Drive by in Hinesville?

Ok, I just read about the 5 year old injured in a drive by right here in Hinesville. OPEN CALL TO POLICE. GET OUT YOUR CARS AND MAKE SOME ARRESTS. Are you scared? Can't handle the big city crime happening now? 6:30 PM, broad daylight, kid outside playing. Nice. Someone saw something.

Months ago I blogged about the Ombudsman School. When kids have to show up at school in a bullet proof vest and the "teachers" are warned to stay away from the glass windows you know you got problems. Months ago I said major crime and gang related activities were about to start happening here. Well here you go.

To the Hinesville Police Department- Hire some people that know how to deal with this stuff before it gets to the point where the citizens cant let their kids out to play. You have not done anything to curb the growth of gangs in our area and frankly I dont think you are all up to the task of what is going on and what will go on if it is not handled now. Incompetence. Same area, three shootings and you cant pin it down. Unbelievable. Your not trying to. I think you are too scared to.

City officials- STOP TAKING FUN LITTLE TRIPS TO OUR SISTER CITY OR DC and WALK THE STREETS IN THIS TOWN. Im not talking the country club area. Try Brett Drive, Eunice, Cherokee Circle, go through Woodwind South, Glenn Bryant, and then make a jaunt through the Mills Creek subdivision and the North Gate/Mission Ridge apartment areas. Make your final stop at Raintree. If you really feel brave bring your kids with you and let them play outside for awhile. I dont let my kids outside at my house to play. I have to take them elsewhere to enjoy the outside. Guess what? You wouldnt think it when you drive through. Looks like a family neighborhood. You drive by the bus stop and there are TONS of kids getting on the school bus in the morning. The funny thing is you never see them at any other time. That is because we CANT LET OUR KIDS OUT TO PLAY.

Those in authority, step up. This is just shameful.

I am just as outraged as you are Eyes and while I agree that we need more gang oreiented police protection may I point out one fact. No matter how many police we put on the streets, it is up to the citizens of Liberty County to step up to the plate and speak up. Between the apathy and the culture of "Don't Tell", the police's hands are tied. I'm not talking about an society as descibed in 1984 but unless people come forward as assist the police, there will be no place in Liberty County that will be considered safe.

Although what you are saying is true, citizens of Liberty County and HInesville need to speak up and tell the police what they saw, they will not do so unless they feel that they would be safe in doing so. Also, if the police were doing what they should have been doing, then there would be little need for the citizens to be taking care of this type of dangerous business. Afterall, this is a small town and word gets around quickly. Therefore, people need to feel like the police will protect them from any further retaliation. In closing, let me just repeat something that I have seen many comment on previously in this blog. If the children in this town had something to do or someplace under supervision to hang out (especially during the summer), perhaps they woudl not be so eager to join gangs in the first place. It is important to remember that PREVENTION is more effective in erradicating a problem than REACTION could ever be! This issue has to be tended to promptly before more innocent people get hurt. Kids shooting kids, disgusting and a failure by the community and those in charge to provide these children with alternatives to gangs and gang related violence. Let's Get To Work People!

Well up2, here are my thoughts on the good citizens stepping up. Not going to happen. When your choices are be quiet and live or snitch and die, what kind of decision do you make? That is what I am talking about. The community is unprepared to deal with this problem and so is the law enforcement. This incident is a drop in the bucket and worse is coming. As for the citizens speaking up, maybe just maybe, if the cops showed up occasionally in these areas (not AFTER a shooting) and built a relationship with these citizens (you know take some proactive measures instead of reactive)people would be more willing to speak up. These cops here know who to look for and who to speak to about these crimes. I know this because the same kids I worked with were the same kids they were looking at a couple years ago when the gang signals started coming out. Well now these kids are adults or almost adults. Now we got adult problems to deal with. They know the gang names, the kids in them and where they operate out of. Now you tell me why nothing has been done. I can almost predict what is going to happen now. City officials will get together and say this must stop... and they will have a little community meeting to say this must stop,,, and they will send out their task force to round up some penny ante marijuana and meth dealers and consider the job well done. I really pray this is not the case. You are right though. As a community we need to get some backbone and make the cops do something. Instead of the cops pressuring us for answers, we should be pressuring them for answers and results. They know who is pulling off these crimes. Now they need to do their jobs, prove it (which is their excuse, they cant prove it) and lock them up. Usually people that know what happened in these crimes are not completely clean in their own lives. There are many ways to make people talk. The Hinesville PD needs some serious training.

