Yea! A female Lee Greenwood. I just was not one of John Fogerty's Fortunate Sons, but as the now deceased "worlds oldest teenager", Dick Clark, would have said: "it's got a nice beat and you can dance to it, so I give it an 85."

JimmyMack commented on Friday, Sep 13, 2013 at 06:35 AM

I find these lyrics more appropriate for where we are headed.

JimmyMack commented on Friday, Sep 13, 2013 at 12:20 PM

Hi Sebe. Yes, what you wrote is very correct. I guess you can tell how big an effect those A-Bomb drills we endured at school had on me. Maybe it was because we were so close to the military base. I really don't know for sure. But we had more A-Bomb drills than fire drills. During the Cuban missile crisis in Oct of '62 and the Bay of Pigs fiasco(JFK visited Ft.Stewart) Bradwell students were made well aware of what a nuclear 'event' meant. We were force fed the possibility that we could survive one by climbing under our wooden desks and covering our heads. They didn't tell us our desks actually amounted to climbing under kindling wood. Fear became part of our unstated curriculum.

I concur that it is nice to hear the sound of patriotic music. My chest still swells and my eyes still tear when I hear songs about our country and the sacrafices those have made before me. Thanks for sharing.

JimmyMack commented on Friday, Sep 13, 2013 at 16:01 PM

When I hear Ray Charles sing America the Beautiful I feel the same way HMJC. However, when I hear Roseanne Barr sing the National Anthem I projectile vomit.

Seeing how this is a music blog here's another song!

Funkentelecky commented on Friday, Sep 13, 2013 at 21:22 PM

This was also Herman Cain’s official Presidential theme song for 2012, see:

Remember this video, Herman Cain was kicking A$$ at this time and the mainstream media smeared and drug his name in the dirt on accusations only. You are a racist and hate a black man if you challenge Obama on anything whether fact or fiction.

JimmyMack commented on Friday, Sep 13, 2013 at 21:42 PM

Not in my scorebook, Funk, my articulate conservative friend. The racist fire walls that you site as being attributed to the mainstream media are the mastermind of the Right, Karl (with a K as in Marx) Rove. That particular card is used when the Right has no where to go.

Cain was a womanizer and possibly worse. Not that we Dems care so much. I kinda liked the dude. His wife knew when to reel him in, and did so. No telling what was left under the sheets had he not withdrawn when he did. Again, we Dems coulda lived with the tabloid skin stuff.

But alas, Republican's got this thing about sex and all. He had to go...according to their skewed value system.

Funkentelecky commented on Friday, Sep 13, 2013 at 22:15 PM

He's got it coming to him," said Ben Bradlee, former editor of The Washington Post. "You can't do that in this town anymore. Probably could do it 50 years ago, but you can't do it now."
The "he" was Herman Cain. The "that" means sexual harassment. And the "got it coming" means the media firestorm around the Republican front-runner as he deals with the sexual misconduct accusations that threaten to derail Cain's surprisingly strong candidacy.
Bradlee made the Cain comment while at a book party for MSNBC host Chris Matthews' new biography about the Democratic Party's icon, John F. Kennedy, handsome, dashing and forever young — who screwed around big-time on his popular and elegant wife. When asked what he liked about Matthews' new book, Bradlee said, "I like the guy who wrote it, and I like the guy he wrote it about."
The irony seemed to be lost on Mr. Bradlee.
Bradlee wags his finger at Cain for alleged "sexual harassment" and insists, "He's got it coming to him." But on the same night, Bradlee celebrates a man who not only serially cheated, but who jeopardized national security by sleeping with the girlfriend of a big-time Chicago mobster.
Certainly, "it was a different time," with the all-male reporter's boys club looking the other way. But Kennedy kept his affairs secret from wife and country for a reason. Trying telling your wife — even in the '60s — "Honey, this afternoon — when you're out with your lunch friends — I'm throwing a nude pool party. There may be, some, you know, some 20-something young ladies, some actually wearing bathing suits. Oh, then I'm going out with the girlfriend of a gangster. Don't wait up."
"Certainly, dear"??? "Have a good time"??? "I'll leave the porch light on for you"???
Not likely. Even in the '60s, on a deal like this, Harriet ditches Ozzie, June leaves Ward, and Lucy drops Ricky.
And if 15-year-old allegations of "sexual harassment" rate high on the Democrats' character scale, please explain the deification of Bill Clinton. OK, he balanced the budget. But there was ...
Paula Jones: About whom a Clinton surrogate said, "If you drag a $100 bill through a trailer park, you never know what you'll find." Apparently you find $850K to settle a lawsuit. Clinton accused Jones of lying about sexual harassment and filing a lawsuit that lacked merit, then settled the case out of court for $850K.

