Thursday has been mentioned as the day a potential "attack" on Syria could commence. Kind of ironic the French want to get into the fray; not usualy their stance... There really is more at stake here than just than the chemical weapons. Assad has continued basically unabatted for two years. He is emboldened along with the rest of the middle east. It is time to remind some of these cats that human decency still counts. Right now Assad is beating his chest, Russia and China are saying it is a "bad" idea. Time to remind those two cats what they are up against to. Lastly it's time for obama to stand and deliver; anything else will be considered a further sign of weakness and a failure. More to follow I am sure.

Hi HMJC: Whether we like it or not the US MUST take into consideration what China, Russia, Iran, and even Israel might do. As I commented to Sebe as you both are former military men, Command HAS to consider ALL contingencies for a strike on Syria. Syria along with Iran has said if the US strikes it will turn the Mideast into a firestorm. Does that mean rockets will rain down on Israel? Will Israel sit still if that happens? What will Turkey do?

However, I think the pieces are almost in place. As one engaged in a chess match and visualizes a Checkmate, so the US. will be when we hit Syria. With little or no loss of American life and Assad driven from power.

I really am reticent about even mentioning this cause its over and done and could politicize your blog. However, I distinctly recall Colin Powell telling George W. Bush who was seeking his advice regarding invading Iraq. Colin looked him directly in the eye and said in terms W. could understand, "Mr. President, just be aware that if you break it, you own it."

Thus trillions were spent anyway on an albeit evil dictator that was already in check with no fly zones and was a barrier to Islamic Fundamentalism. We never should have invaded Iraq. But W. had to hit SOMEBODY and since Al Quaeda was in the shadows, W. decided let's kick Saddams butt for having non existent WMD's and because "he tried to kill my daddy #41."

Anyway, stay tuned and maybe we will get some of those great missile videos of rockets slamming into Chemical Plants and Syrian Airfields and Jets.

Just having a bad hair day is all... and JM you are right, there is no way of truly predicting 100% what the fallout will be however, if Assad continues unabatted the potential for his cancer to spread is very possible

This is for my Conservative friends:
Considering yalls assessment that Obama moved too slowly on this one...Instead of calling the forthcoming strike Shock and Awe yall might want to call it Yawn and Shock.

Those are soverign nations in the middle east.

We are not the world police.

The last military success was WWII.

We need to stay home and mind our own business.

Iraq has become glaring proof that you cannot bestow Democracy on tribal leaders in nations which have choosen to be tribal in their ways.

GOP Has to make opportunity count
November 17, 2014
The GOP is at a crucial crossroads right now. America has made it pretty clear how much faith it had in the current status quo. Even though I have always leaned towards the GOP side of the house this does negate the expectations I personally have for them. The GOP ...

ISIL, The Next 10 Year War
November 04, 2014
As election day comes and goes our Commander and Chump is quietly drawing us deeper and deeper into the ISIL debacle. I had blogged previously about the ineffectiveness of the current effort. Utilizing air strikes has been completely ineffective to date. The reason this is a flawed response is the ...

"Greater Good"
October 28, 2014
“Greater Good”, a point or ideology that has been defined, perceived, twisted, etc. So what does this mean? Is it fair to even apply this concept as at the end of the day whatever the definition is construed; Man is still making that determination. So now here we are with ...

Crossroads
October 15, 2014
After pursing the “headlines” for the last couple of days it seems painfully apparent to me that our nation is at a perilous crossroad. We are mired in such discord that your average Dooms Day Prepper is doing jumping jacks saying “I told You So….” I try to do my ...

ISIS Endstate

Am I the only one that is concerned with the ineffective air campaign against ISIS? We seem to be going down the same road we did with Libya in regard to airstrikes that destabilize the region and disrupt the “enemy” but bring no semblance of peace and stability. Libya is ...
