Why Poor Whites RedState Vote Against Own Interest

In what is quite possibly the most powerful, insightful, and concise answer to the age-old question of why poor whites residing in red-states always vote against their own best interest, Michael Eric Dyson hits the nail right on the head and gives some powerful advice to these red-state voters.

In this powerful 90-second response to a viewer’s question, Dyson doesn’t attack nor belittle these white voters, but he does provide a very powerful example given by the Rev. Martin Luther King that shows why these voters living in red-states would be much better served by joining in solidarity with other poor Americans of every color in fighting for better wages, a fairer economy, healthcare for the poor, and the stemming of growing socioeconomic inequality.

I would tell you more, but I do not want to spoil it for you. All I can tell you is that he ends the response with a very important point that every poor American living in a red-state should keep in mind when at the voting booth in 2014 and beyond.

@Sherman-your the devil. I see why you lost everything. I will continue to pray for your. I will pray that you don't lose what little you have left.

Sheran commented on Friday, Nov 08, 2013 at 17:50 PM

I have not lost a thing! I'm not giving you MY info.

PoliticsNation commented on Friday, Nov 08, 2013 at 17:56 PM

I don't need your information. I can read you like a book by your post. I don't entertain the devil.

Careful ladies. TOT considers this site sacred. Playing and attempts at levity, whether true attempts or not violates the sanctity of this site. There is according to TOT nothing regarding humor or 'play' allowed here. Not that his presumption is and of itself ridiculous, it is unbeknownst to him silly and a self revealing statement towards the degree of self importance to which he views himself.

Such is the nature of paranoid delusion.

@Sheran, now that's funny. Two points for Sheran. I know most of you on this site are much older than me...I'm a 80's child. I don't want to go too far and disrespect any of you-at the same time I ask that others show the same respect for me. We don't have to say things out of character or plot demise if we don't agree. We're all entitled to our opinions. Good healthy dialogue is good for the community and soul.

@PN: You seem to be a very well balanced, humble individual. Free of obsessions and anger. Have a great sense of humor. Do not take yourself TOO seriously, not a name caller (like me at times), you realize none of us here are re-writing the Constitution, and you are wise beyond your years.

I would say, that you are a pretty good individual to have around here on these pages.

Sebe's title of MVB, Most Valuable Blogger, may be in jeopardy.!!?? He possesses most all of the traits noted above but he is presently keeping company with a right wing Cro-Magnon hominid.

And we are known by the company we keep.

sebekm commented on Sunday, Nov 10, 2013 at 11:46 AM

....as we are known by our name-calling. I "keep company" with no one here - but my views and opinions frequently coincide with others. I do not apologize for this, nor will I modify my opinions to suit anybody else.

Mutual admirations societies aside - as I've said many times before - everyone here is an "MVB," regardless of their place in the political spectrum.

and

"Good healthy dialogue is good for the community and soul."

Yes it is - especially when we keep in mind that at the end of the day, we're all on the same team.