Funkentelecky commented on Friday, Sep 13, 2013 at 22:20 PM

Gennifer Flowers: Clinton surrogates trashed her as a "saloon singer." (Do we even still have "saloons"?) Clinton publicly called her a liar. Years later, Clinton finally admitted that, yes, Flowers told the truth when she said their relationship had been sexual.
Monica Lewinsky: Clinton publicly accused the White House intern of lying; then lied about the affair under oath; became the first sitting president in history to be found in contempt of court; was impeached for lying under oath and obstruction of justice — the first and only elected president to have been impeached; and temporarily lost his law license.
Kathleen Willey: Told "60 Minutes" that she visited Bill Clinton in the Oval Office, where, she says, Clinton hugged and kissed her. When she tried to push him away, "he touched my breasts with his hand ... and then he whispered ... 'I've wanted to do this ever since I laid eyes on you.' ... He took my hand, and he put it ... on his genitals." Finally, says Willey, she managed to push him away. In a classic exercise in rationalization, feminist Gloria Steinem said, So what? "Even if (Willey's) accusation are true," Steinem insisted, Clinton is "not guilty of sexual harassment." Why? Well, Steinem wrote, "(Willey) pushed him away, she said, and it never happened again. In other words, President Clinton took 'no' for an answer.
Juanita Broaddrick: Told NBC News that then-Arkansas Attorney General and gubernatorial candidate Bill Clinton raped her: "I first pushed him away. I just told him 'no.' ... He tries to kiss me again. He starts biting on my lip. ... And then he forced me down on the bed. I just was very frightened. I tried to get away from him. I told him 'no.' ... He wouldn't listen to me."
GOP haters delight in denouncing former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich as "the guy who served divorce papers on his wife as she was in the hospital for cancer." But as to JFK, the sexually reckless president from Camelot? Hey, whatever.
The National Enquirer, not the "mainstream" media, broke the story about John Edwards' love child and his long extramarital affair — as his wife was dying of cancer. But the same slow-on-Edwards media snapped to attention on the Cain allegations. Are the Cain allegations newsworthy, legitimate areas for media investigation? Absolutely. Sexual misconduct and the gravity of the misconduct go to the issue of character.
Except, of course, when applied to Bill Clinton and Jack Kennedy.

See, Jimmy you condemn a conservative without actual guilt by law; however you give a Democrat President a pass all day long when guilt is actually proven. However I understand that you don't have the time to research the lamestream media appropriately.

Funkentelecky commented on Friday, Sep 13, 2013 at 22:43 PM

Jimmy, I appreciate your personal feelings about this and I don't dismiss Karl either, however the liberal mainstream media is in charge of most information distribution overall!

timeontarget commented on Saturday, Sep 14, 2013 at 06:30 AM

I enjoyed the music, all of it.

Funkentelecky thank you for your, as usual. in depth discussion and honest report on historical fact.

Cain could have made a wonderful President and the liberal media destroyed him so that the puppet could be elected.

President Obama is little more than a puppet and we are stuck with him because of our liberal electorate who all have their hands out but mostly don't want a hand up.

I'm sure you know what I mean.

Sebe you too are correct, as usual, in that we have been on the eve of destruction for a long time.

I know that some such as myself tend to dwell on that too much.

timeontarget commented on Saturday, Sep 14, 2013 at 06:38 AM

We all have various levels of skill sets when it comes to expression, written or spoken.

President Obama is an eloquent orator.

They say he uses a teleprompter but I imagine most all of our politicians do that.

I am saddened by what I have witnessed in this community since the later part of the forties.

Most of our elected officials are little more than talented speakers.

Occasionally good people are elected.

I would like to see us return to the basics.

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Sep 14, 2013 at 08:00 AM

Gosh Funk. I said we dems didn't care too much about Cains bed hoppin, Republicans are the ones obsessed with sex. They are fixated on bodily fluids.(think blue dress here.) I kinda actually like Cain. It was his wife that brung him inside the house.

Anyway Funk, you and my other articulate friend Sebe, sure do seem obsessed with overkill lately.

Yall need to use some of those research skills and find Tot some songs to listen too. Besides we Dems like Sex; having it and talking about it.

BTW Brother Bill was not the first President Impeached. You are showing a chink in your research armor. Look up Andrew Johnson, my friend.

timeontarget commented on Saturday, Sep 14, 2013 at 12:01 PM

Sheran your link posted Friday at 20:02 PM had some very appropriate other selections.

Please go back and give our participants easy access to the Ronald Reagan Humor.

I also enjoyed the Bellamy Brothers.

Music is the universal language.

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Sep 14, 2013 at 13:59 PM

This is my favorite Bellamy Brothers song. Hope it comes up.

Funkentelecky commented on Saturday, Sep 14, 2013 at 14:22 PM

Thanks, Jimmy you are right that the extreme right is fixated on the sex thing and I'm not. However the liberal media (Democrats) set the tone of the narrative and turned Cain’s trivial personal matter into a big deal. They didn't do that to Clinton and they won't for Obama either. Regardless of Bill's sexual escapades this doesn't change my opinion on his outstanding economic leadership skills and I give him an A as President of the US because he ACTUALLY worked with Newt and the Republicans. Remember his last 6 years the Republicans controlled congress and they triangulated their ideas for the good of the country that led to a $260B budget surplus.

