Welcome to game week. This week in Liberty County, the fierce rivals between the Bradwell Institute Tigers, and the Liberty County Panthers are on course for a head on collision. Bradwell Institute’s head football coach Adam Carter will be making his final adjustments this week to prepare the Tigers for a showdown at Donnell Woods Stadium. Liberty County’s head football coach Kirk Warner is also fine tuning the Panther’s Offense and defense as the two roaring felines set for battle, this friday night under the lights. Last year, the Liberty County Panthers beat the Bradwell Institute Tigers at the new Olvey Field (Tiger Stadium) 13-7.

The Liberty County Panthers are looking to improve their record over last year being 6-4. They definitely have the personnel to achieve that quest. During the summer
workouts and practice, the Panthers have their eyes set on handing the Bradwell Institute Tigers another defeat. The Panthers has size, and they have speed. There will be hard hitting by that Panther Defense. You will have key Panther Players that will be playing on both sides of the ball.

The Bradwell Institute Tigers are in a rebuilding phase, and there is no doubt that the excitement and anticipation are in the atmosphere among fans, and players. Coach Adam Carter along with the coaching cadre have been working extremely hard to teach fundamentals, and techniques that the Tigers had been lacking for several years.
This Tiger football team has found themselves a new sense of pride, and confidence in themselves.

While the win, and loss out of this game will not affect either team in their region, the pride of winning between these two cross town rivals are a factor, as the winner will have bragging rights for a full year. The Liberty County Panthers appears to have more on their
side when it comes to experienced players, in addiion to Blue Chip Player, and touted Division 1 College recruit Raekwon McMillan.

Let’s prepare ourselves for one heck of a battle between Bradwell Institute and Liberty County. What is your prediction as to the winner of Friday night’s game? Let the clean sportsmanlike trash talking begin.

I am a BI grad and of course I am pulling for them. However, If Raekwon McMillan has one of his monster nights, with or without rain drops, it will turn into a long nite for BI.

SportsFan31313 commented on Monday, Aug 26, 2013 at 12:32 PM

I agree with you Jimmy Mack. However; I am pulling for my Alma Mater as well. GO Bradwell Tigers.

sebekm commented on Monday, Aug 26, 2013 at 19:37 PM

I gotta pull for the Tigers. It is important for them to get off to a good start.

Ted Harris commented on Tuesday, Aug 27, 2013 at 00:57 AM

The winner takes home the Commissioner's Cup trophy which was started in 2001. Bardwell retired the 1st cup by winning three games in a row,2001-2003. LCHS has its 1st Commissioner Cup II win. I think of this upcoming game as the, "Come and take it Bowl".

SportsFan31313 commented on Tuesday, Aug 27, 2013 at 06:19 AM

This will be a good measuring stick to see where both teams are when they clash this week. Liberty County has a great shot at having a successful season with all of these returning players.

Tiger5 commented on Tuesday, Aug 27, 2013 at 10:06 AM

I'm looking forward to it. I hope everyone shows up. It means a great deal to these kids.

SportsFan31313 commented on Tuesday, Aug 27, 2013 at 12:08 PM

Tiger 5,

You can bet your last dollar that that Stadium will be jammed packed. I honestly believe that Bradwell will be ready this Friday as well.

Tiger5 commented on Tuesday, Aug 27, 2013 at 13:07 PM

I hope so. Remember to wear a royal blue shirt; better yet, go by the school and get a game-day T-shirt. That goes for all BI supporters. It sure is nice for those of us here in Hinesville to actually look forward to Friday nights in the fall in South Georgia; as it should be.

And, yes, BI will be as ready as possible. This is a process. All they can do is get better everyday. And they are. And as you have said yourself, it WILL take time. But I can promise you and everyone else, we ARE on the right path. That is a fact.

SportsFan31313 commented on Tuesday, Aug 27, 2013 at 14:57 PM

Tiger 5,

I honestly believe you. I have seen the improvement that with my own eyes. I am very excited about this Bradwell Institute Football Program. Already you can see that it is so much better than it was in the previous years. Confidence is very high, and you can see in the players. I know it will take time, but I honestly believe that we are well on our way back to the glory days.... GO Tigers!!!

