CCSS sometimes take a beating in the court of public opinion around the country, but one place it does appear to clearly have its advantages is in the case of children of military families. This opinion piece in The Bellingham (WA) Herald does a good job of pointing out the advantages - not just for military families but across the board:
I'm very happy we have someone in the district to help military students navigate the school system. I know there is someone on post but it's good to have someone in the public school system advocating for military students. My son experienced several relocation's but I made it work. I'm sure it would have been a much easier process if we had a military consultant at our disposal to ensure his transition was smooth. I know that your located at the board of education office but how can I refer a parent to you?
