As the impending disaster colloquially known as ObamaCare approaches, the truth is starting to crawl out of the woodwork. In a triple-whammy published in three separate online publications within the past 24 hours, the headlines tell the story:

*Obamacare Will Increase Health Spending By $7,450 For A Typical Family of Four

See: http://www.forbes.com/sites/theapothecary/2013/09/23/its-official-obamacare-will-increase-health-spending-by-7450-for-a-typical-family-of-four/

* Lower Health Insurance Premiums to Come at Cost of Fewer Choices

See: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/23/health/lower-health-insurance-premiums-to-come-at-cost-of-fewer-choices.html?_r=0

*'Family glitch' in health law could be painful - It could leave up to 500,000 children without coverage and cost some families thousands of dollars."

See: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2013/09/23/aca-family-glitch-issues/2804017/

All of this is on top of the double-whammy that:

*"Not only can’t you keep your doctor, you may not even have a doctor; Obamacare-exchange insurance is essentially Medicaid lite – insurance but few doctors who will see you."

See: http://legalinsurrection.com/2013/09/not-only-cant-you-keep-your-doctor-you-may-not-even-have-a-doctor/

*"Obamacare will question your sex life"

See: http://nypost.com/2013/09/15/obamacare-will-question-your-sex-life/

All of this "good news" is the capper to the massively detrimental effect ObamaCare will have on the business community and the health services professions, which have been hot topics since the "Affordable Care Act" was passed.

Think a sequester or government shutdown will be bad? Just imagine how it will feel when they coincide with the implementation of ObamaCare and its "individual mandate." Max Baucus said it best: a train wreck.

So - in the immortal words of Michael Buffer:

The joys of ObamaCare are just days away....as ordered up by our Commander-in-Chief. Enjoy!

Amazing how many stupid people believe this... Your insurance rates wouldn't be going up if the state joined the medicaid expansion programs of exchanges where you can find insurance from the exchanges across the country! Your evil republican Governor, turned down the extra help offered for the next ten years, so if you mad at anyone, it should be this evil guy and your Governor! Their are the ones working for the Insurance companies ,that are screwing you now!

Over 40% of people who lost their homes to bankruptcy in America lost them over medical bills.

PN: I'm not making this stuff up. The stories are from Forbes magazine - a respected business publication, and the Washington Post/USATODAY - bastions of the liberal media. THEY are reporting what they believe to be FACTS. Those who call people who believe it "stupid" only have their own heads buried in the sand - which as we all know exposes their most vulnerable spot.

ObamaCare is coming. The politicking is almost over for BOTH sides. Now we will see the actual EFFECTS. They are just starting to be reported now.

PoliticsNation commented on Monday, Sep 23, 2013 at 20:02 PM

@Sebekm. I know that your a reliable source when it comes to information. I just question the motive of the vendors. Your right, it's coming so we will have a lot to debate about.

PN, I don't know where you've been since 2009; however we have been warning about this for 4 years now. So my question to you is; Why don't you believe the truth? "Still"

PoliticsNation commented on Monday, Sep 23, 2013 at 20:36 PM

@Funk-its not all truth. Ive been around. I really took an interest in health care when I had to switch jobs and ended up paying almost 1,000 a month to COBRA until the insurance on my new job kicked in. That was for a family of 1. I also, took an interest when CIGNA kicked 8 million people off coverage for no reason..this was before the ACA.

....and here's another unsolicited testimonial:

"One man's ObamaCare nightmare

Andy and Amy Mangione of Louisville, Ky. and their two boys are just the kind of people who should be helped by ObamaCare. But they recently got a nasty surprise in the mail.

"When I saw the letter when I came home from work," Andy said, describing the large red wording on the envelope from his insurance carrier, "(it said) 'your action required, benefit changes, act now.' Of course I opened it immediately."

It had stunning news. Insurance for the Mangiones and their two boys, which they bought on the individual market, was going to almost triple in 2014 --- from $333 a month to $965.

The insurance carrier made it clear the increase was in order to be compliant with the new health care law.

"This isn't a Cadillac plan, this isn't even a silver plan," Mangione said, referring to higher levels of coverage under ObamaCare.