BTW Jimmy, Chief MVB and I have a lot in common and one of the most significant one is that we are “perfectionist” I was analyzed as so by Training Solutions, INC and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. Of course none of us are perfect s however Chief and I are dead set on finding out all the facts to make the best decision possible. I don’t care what party you are from or support I just support what’s right, rules on the books before I support what’s wrong, personal feelings by manipulating the rules.

Here’s a real example; Obama, the Democrats and Unions shoved Obamacare down our throats and said how great it would be in 2010 and passed the bill un-constitutionally without a single Republican vote because it is too radical. The Presidents job is the execute the laws passed by congress and signed by, he has changed 19 provisions in the law without congressional approval the most recent employer mandate being pushed back to 2015. He is supposedly a constitutional scholar however I can find nowhere in the constitution that he is authorized to do this after passage of a bill.

So Jimmy Chief and I aren’t obsessed with overkill we are appalled by mainstream liberal media that won’t give us the whole story so that we can fully vet our chosen leaders. If the media reported all the information or at least 51% of our population was like Chief and I, the Democrat Party would surely die. One of the main reasons conservatism won’t die is because it promotes the truth.

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Sep 14, 2013 at 14:54 PM

Ok, ok, ok, I get it, then. Now don't get too upset for being not so perfect regarding Brother Bill being the first President to be impeached. He wasn't. Andrew Johnson was.

Anyway it seems to me all that energy on perfectionism may not be healthy on the gut; ulcers, waking up at nite trying to remember if you covered it all, and formulating stress in general.

But hey! If it works for you...then go for it.

I've got to go now and start drinking and finish cooking before Johnny Football gets his A$$ handed to him by the Tide.

BTW all my psyche tests said I would never amount to anything in life and would end up pi$$ing a lot of people off.

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Sep 14, 2013 at 15:25 PM

One more thing Funk my friend, you and the MVB might want to consider some other tests like the Rorschach and the MMPI. Cause it appears to me that there may be a tad of OCD going on in that gray matter.

Definitely going to start drinking now.

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Sep 14, 2013 at 16:10 PM

Oh, and Funk in your second paragraph on the post made at 14:22, "perfectionist" should be plural. A perfectionist would want to be made aware of that. Along with everything else.

Loosen up some, my friend. Loosen up.

14-7 A&M right now. Amazing game....amazing.

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Sep 14, 2013 at 16:37 PM

My brudder whose business of Darsey-Black and Associates administers a vast array of psychological assessments. If it was me....I would want a complete picture rather than place everything comprising what I may or may not be in a psychic sense, in more than one or just two baskets. There is much potential for inaccuracy in relying on what is called in the psychological measurement game taking a "snapshot" rather than say measuring one in a "video" type format over several days and different times affording more depth and potential for developing a more complete picture of the status, variance and nuances of the human psyche.

timeontarget commented on Saturday, Sep 14, 2013 at 17:32 PM

Sheran, Thanks.

It is extremely funny but it also is actually the truth.

Funkentelecky commented on Sunday, Sep 15, 2013 at 12:21 PM

Jimmy, I think Larry Elder was meaning first to be impeached for contempt of court for lying under oath and first to temporarily losing his law license. I could be wrong and it wasn’t my mistake but you can tag me for an oversight if you wish to.

And Jimmy I was attempting to give you personal information about me to influence a better understanding between us and maybe I shouldn’t have interjected Chief into that comment; however he does refer to himself as a “perfectionist” in his bio.

Just understand this, in reality I understand that it is a pursuit of perfectionism and that because I’m human just as everyone else I will still make mistakes. I try harder not to and I try harder to get along with people too; however I’m not willing to compromise in regards to right or wrong.

However Jimmy back to the main point that you seem to dismiss, is that the mainstream liberal media demonized a great American because of accusations from two women that wasn’t even proven in court. They ran it over and over and over again until even you, in your post at 21:42 stated “Cain is a womanizer and possibly worse”. Rove and the Republicans didn’t run the narrative; the Democrat liberal media did and in regards to Clinton wasn’t run over and over again even though it was proven facts. This is how Democrats stay in power and can do some of the most despicable things that conservatives can’t, and get away with it.

JimmyMack commented on Sunday, Sep 15, 2013 at 16:03 PM

OK Funk my man. You are certainly one of the most easiest conservatives to talk to that I have ever met. If that particular characteristic is a result of being a perfectionist, than I wish there were more on the right like you. You do seem more than willing to get along with someone like me, who for all intents and purposes is your political opposite. Doesn't mean we are going to come together on most political issues, but it holds promise that a respectful cordiality can be made between us.

And to Sebe I would say: Is Horschach really dead?

Funkentelecky commented on Sunday, Sep 15, 2013 at 19:13 PM
