Here’s a story that grabbed my attention yesterday:

“Democratic candidate for governor Brett Hulsey plans to hand out white Ku Klux Klan-style hoods to Wisconsin Republicans as they gather for their annual convention (today) to highlight what he says are their racist policies.

Hulsey, a state representative from Madison who is white, came into the state Capitol press room on Thursday to show off a hood he says he made with his daughter's sewing machine using curtain material he purchased for $1.

"It's a Wisconsin Republican Party hat," Hulsey said. "And people can interpret it any way they want."”

Fortunately – according to the linked article - Hulsey’s campaign is a “long shot” attempt to win his party’s nomination over a “better-funded and more broadly supported candidate.” Hopefully, he’ll lose. But this is just another indication of the state of American politics today, where anything goes, and where you can't stoop too low to smear an opponent.

I thought the “racial wounds” of this country were supposed to be healed by installing the incumbent Democrat administration in the White House. At least that's what the politicians, pundits and prognisticators said back in 2008. It seems to me that the primary result has been a more intense focus on race which has only made the problems worse.

There must be a lesson to be learned here somewhere, but I’m damned if I know what it is...

I've always been told-members of the KKK no longer wearing hoods. They wear suits and uniforms..

Total cop-out, racism is perpetrated by all races and ethnicities. That statement is just as hollow is it is slaveries fault... Until we begin to focus on individual accountability and quit making excuses, the vicious circle will continue.

Racism is alive and well because of folks like this idiot, Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, etc. Not every white person is a racist no matter what party they belong to. However, if you are a Republican you get painted with the same broad brush of being a racist because of your party affiliation. This idiocy gets us no where and just keeps the drumbeat of racism going down the wrong road.

@Wayne-Racism is alive and well because of folks like Rush Limbaugh, Shawn Hannity Bill O-Riley, and other race hustlers along with ignorance.

we all noticed that you didn't call out the two biggest ones. Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton. why is that PN?

Racism is also alive and well because of the race-baiters/hustlers on the left who profit off of the perpetuation of racism.

One Reason Our “Do Nothing Congress” Does Nothing
August 06, 2014
Much has been said about GOP “obstructionism” – particularly as it relates to President Obama’s liberal agenda. It’s clear that as far as Republicans are concerned, President Obama NEEDS to be obstructed. But little has been said or written about Democrat “obstructionism.” Yes – that definitely exists as well, and ...