This is all the same mess I have been talking about going on in Lake George for years. There are indeed adults involved leading kids (including their own) in gang related activity and the Sheriff's Department is well aware, but refuses to acknowledge it. My point in blogging about Lake George was the fact that it wasn't just going to stop in Lake George. If you think I was and am going to be the only victim, well guess again. For the FACT, that these IDIOTS know nothing has or will happen to them they continue and the longer it continues the more victims there will be. I also know for the FACT that this is a small town there are alot of kinfolk relations through the court system here. One involved in the shooting case involving me is related to a Magistrate Judge (this magistrate's mother worked in the court house, this magistrate's sister works in probation, this magistrate is married to the son of a use to be LCS detective and momma in-law was a juvenile court judge). This magistrate would also be in a position to issue search warrants on the same people SHE or kinfolk could very well be partying with (making the search warrant useless), if you get my drift.

While I respect everyone's POV the fact is that because we have remained silent, either because of fear or apathy, we have given all of our power to a criminal element. These crinmminals are both gangsta anf white collar. We can hire as many police officers or (insert a tax paying position here) as we want but until we demand accountabilty and are willing to inconvience ourselves then nothing will change. I know that there are some out there willing to step up to the plate but there isn't enough citizens who gives a rats darn about whats going on. We cannot shrug our shoulders and say "What can I do about it." We need stand together, speak up and make sure the PTB know what we expect from them and refuse to settle for anything less. Until we are willing to do that, nothing will change. Now I know that both Eyes and Lips ( :]) have strong voices but that isn't enough. More people need to step foward, ydraw a line in the sand and make a stand.

When seconds count, the police are only minutes away. Go buy a gun and learn how to use it.

Sam, this time I think you might be right.

Eyes, on this issue, I've been right all along - as have thousands of other Americans. If you need help purchasing a weapon or training with one, please don't hesitate to contact me.

NEVER, NEVER, thought I would feel ashamed of my country, because of the lack of citizen decency in the U.S. I didn't consider people would actually RAISE their kids to act in these ways. I've read alot of comments and thought the same myself, that it is because of a lack of raising. In fact, it is because of them being raised by bad to act bad without manners, regard or respect of others. I do not feel there is moral unity within the U.S. or compassion for country. We are surely becoming our own worst enemy. I can't imagine (in another 20 years) what my grandson's life will be like just trying to live in hope of him and his family surviving in a violent country.

Change commented on Wednesday, Jul 01, 2009 at 20:31 PM

I don't think people raise their kids this way I think some of them don't RAISE them at all. As far as the police go I think they are unprepared for the acts that are being committed. Now if the parents of this family beame vigilantes and found these people and dealt out their own justice, then you would find out what happened and who was involved faster than without the vigilante justice. I to do not let my children go outside. It hurts me because I played outside all the time when I was younger but it just seems unsafer nowadays could it be the media coverage? I don't know but I don't want to risk it.

Hum, guess it depends on how you look at it. The dope heads on Second Street that has all the babies in diapers, party like there's no tomarrow. They curse at those babies and when I say curse I mean FOUL FOUL mouth. Underage teens partying at that house, along with autos coming/going day and night. Deputies have caught it going on, and I have called DFCS on them twice. They are part of the courthouse kin drama, nothing has been done on behalf of the childern. The kids will be raised to act just as the adults that teach it to them, hence "the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree"...

gacpl commented on Saturday, Jul 04, 2009 at 02:13 AM

don't think because there are kids in the house there's a parent raising kids. some house holds just take money for foster kids and end up with a house full of ghetto or traitor trash just to get the monthly check.
