"why do the libs think taking guns will help when the facts show other wise?"

My guess is that they know that our founders believed that the primary reason for establishing a nation with the right to bear arms was so that in the event our government ever got out of control the citizens would need to be armed so that they might correct things.

I saw recently where Thomas Jefferson once said,

"Those who hammer their guns into plow shears will plow for those who do not."

gacpl: The comparison between these two cities makes a strong case for concealed carry. The Chicago mayor just the other day was crowing about how statistical crime had supposedly decreased in the city over the past 40 years. But the interviews of people in previously safe neighborhoods which are now scenes of weekly bloodbaths say that the situation in Chicago is worse than ever.

The answer to your question is that they look at the problem too simplistically, and they cherry-pick to argue their points. But when you view the overall, you see that there has to be a balanced approach to the problem. The ordinary citizen does not need an arsenal of automatic weapons, high capacity magazines, and armor-piercing/explosive rounds to defend themselves against the typical "criminal threat" they are likely to face. But by the same token, common-sense laws which take into account data like you present above should be what primarily guides "gun control," so that we don't knee-jerk ourselves into situations which are worse than what we already have.

IMHO - an unarmed or disarmed law-abiding citizenry is tantamount to sheep being led to the slaughter. The police can't be everywhere, and ultimately a person must be responsible for THEIR OWN safety and security, and that of their family. Time and circumstances often dictate this.

I just posted a blog about another issue that ties in with this one, its about growing illelgal and legal aliens in our military. the number of foriegners serving in our military is alarming. Look around you talk to them, youll notice it right away. the number has been growing drastically since 2007 why, is it to take your guns away with people who dont care, because they are from another country, it makes sence, doesnt it?
