NEVER ARGUE WITH A WOMAN WHO READS

Part I

One morning the husband returns after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap.

Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out. She motors out a short distance, anchors, and reads her book.

Along comes a game warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says, "Good morning Ma'am. What are you doing?"

"Reading a book," she replies, (thinking, "Isn't that obvious?")

"You're in a restricted fishing area," he informs her.

"I'm sorry officer, but I'm not fishing, I'm reading."

"Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment.

I'll have to take you in and write you up."

"If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault," says the woman.

"But I haven't even touched you," says the game warden.

"That's true, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment."

"Have a nice day ma'am," and he left.

MORAL: Never argue with a woman who reads. It's likely she can also think.

Finally. A Ha-Ha from Tot. Even tho it ain't his it shows some recognition of humor.

According to Nero Wolfe (The Silent Speaker, 1946, Chapter 11):

"A woman who is not a fool is dangerous."

Wow sebe. Never heard that one. Ya tried it in mixed company with both men and women in attendance just to maybe get a conversation going?

timeontarget commented on Thursday, Mar 13, 2014 at 07:39 AM

I too thought it was funny but it is also thought provoking.

I told it to my breakfast club yesterday and it stirred up multiple tales of those(with family or friends) known to have been falsely accused of sexual harassment.

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment sebekm, you too Walking Eagle.

There was an old woman who lived in a shoe,
She had so many children her uterus fell out.

Actually, I have. The women liked it, too. But they understood the context: it is a quote from Nero Wolfe - definitely a sexist fictional character from the mid-20th Century. (You remember those times, don't you? That was the time "where men were men and women were glad of it.)

The line figured prominently in the Nero Wolfe episode of the same title that was part of the A&E series from about 15 years ago. Maury Chaykin (RIP) delivered the line masterfully.

and

"There was an old woman who lived in a shoe,
She had so many children her uterus fell out."

Her doctor must have been a Republican. More War On Women. But the real question is:

DID SHE HAVE COVERAGE UNDER OBAMACARE?

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Mar 15, 2014 at 07:09 AM

Rand Paul is doing his best to demonstrate that Republicans are woman friendly and he is encouraging others in the Republican Party to do likewise.

It's a smart move on their part to do since Hillary is coming. They got three years to get it done. They want to knock out that argument if they can before Hillary gets to the podium.

They know Hillary ain't no fool.

But I do believe by Nero's assertion, that he may think the ranks of women are filled with them (fools). He must have been a forerunner of the Tea Party movement.

And yes. The old woman who lived in a shoe did have a Republican Doctor who implanted her with many eggs in an effort to counter abortions by creating another Octomom.

She had applied for ACA Platinum but the Republicans sabotaged her approval for it by inserting a Cyber Bug in the ACA process that delayed her and millions of others approval for ACA.

Morality presents a struggle for Republicans. Ask Michelle Bachman's husband. He believes he can 'CURE' homosexuality. Course his methods are from Tot's old school. "Dr." Bachman wishes to hoist them up on a table in the open air during a thunderstorm with a weather vane attached to their craniums. It is hoped that lightening will then strike the vane and obliterate his patients homosexual desires.

Course they could Die from the lightening bolt. But then he could still say he was successful in curing them couldn't he.

"Morality presents a struggle for Republicans."

Far more than it does for Democrats. They simply want to eradicate morality from the political and social lexicon. They do not believe that God or religion have any place in a "free society," and try to substitute "the state" at every turn.

They keep trying to make the mid-20th Century German and Russian paradigms work, and are now being aided by 21st Century technology and a much more sophisticated message to sell it.

It seems that youth always has to learn things the hard way. The process has begun.

Hate to change the subject here Sebe and I DO apologize. But it relates to your blog about what is happening in the Ukraine.

If Putin continues his Western Europe annexations, then all our little tiffs here will be irrelevant in my view.

In my heart of hearts I truly believe he wants the Huns.