Georgeann7 commented on Tuesday, Aug 27, 2013 at 15:25 PM

I can tell you that morale is high amongst the Bradwell players and they are AGAIN able to hold their heads up high in AND wear their jerseys on Fridays to school! They are young, but hungry for a win! I'm ready for some GREAT rival football on Friday night! GO TIGERS!!!!

Tiger5 commented on Tuesday, Aug 27, 2013 at 15:55 PM

Sounds good to me, Georgeann7!

From what I have seen, the kids have responded well to the "new way" and deserve a great deal of credit for doing so. I am so glad that they can be proud of who they are.

Ted Harris commented on Tuesday, Aug 27, 2013 at 16:01 PM

Hi SF3 and tiger5, This is the 1st true home game for the panthers in over 20 years of football between the two schools. GO PANTHERS !!!

JimmyMack commented on Tuesday, Aug 27, 2013 at 18:45 PM

I am waxing melancholy right now. I remember when BI was the LIONS. It all changed in '73. Lions are Kings and on one sour note: Tigers is the MOST common mascot name in AMerica.

I wish we were the Bradwell Institute Lions!!! We were a glorious bunch.

sebekm commented on Tuesday, Aug 27, 2013 at 20:32 PM

Why did they change it?

Tiger5 commented on Tuesday, Aug 27, 2013 at 21:23 PM

sebekm,

As I understand it, when the schools were desegregated, they closed Liberty High but kept Liberty County High's mascot (Tigers)and kept Bradwell Institute, renamed the Tigers, in place of the Lions. I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

SportsFan31313 commented on Tuesday, Aug 27, 2013 at 21:53 PM

Tiget5,

You are correct. The two schools emerged and the new Bradwell Institute became the Tigers. Bradwell Institute colors were Blue and White. Libertty County Colors wete Purple & Gold.
Bradwe Institute Mascot was the Lions and Liberty County was the Tigers. I was a small kid back then, but there was a boycott or what I can remember, was somewhat of a civil movement back then. I stand to be corrected but I remember that somewhat back then. It was a buge disagreement as to what the new school would be named. If I'm not mistaken, I think Al Williams ked this movement.

SportsFan31313 commented on Wednesday, Aug 28, 2013 at 07:12 AM

Greetings Ted Harris,

This will be one heck of football game between these two cross town rivals, being played before a capacity crowd. The Liberty County Panthers have the experience players, in addition to their speed and size. The Bradwell Institute Tigers will enter the regular season with younger players, and will be giving up size. They don't have any blue chip Super 11 talent players. But what they do have is confidence, pride, guts, and heart. This game will definitely be an exciting one. Probably the best game of the regular season. Go Tigers!!!

Georgeann7 commented on Wednesday, Aug 28, 2013 at 07:22 AM

SportsFan31313 and Ted Harris,
It will be an exciting game alright and I wouldn't be surprised if we DID see a couple of Super 11 talented players emerge that night! Let's get back to football in Hinesville!! WHOOHOO!! The Tigers have my heart and my nod on this one! :) GO TIGERS!!

JimmyMack commented on Wednesday, Aug 28, 2013 at 09:32 AM

I am optimistic too Georgeann7. I just hope Raekwon can be contained.

Ted Harris commented on Wednesday, Aug 28, 2013 at 09:40 AM

Hi Winning The Commissioners Cup was a big deal for Bradwell a decade ago. They kept it in the front office. I recall the Tigers avg. 50 points a game in there three wins.

Georgeann7 commented on Wednesday, Aug 28, 2013 at 09:54 AM

Everyone has a big stake in the game Friday. I just want to see a good and fair game and at the end of the day we can congratulate the winner! And JimmyMack, I think he can and will be. ;)

Tiger5 commented on Wednesday, Aug 28, 2013 at 10:05 AM

There were only 100 tickets sent to BI as of this morning. Perhaps they can get more later but if that's where you planned on purchasing advanced tickets, you may want to do so promptly.

SportsFan31313 commented on Wednesday, Aug 28, 2013 at 13:57 PM

Tiger5,

WOW, only 100 tickets? That will probably be gone by today. I wonder why so little of amount?

SportsFan31313 commented on Wednesday, Aug 28, 2013 at 14:00 PM

Georgeann7,

No doubt. This will be an exciting game. I'm rooting for Bradwell as well. Go Tigers!!!!!