"This is a high deductible plan where I'm assuming a lot of risk for my health insurance for my family. And nothing has changed, our boys are healthy-- they're young --my wife is healthy. I'm healthy, nothing in our medical history has changed to warrant a tripling of our premiums.

"Well I'm the one that does the budget,” said his wife. "Eventually I've got that coming down the pike that I gotta figure out what we're gonna cut what we're gonna do, to afford a $1,000 a month premium."

Their insurance company, Humana, declined to comment, but the notice to the Mangiones carried this paragraph:

" If your policy premium increased, you should know this isn't unique to Humana -- premium increases generally will occur industry-wide.

"Increases aren't based on your individual claims or changes in health status," it continued. "Many other factors go in to your premium including: ACA compliance, including the addition of new essential health benefits.""

Now - before anybody criticizes the source - you better believe that FoxNews has their stuff together on this story because they know that the rest of the lamestream media would DESTROY them if this story was made up. So I think we need to take it at face value. And this story is not an isolated case. I've seen reports of this all over the internet and my daughter has PERSONAL EXPERIENCE with the joys of ObamaCare premium increases.

PN: You're right - there'll be plenty to debate, but I say after 6-12 months of ObamaCare, the vast American conspiracy (that is, premium-payers on the left, center, and right) will be going nuts when the full impact hits home.

A law which MAYBE helps 15-17% of a population but screws the other 85-87% is BAD LEGISLATION.

Sorry, The Latest Anti-Obamacare Article To Go Viral Is Totally Wronghttp://thinkprogress.org/.../2666391/anti-obamacare-article/

sebekm commented on Tuesday, Sep 24, 2013 at 14:33 PM

If I had to make a choice on who's telling the truth between Forbes.com and "ThinkProgress.org" and their shills - I'm sorry but I'll take Forbes every time. ThinkProgress.org and those in league with them are in the business of selling all things left and all things Obama. Forbes is a business publication which is designed to look out for business, business people, investors and others who have a stake in our economy. ThinkProgress.org is using a typical tactic of accusing "opponents of ObamaCare" of engaging in propaganda - in hopes that their readers won't recognize that that is EXACTLY what ThinkProgress.org is doing.

Also - note that the Forbes.com article I cited is ONLY ONE OF MANY which outlines why ObamaCare is BAD LEGISLATION. Ask the Mangiones (cited in my most recent post above) whether the TRIPLING of their insurance premiums is FALSE. They wish it was, but unfortunately it's not. In six months to a year we'll certainly be able to ask people who have fewer choices (or no choices) about whether they "like" ObamaCare. We will also certainly be hearing from the millions of people who have their premiums jacked up due to nobody's fault but Obamacare whether they are happy.

sebekm commented on Tuesday, Sep 24, 2013 at 14:41 PM

....and we'll also be hearing from millions whose job status has been shifted from permanent to temporary; whose hours have been decreased to less than 30 per week; and those who have been furloughed or simply let go because their employers couldn't or wouldn't put up with requirements of ObamaCare. We probably won't be hearing from the MILLIONS who can't find a job because businesses aren't hiring because they don't want to put up with the requirements of ObamaCare. Why? Because those sorry souls won't even know who might have hired them. They will just be STUCKEES of ObamaCare.

We also won't be hearing from our Congressional representative - who have a cushy health care arrangement which EXEMPTS them from ObamaCare. But I guarantee you there will be tremendous howling if they become stuckees along with the rest of us in the 85-87%.

sebekm commented on Tuesday, Sep 24, 2013 at 14:43 PM

...from our Congressional representatives, that is....

PoliticsNation commented on Tuesday, Sep 24, 2013 at 14:48 PM

Seb....I'm sorry but I have to go with think progress on this. They have several reliable sources that there pulling from. You may as well except it's some holes in your story...

sebekm commented on Tuesday, Sep 24, 2013 at 14:52 PM

..and I'll have to go with Forbes.com, the NY Times, USATODAY.com, legalinsurrection.com, the NY Post, and the Mangiones. Your ThinkProgress.org only attacks ONE of my sources and one of the aspects I cited.

And it is not "MY story." It is theirs.
