And the beat goes on and on and on...
When the Tea Party is thru unsuccessfully trying to finish off Moderate and Establishment Conservatives they will go down as a footnote in history as a bunch of misguided lunatics with unrealistic and pretentious political aspirations that, for a time, gave voice to anger and bitterness that some disturbed individuals wrongfully bought in to.
"folks willing to compromise not refuse to compromise"
Is it me or does this statement sound exactly what our commanderand chump stated? whats good for the goose anyone?
Hi HMJC. I believe the public saw how the government shutdown played out and saw it for what it was: A foolish and disastrous attempt to get a law they didn't like stopped. Attaching Repealing the ACA to the Government Continuing Resolution Act was poor judgement on a massive scale. BHO would have been foolish to sit down with these legislative terrorists. Government doesn't work that way, my friend.
I addressed the issue in my latest blog. In Virginia, McAuliffe won by 2 percentage points. If the Obama "bundler" hadn't gotten the libertarian candidate on the ballot, it is likely those people would have voted for the Republican. In a state where each candidate got slightly more than a million votes, the margin of victory was hardly significant.
Virginia was one of the hardest hit by the 17% shutdown, but when a race for governor comes down to constituencies that are basically evenly divided, you can toss a coin.
HMJC is correct. "Failure to compromise" is in the eye of the beholder. As a recent poll showed, an OVERWHELMING number of Americans share the goals and objectives of the Tea Party. When they have lousy candidates - or candidates who fail to receive the full political backing of the major party - they have a tougher row to hoe.
Neither the Virginia nor the New Jersey governor races proved anything except that the better (or trickier) candidate won. OBAMACARE will be the principal issue in 2014, and the Dems are scurrying like cockroaches in the sunlight away from it. You now have 11 Senators signed on to delay the "individual mandate" - something unheard of before WE THE PEOPLE were able to see just how massively flawed the legislation actually is.
With all due respect Sebe, America is a very divided country and the margins of Democrats winning show how sharply divided we are. Nevertheless, it is what it is. Despite all the frothing at the mouth here and on other venues (Faux News)as sensible Americans realize, you do not negotiate with hostage takers. Conservatives took all of us hostage during the shutdown.
With the fuse having now been lit following the outcome of all these elections, the implosion of the Republican Party is on.
Sebe, no side is going to win by a LANDSLIDE in the up-coming elections. However, Democrats have shown that THEY can win without a landslide.
Demographics show a trend toward Centrist and Centrist Left (Chris Christie) rather than extreme Conservatism nor Centrist-Right.
You my friend, may be finding "OVERWHELMING numbers of Americans sharing the goals and objectives of the Tea Party," these OVERWHELMING numbers of Americans though are NOT voting that way once they get inside the voting booth.
We Dems are winning the culture war and the elections. And those on the right and Center right are wailing their lungs out, writing repetitious blogs about Obamacare being on life support, and are unashamedly flaunting their days of discontent and political impotency, here, on radio, and on television.
The problem is that, the albeit slim majority that votes Democrat and provides us with the win, is NOT listening to nor buying what Conservatives are selling. That is a GOOD thing!
Dems have won 5 out of the last 6 popular NATIONAL VOTE. I do not expect that trend to stop any time soon.
America is ready and in fact, in my view, clamoring for a woman President. And you know what, just like we Democrats elected the First Black man POTUS, we are going to elect the first woman POTUS: Hillary Rodham Clinton.
The margins of Democrats winning are SLIM. And as I pointed out in another comment, the REPUBLICANS had the majority of the popular vote in the gubernatorial races yesterday.
I am not a member of the Tea Party and I do not share their "goals and methods" - but I am one of those OVERWHELMING number of Americans who share their sentiments about smaller government and less taxes and - most of all - less wealth distribution as done by Democrats. The Democrats solution is to throw money at everything - which they do easily since it's not THEIR money.
I guess we can debate this til the cows come home. I am opting to waiting on counting the votes on election day(s).
Jimmy, you are probaly right about hillary however; she will not be elected because of her political track record. She will be voted for because she is a female just like obama was voted for based on skin color. Thats the facts folks and that is what is so wrong with the overall picture. The welfare state continues to be the Dems biggest constituancy; not really sure if this is the platform that will move us forward as a country. At this point I would vote for Sponge Bob if he could demostrate a collective vision for all Americans. The other real problem is the division that exists; we all have our opinions regarding that so I will not digress. History has shown that the standing president has the ablity to heal a nation and bring us together. All obama has done is point fingers, make excuses, and for the most part basically nothing. Contrary to popular opinion he will go down as one of if not the worst president in our history. Being a black president is not a legacy; it's a statistic....
@HMJC: I have ALWAYS been out-numbered here buddy. Course there just happens to be MANY to blame besides BHO and the Democrats for the state we now find ourselves in.
I just do not believe it is ALL the Democrats or Liberals fault like Tot and Sebe do.
My inclination has always been to hold the leader accountable. I will be the first to say that both the Dems and the GOP have their fair share of idiots. Thats why the leader has the responsibilty to be where the buck stops and constructive compromise achieved. Obama has no where near made a concerted effort to realize that he also needs to compromise to move his platform forward. Fingers can be pointed all day long; at the end of the day the fact remains that the one in charge has the responsibility for leading change.
There are leaders and there are followers. When the followers are in lock-step with the leader, THEY ALL BEAR THE BLAME.
Yessir. That is why the Tea Party is going down with the count. Democrats fight amongst themselves. Republicans historically have shied away from inner party scuffles. Reagans 11th Commandment: thou shalt not speak negatively towards fellow Republican. The Tea Party has changed all that now. They will cut off their noses to spite their faces.
The IMPLOSION continues.
