more; why?

What does the deficit mean to you and I Joe Blow taxpayer? Also, why am I paying a bill I did not personally incur nor was asked if I minded co-signing?

I know this sounds a little naïve and further right than I normally go but... We still listen everyday to money being allocated for the flavor of the week crisis. Where does this money come from as my bank for some reason does not pay checks I don't have money in the bank to cover...

I guess I should be glad to be able to complain about where does the thousands of dollars my wife and I pay every month in taxes go as I am employed.

I however am not glad that my tax dollars are being used to write a check that I don't need to cash over and over...

HMJC: see if this helps. It is about as succinct a reference one can find.

From JM "Although the $1.7 trillion dollar budget deficit is the biggest it has ever been in the history of our nation, it still only represents 12% of the gross domestic product. This number is higher than economists would like, but it’s still less than what many other developed nations are borrowing as a percentage of GDP.

Be Sociable, Share!"

That's from the LINK TOT, not my words. What answer do you offer up to HMHC's question? Copy and Paste a link as is your norm.

JimmyMack commented on Tuesday, Jul 15, 2014 at 17:08 PM

Besides you cretin, those words: 'be sociable share' are at the bottom of the article and are referring to the links below it such as Facebook, Twitter and all the others. It's NOT some 'socialist' declaration you imbecile. It is about SHARING INFORMATION. However, as a high-school drop out that you are I can understand how you might get confused. A mind is a terrible thing to waste Tot.

Why have you gone back on your words that you see no reason to communicate with me? I thought you signed off on that one!

I thought this was HMJC's blog.

It is HMJC's blog but you referred to me; JM!!!

I am about to reach the conclusion that you are beyond attaining ANY form of comprehension on ANYTHING.

Anyhoo... Although there seems to be an explanation; it still reeks of bovine fecal matter. It also does not clearly delineate why Joe Dirt is left holding the bag. It just doesn't hold water when we constantly endure "emergency" funding for the latest "crisis" when we are "overdrawn"

I know it is a lost cause; just frustrating as I have worked hard all of my life to finance my governments blunders and deadbeats. A kiss would be nice...

Jimmy: Good link. The main problem is that the federal DEFICIT contributes to the federal DEBT, which if it continues to build is what will bury our economy and our descendants. It is important to control (and even eliminate) the deficit so that we can get after the main problem - federal debt. Here are a few good links on the debt and "what it means to you":

If we don't get our manufacturing base back in action in this country this nation will collapse at some point in time.

All real revenue comes from the private sector.

Our elected officials at all levels are overpaid and our government employees are paid more than they are worth.

A cow cannot live off of it's own milk.

sebekm commented on Wednesday, Jul 23, 2014 at 12:53 PM

We need to be the world leader in manufacturing again. A service-oriented society will always be beholdin' to the other guy, i.e., when you are a country of consumers, the suppliers will always have you by the balls.

"Greater Good"
October 28, 2014
“Greater Good”, a point or ideology that has been defined, perceived, twisted, etc. So what does this mean? Is it fair to even apply this concept as at the end of the day whatever the definition is construed; Man is still making that determination. So now here we are with ...

Crossroads
October 15, 2014
After pursing the “headlines” for the last couple of days it seems painfully apparent to me that our nation is at a perilous crossroad. We are mired in such discord that your average Dooms Day Prepper is doing jumping jacks saying “I told You So….” I try to do my ...

ISIS Endstate
October 08, 2014
Am I the only one that is concerned with the ineffective air campaign against ISIS? We seem to be going down the same road we did with Libya in regard to airstrikes that destabilize the region and disrupt the “enemy” but bring no semblance of peace and stability. Libya is ...

The ISIL Solution...
September 23, 2014
I am a little distressed with our Commander and Chumps methodology to address the ISIL. He has zero military experience and has already displayed a complete ineptness dealing with foreign policy. My first issue is the month long media blitz essentially describing when, what, and where we plan to strike; ...

9/11
September 11, 2014
My heart is very heavy today; the 13th anniversary of 9/11 still seems like it was yesterday… I remember being in the TOC in Bosnia watching on the screen just like it was yesterday. The same feelings of shock, sadness, and anger are still just as intense as it was ...
