Sorry for the long absence. I have a lot on my plate. I have been out of the area traveling the eastern corridor. (work related) I haven't had the opportunity to read or stay in touch with everyone, and I apologize for that. But sometimes business comes before pleasure. I did watch the humiliating loss handed to Georgia by Missouri, which also sent me into a depression. But I will comment on that later. As for Georgia High School Football, in my opinion, it seems as if Class AAAAA is more exciting than the State's highest Classification, Class AAAAAA. North Georgia really have some very very good teams in Class AAAAA.
Gainesville have always been a very good team, even when they played in the lower classification. Tucker, their State Titles speaks for itself when they played in Class AAAA. While South Georgia may have some good programs in Class AAAAA, I don't think they could beat any of the North Georgia ranked Top Ten Teams.
Middle Georgia, you have Northside Warner Robins, and Warner Robins that is creating havoc in Region 2-AAAAA. They will be the two teams from Middle Georgia that stand a very good chance of beating Gainesville, and Tucker.
Region 1-AAAAA you have Central Thomasville that will more than likely win the Region, but I don't think that they are good enough to beat these top ranked North Georgia Teams in Class AAAAA.
Region 6 alone have perennial powers in there:
Tucker 6-0 Region 7-0 overall
Stephenson 5-1 Region 6-1 overall only lost to Tucker.
Martin Luther King 5-1 Region 6-1 overall still have yet to play Tucker and Stephenson.
Central Thomasville will advance in the playoffs but wont beat a rank North Georgia Team.
Northside Warner Robins will win the Region and will advance far into the post season playoffs
Warner Robins will finish 2nd in the Region and will probably make it to the 2nd round and will lose to a North Georgia ranked Team.
Ware County will win the Region and will advance to the 2nd round of the playoffs, but will not beat a top ten ranked North Georgia Team.
Union Grove will win the Region but will not advance past the third round.
Creekside will finish 2nd in the Region but will not advance past the 2nd round.
North Paulding will win the Region and will advance to the 2nd round.
Martin Luther King
Looks like the toughest Region in Class AAAAA Tucker will win the Region and will more than likely play in the North Georgia Championship (last game before the State Title).
Stephenson will finish 2nd in the Region and will advance to the 2nd round.
Martin L King will advance to the second round.
Kell will win the Region and will advance past the 2nd round.
Gainesville will win the Region and will more than likely play a South Georgia Team in the semi finals.
Flowery Branch will advance to the 2nd round.
Clarke Central will advance past the first round.
The team to beat is Tucker and Gainesville.
Bradwell Institute is slowly getting better in my opinion. The JV I heard is really doing well. You can expect Bradwell Institute to be back to winning games within three years or less.
McMillan dropped out of being number one after the lost to Statesboro. But he is still number one to me in my opinion. They will beat Wayne County.
LeCounte, keep an eye on him. He is definitely Division I caliber.
What a great game Friday night down in Brunswick! To be tied at 14 all in the fourth quarter on the road versus a quality opponent like Glynn Academy is a testament to just how far this team has come in essentially six months. Keep in mind, this game ended 55-0 just last year and it could have been much worse. The Tigers overcame a 14-0 halftime deficit to tie it but just didn’t have enough left in the end. Our kids fought all night long; heart and character are both back in this program.
No good coach will sing the praises of moral victories nor will he make excuses for his team. And believe me; we have a good coach-period. But as a supporter I will say that we are certainly on the right track. Nothing could be more obvious! At no fault to the kids, we are physically behind the better, established programs. But that too is changing fast. It is a process and to me, BI is further along at this point than I thought they would be.
We have a wonderful group of kids at BI who have been asked to do things that have never been asked of them before and at a level they have never been accustomed to and the response has been tremendous. That is a testament to these kids and to their leader, Adam Carter!
I encourage everyone who even remotely considers themselves to be a part of BI nation to show your support for Coach Carter, these kids, and the program in general. I assure you they are proud of who they are and you all should be as well!
Greeting to all BI Fans!!!! New to this so be patient. I have seen most of the BI games and a few of the practices. Coach Carter and company, seems to have a good plan to build a top quality team, but it will take a couple of seasons..still need to win a signature game and turn the corner on "can we?" to the "WE CAN!!!" attitude. I like the pace of the practices and it does transition to the game. You know what they say, "What you do in practice, you do in a game!" I'll echo the call for all BI fans and supporters....come out this friday night and get behind your TIGERS. This is a key matchup and a great test for this team. Go Tigers!!!
Has anyone seen AAA Buford play? I watched them handle AAAAA defending champion Gainsville easily 38-14. I think they are the best team in the state in any classification. Their run of State Championships is very impressive.2001,2002,2003,2007,2008,2009,2010,2012.
I would love to see them play AAAAAA teams North Gwinnett or Colquitt County.
Glad to see you back 31313.
I haven’t seen much of Buford this year but I am going to assume they are as strong as ever. The Gainesville score reflects that. I will say they have a tremendous program obviously but when you are a city school in Gwinnett County with an open enrollment, and when you are proven to be a formidable program, you should be good. Any exceptional athlete within driving distance would want to play there. I am not sure how the whole “open enrollment” thing works. My basic understanding is that they can draw from anywhere inside Gwinnett County. Surely that isn’t the case. But it might be. I hear Calhoun High is the same way (another dominate program in Gordon County.) Does anyone know if that is the case with either school or any school for that matter?
It's good to be back. But as the Holiday Season approaches with great speed, I am becoming very busy with work. Lots of catching up to do since the Government Shutdown. I wasn't kidnapped. Someone kidnap me, after having me for 5 minutes, they will take me back where they kidnapped me from. lol... You know how much I love the game of football. I could watch it year round.
There is absolutely no doubt that This is becoming a better Bradwell Institute Football team. In time, everything will fall into place. Not just football, but in all athletics at Bradwell Institute. Coach Carter, the coaching cadre', and supporters, are definitely making this a much better athletic program. I am elated and I am proud of all of them.
Thank you, and I'm glad to be back. I know all about Buford. Buford has always been a perennial within their class. They beaten teams in the State's highest classification before, too even include Gainesville. Buford is a very good team along with the State Titles to prove it.
You are correct. Buford Class AAA, Calhoun Class AA have both won State Titles. In my opinion, Gwinette County has the best football program as the majority of the affluence live in that County, and they pump an enormous amount of money into their athletic programs.
Example: Grayson, North Gwinette, Flowery Branch, Buford, Brookwood, Norcross, and Archer. They are have a very good football program. For the last three years, in the State Highest Classification 2012 and prior, Gwinette County has won the State Football Championship.
2012 Class AAAAA State Champions Norcross
2011 Class AAAAA State Champions
2010 Class AAAAA State Champions
What schools are doing now to get around zone, and recruiting violations, is that they have a magnet program or some type of immersion program. A student can be bus from any where within the County to a particular school, if the student is accepted into that program. If Bradwell Institute start a program, (magnet or immersion program ie French, Computer Technology etc.) they can take on students from any where in Liberty County. School Buses can, and will transport them to and from school from their home. So if a very talented athlete wants to play for your team, he can enter into this type of program, and play sports for your school without any penalty. Or if your parents are very wealthy, they can rent an apartment or purchase a home within the zone of your school and that student could play sports for that school with no penalty. No Georgia Schools do that all the time. Especially Gwinette County. The talent pool runs deep.
