It is THE VETERAN,
not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is THE VETERAN,
not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is THE VETERAN,
not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is THE VETERAN,
not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is THE VETERAN,
not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is THE VETERAN,
not the politician,
who has given us the right to vote.

It is THE VETERAN
who salutes the Flag,

It is THE VETERAN
who serves under the Flag,

We can be very proud of our young
men and women in the service
no matter where they serve.

It makes you proud to be an American!

THE VETERAN...
WE SALUTE YOU!

Thanks Jimmy for the enlightening post.

These are some of the many reasons we are proud of our country :D

You are welcome Funk. I cannot speak for other Liberals, but I can state to you that this Liberal LOVES America and appreciates our Veterans.

Enjoy your day tomorrow, knowing that you are appreciated for your service to our country.

Good blog, Jimmy. I'm looking now for my new "soul mate" - TOT - to echo the comments in your basic blog post.. (If he does, then I'll know progress has arrived in TOT-ville).

PoliticsNation commented on Monday, Nov 11, 2013 at 13:44 PM

Great post and tribute to the men/women that have fought and lost their lives for our freedom.

HMJC commented on Tuesday, Nov 12, 2013 at 08:43 AM

At least we all have common ground here; thanks to all that have served and are serving. Your sacrafice will always be treasured.

sebekm, I wish that I could join in the praise of our veterans with the same spirit that this blog reflects.

I am extremely sorry to say that I simple cannot.

With all due respect to you sir I will refrain from voicing my innermost thoughts on this subject.

"We've been down this road before"

Regarding this blog site I have decided not to read anymore blogs by some on here.

However when I come to this site I always make sure to avail myself of all comments by sebekm.

I am not totally in agreement with you but I'm virtually in agreement with you on all other matters than this particular subject.

I sincerely hope that this one issue will not prevent our future participation on current as well as past matters which you are so talented with the discussion of.

Please forgive me but I simply cannot change my innermost thoughts.

Our nation's foreign policy over the decades since the military has become all volunteer have veered far from what I believe our founding fathers intended.

Our domestic policy is even worse.

Sad to say but I thank God that I am an old man and might be blessed to depart this earthly existence before the Democrats complete the destruction of the greatest experiment in governing ever.

Again I'm sorry and I apologize if I offend you sir.

JimmyMack commented on Wednesday, Nov 13, 2013 at 14:51 PM

Uh-Oh, Sebe. Seems Tot don't appreciate veterans. Imagine that?!

We now know this: Tot hates Liberals.
Tot hates Democrats.
Tot don't like Homosexuals.
Tot thinks America is dying.
Tot don't think kindly of Veterans.

Me thinks Tot ain't your soul mate in any sense.

sebekm commented on Sunday, Nov 17, 2013 at 20:02 PM

Hmmmm....I dunno.

"Tot hates Democrats.
Tot thinks America is dying.
Tot don't think kindly of Veterans."

Two out of three ain't bad.....but "soul mates?" More like "kindred spirits" - kind of like you and PN.....

JimmyMack commented on Monday, Nov 18, 2013 at 08:59 AM

Yes Sebe. PN is awesome. I find it rather humbling to be in the same sentence with her. She is articulate, and SMART.

I will take my kindred spirit nine out of 10 times on these pages. I cannot say the same for your kindred spirit tho.

sebekm commented on Monday, Nov 18, 2013 at 22:26 PM

I like PN, too.

sebekm commented on Monday, Nov 18, 2013 at 22:45 PM

TOT: No offense taken. And no need to call me "sir" - before they decided I did "warrant" being an "officer," I worked for living. Those truly were the best of times.

Since the days of our founding fathers, our military still serves the same role: it executes U.S. policy at the direction of our civilian leadership. If you have issues with the activities of our military, blame our elected representatives - from Mr.Obama on down. I suspect you have had individual, unpleasant "run-ins" with members of our "volunteer army" locally. If so, you have my sympathy. But veterans are still veterans - today and in 1945. The concept and the ideals which formed the basis for enacting "Veteran's Day" back when are still valid today. When you honor today's veteran, you honor yesterday's veteran.

timeontarget commented on Tuesday, Nov 19, 2013 at 15:42 PM

sebekm I have had many good experiences with military both active and retired.

I must say that I hold our elected members of congress and Presidents of the past responsible for our flawed foreign policy not our soldiers and other military.

Thank you for your post Mon Nov 18 at 22:45.

I am confidant that if sebekm and timeontarget were to meet face to face and have the chance to talk we would certainly be kindred spirits.

You are certainly the MVB of my home's community blog site.

I just wish that some bloggers would not drag discussions into the gutter as some seem to enjoy doing.

I've noticed that those types are usually Democrats.

JimmyMack commented on Tuesday, Nov 19, 2013 at 17:40 PM

@TOT: I have found that mis-informed, uneducated, unread, non-self introspective ones, ARE THE GUTTER PEOPLE. They offer up simplistic answers to societies problems. i.e. LIBERALS BAD, CONSERVATIVES GOOD. LOVE HAS BOUNDARIES, Use the N word amongst themselves, drive tractors, do wood work, or do PLUMBING, and wear hats generally with JOHN DEERE written on them.

Not saying that's a bad thing, it just shows a simplistic outlook for solving problems.

They are usually southern Republicans.
