Those old racists at the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post are at it again. The latest evidence of their KKK membership renewal was their criticism yesterday of President Obama’s foreign policy speech in front of West Point cadets this past Wednesday. From Jonathan Topaz’ Politico.com article posted yesterday:

“Edit pages pan Obama speech

Editorial boards at three major U.S. newspapers are criticizing President Barack Obama’s foreign policy speech at West Point on Wednesday as incomplete and failing to recognize America’s international standing.

The New York Times editorial board, often supportive of the White House, wrote that his address “did not match the hype, was largely uninspiring, lacked strategic sweep and is unlikely to quiet his detractors, on the right or the left.”

Obama “provided little new insight into how he plans to lead in the next two years,” the Times wrote, “and many still doubt that he fully appreciates the leverage the United States has even in a changing world.”

The Times also continued its criticism of Obama on transparency on targeted killings and intelligence, saying his call for more transparency was “ludicrous” given the administration’s unwillingness to give “even minimal disclosures.”

The Wall Street Journal, far more accustomed to criticizing the president on foreign policy, said Obama’s speech was marked less by what he said and more by what he left out — the pivot to Asia, relations with Russia, a defense of the administration’s Syria policy, a discussion of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks and other issues.

“We know that no foreign policy speech can cover the entire world,” the Journal concluded. “But listening to Mr. Obama trying to assemble a coherent foreign policy agenda from the record of the past five years was like watching Tom Hanks trying to survive in ‘Cast Away’: Whatever’s left from the wreckage will have to do.”

The Washington Post editorial said the president’s “binding of U.S. power places Mr. Obama at odds with every U.S. president since World War II.”

“President Obama has retrenched U.S. global engagement in a way that has shaken the confidence of many U.S. allies and encouraged some adversaries,” the board said, attacking the president for resorting to rhetoric instead of adjusting policy.

The Post also said that Obama provided “scant comfort” to those concerned about his policies on Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Ukraine.”

And then we have the West Point Corps of Cadets – apparently YOUNG RACISTS themselves – since they reportedly gave Mr. Obama an “icy reception” at his appearance at the U.S. Military Academy earlier this week. From Guy Benson’s article at Townhall.com:

“President Obama was welcomed by the Black Knights of the Hudson for his speech at West Point on Wednesday, but less than 25 percent of the cadets gave him a standing ovation upon his introduction….”

See: http://townhall.com/tipsheet/guybenson/2014/05/29/reports-icy-reception-for-obama-at-west-point-n1844616

Oh - perhaps they aren’t REALLY racists, but just the wrong crowd to pitch a speech on the Democratic Party philosophy on foreign policy. I suppose that is a possibility. CNN reporter Jim Clancy said as much in his comments reported in The Daily Caller this past Wednesday:

“[It] probably, you know, wasn’t really a great speech to give at the U.S. Military Academy,” Clancy noted. “It was a philosophical speech. It was not a commander-in-chief speaking to his troops. And you heard the reception. I mean, it was pretty icy.”

Other reports on the speech also commented on the tepid applause graduating cadets gave their president. Last Sunday, Washington Post columnist Chuck Lane noted that the ongoing VA scandal is a “huge setback” for President Obama’s push to turn the military into a Democratic constituency.”

If Obama thinks he can turn the military into a “Democratic constituency,” he is even more out of touch with reality than I thought.

Racism is when intolerance in government laws, attitudes and ideals of a society are ingrained in a culture to the point where patterns of discrimination towards a certain race are institutionalized as normal. If you keep this in mind, you’ll understand that reverse racism doesn’t- and can’t- exist.

There is another saying “Racism (or sexism) = prejudice + power. POC (people of color) can be prejudiced against white people. But they can never have power, i.e. a whole system of structured support that backs them. White people often don’t understand how much power they have. Just ONE white person has more power to do actual harm to a black person than one hundred black people do to that white person. A white person can KILL a black person without any consequences, while if the situation was reversed you can bet the killer wouldn’t see the outside of a prison cell for a long, long time.

When white people complain about reverse racism, they are not complaining about losing their RIGHTS. What they are complaining about is losing their PRIVILEGE.

White people can never call someone else racist against them because that ‘someone else’ does not have the power to OPPRESS them. The person has the power to be mean.To hurt feelings. But not to OPPRESS.

