This new 5-minute video from the Tax Policy Center at the Urban Institute provides a really excellent explanation about the 47% -- now 43% -- of Americans who do not pay federal income taxes. Very well done and very clever. And very informative.

The bottom line is 43% are still not paying Federal Income Tax. All the other taxes listed do not reduce the tax burdon of the 57% that are paying. 34% is also a nice projection. 2022 is also a long ways away. Lastly it clearly alludes that portions are committed to social programs although it does not provide the %. To be honest all that was is a feel good it's all ok there is no problem whitewash video.

PoliticsNation,

I believe you mis-coded your blog. This should be in Politics or General section. You coded this under Sports. :-)

Sporty: You don't find income tax evasion a "sporting" activity?

If you are involved in private enterprise the tax burden is far more intrusive and expensive than if you derive your income from some governmental source.

Those on social programs in this country may pay sales tax but they are paying with taxpayer's money. Excellent article in last Sunday's Savannah Morning News about the social programs in this country. Just might open some folks eyes to what is really going on. Some of these folks make more than people working for minimum wage. Something wrong with the system when that occurs. Where is the incentive to work? Is there any reason to doubt why that 43% pay no Federal income tax?