THAT is the key difference. When a POC is mean to you, they are JUST being mean to you. Their entire society is not ACTIVELY discriminating against and oppressing you. Their society is not one where it is difficult for them to not be racist against you.

Here's what racism is NOT:

*It's not an excuse for incompetence

*It's not an easy answer for failed policies

*It's not something that one can inevitably fall back on when they are not doing their job or can't blame somebody else for their inadequacies

*It's not the reason for all criticism when the one who is being criticized is not white

*It's not a card to be played early and often in every argument

@Sebe. As a Southern White boy, I am here to say that PN is SOLIDLY ON POINT with this one. The Karl Rovian hue you so very accurately have painted above bespeaks the insidious cleverness of the Republican right regarding such matters of racism. It is a well stated attack strategy of Conservatives. That's all. It plays well within their core base and is repeated daily 24-7 by Faux News. Cheney's and other 'compassionate conservative's' favorite propaganda channel.

Jimmy as a black man born in 1960 raised in Virginia lived all over this country and several countries abroad PN's POV is not on point it's one dimensional and DOESN'T present a fair assessment in regards to race relations in our country today.

In 2009 I interviewed for a job that hadn't been approved yet because of budgeting. So after the interviews I was picked as an interim while still performing my normal duties too. In the summer of 2009 I was sent to school for a week because it was required by policy to hold that position. In December 2009 my manager met with me and told me that he was satisfied with my performance and that I would be promoted in early 2010. One of my fellow POC's wanted the job so badly that he decided to go to management and complain that he and another POC (my friend had extensive experience in the job and wanted to know if there would be interviews again. One of the company's policies in addressing employees issues are send them up to your immediate supervisor. Our Director directed our manager to conduct interviews again. I didn't fair as we'll this time and didn't get the permanent job. What's disturbing is that my fellow POC' who wanted the job so badly didn't have the extensive experience that me and my friend who had both served over 20 years in the USA. My fellow POC and friend resume in that area was superior to mine however he didn't interview for the job and he didn't give the complainant POC permission to use his name in regards to the job. So PN is wrong yet again POC's have power to effect someone else's life other than just being mean to other people.

And Obama is as bad as anyone. Do you think he would still be President if he would have told us that you wouldn't be able to keep your doctor or your plan. What if the media would have covered Benghazi appropriately and let our people know that the ambassador could have been saved if the necessary actions had been taken.

I was disappointed in myself more than my backstabbing POC. So I went about and dusted myself off tightened up my bootstraps and earned a different position I and got promoted in 2011. My fellow backstabbing POC rules of engagements finally caught up to him in November 2011 and doesn't work here anymore. He violated a policy that terminates you on the spot. He told on another fellow employee that is white and they both were released. My fellow backstabbing POC said something like this when he was caught" John has one too"

Well said, Funky.

Jimmy: Karl Rovian hue? These are the comments by editors (excluding the Wall Street Journal) of THE MOST LIBERAL NATIONAL PUBLICANS THERE ARE! I'm sure the editors of the New York Times and the Washington Post would be ROTFLTAO at your characterization of THEIR COMMENTS as a "Karl Rovian hue."

Also - the West Point Corps of Cadets know what the deal is. It was no accident that Obama received an "icy" reception and less than one quarter of the audience stood to applaud him. This is just another demonstration of what I've been saying all along:

The U.S. military knows who has their backs, and who STABS them in the back.

People in the military don't listen to what the politician says - they watch what he does. Even the cadets know that Obama is screwing up this country's foreign policy status ROYALLY. If he continues this way for another two years (i.e., "trying to hit singles, doubles, and the occasional home run") and gets the same results, this country might be so pi$$ed off that it won't matter who runs on the Democratic Party ticket. Regardless of race, color or creed, the vast majority of the American people will only take so much of a political party putting us in a second-class world status before they say THROW THOSE BUMS OUT OF THE WHITE HOUSE.

You can try to change the subject by invoking Bush, Rove, Cheney, etc., but I ain't buying it - and neither are about 70% of the electorate. The Democrats have been in control for the past five years and they - with their "phone and pen" - will be on the clock for the next 30 months or so.

They will be held accountable.