SportsFan31313 commented on Thursday, Aug 29, 2013 at 11:01 AM

Tiger5, Jimmy D, Sebekm, Georgeann7,

Well the spread is suggesting Liberty County wins by 14. I'm going against the grain. Liberty does seem to have all the trump cards though, and home field advantage, but this team is Bradwell Institute Tigers Team is playing with confidence. This will be a hard hitting, hard fought game to the finish. Don't be surprise that the score is still 0-0 at the half. I hope Bradwell does not cause any penalties, and keep mistakes to a bare minimum. This could be the key to winning this game.

SportsFan31313 commented on Thursday, Aug 29, 2013 at 11:02 AM

pardon the typos

Tiger5 commented on Thursday, Aug 29, 2013 at 13:27 PM

Who picked LCHS by 14?

SportsFan31313 commented on Thursday, Aug 29, 2013 at 14:17 PM

Maxwell Projections for this week GHSFA Football games this week.

SportsFan31313 commented on Thursday, Aug 29, 2013 at 15:38 PM

I really like defense. Even more than the offense as defense wins games. I'm going to go with Bradwell Institute because because of the intensity they are carry along with them. I know that Liberty County have the experienced players, and they hold the trump cards. But something deep inside tells me that Bradwell Institute will win this game tomorrow. Go Bradwell Institute Tigers...

Tiger5 commented on Thursday, Aug 29, 2013 at 16:36 PM

Ah...Maxwell. Well, that sounds like good bulletin board material to me!

SportsFan31313 commented on Thursday, Aug 29, 2013 at 20:09 PM

LOL Tiger5. But they are pretty good with their predictions.

SportsFan31313 commented on Friday, Aug 30, 2013 at 09:46 AM

Game day has arrived, and the moment of truth is near. 10 hours away from kickoff.
I'm quite sure that there will be a huge Pep Rally today at Both Schools.

Tiger5 commented on Friday, Aug 30, 2013 at 10:14 AM

So far this morning I have seen several "game day" shirts for both Liberty and Bradwell around town (BI's looks better, btw). This is how it SHOULD be. I hope the momentum maintains itself for both schools, beyond this weekend. It is good for the kids, the schools, and the community...GO TIGERS!!!

sebekm commented on Friday, Aug 30, 2013 at 11:17 AM

All the best and good luck to the Tigers!

Georgeann7 commented on Friday, Aug 30, 2013 at 12:57 PM

Wouldn't it be nice if it could get so big and popular in town as to have a parade again like I was told they used to?!?(But maybe I'm thinking about the Homecoming Parade) Good Luck and GO TIGERS!!!!

SportsFan31313 commented on Friday, Aug 30, 2013 at 13:03 PM

6.5 hours before kick off. Go Big Blue!!!!

SportsFan31313 commented on Friday, Aug 30, 2013 at 14:27 PM

Everyone need to get there at least one hour before kickoff.

PoliticsNation commented on Friday, Aug 30, 2013 at 15:18 PM

I'm on fire and ready to go...I hope we don't get rained out. I would like for everyone on the blog to wear a name tag (blog name) so I can put a face with a name...Want happen...BI all the way!!

sebekm commented on Friday, Aug 30, 2013 at 16:17 PM

Hopefully all the rain will dump before 6. Still have a soggy field, but perhaps attendance wouldn't be depressed too much.

Georgeann7 commented on Friday, Aug 30, 2013 at 17:25 PM

I think rain or shine, everyone will will be there! B-I....YOU KNOW!!!

Bradwell Institute 17

Liberty County 35 Final

Tiger5 commented on Friday, Aug 30, 2013 at 23:51 PM

Better game than the score. Too many BI turnovers; too many great Liberty athletes. Bradwell is on the right track though. Make no mistake about it.

Georgeann7 commented on Saturday, Aug 31, 2013 at 11:13 AM

I agree Tiger5! We had high hopes but what I saw last night was a team that is molding together. Coach Carter has had these guys 4-5 months and is doing a great job. Liberty County has been together for a few years with a coach that has built their program up. I was a little disappointed because I would have like to see them win. It was a GREAT and exciting game. But they have got to work on their turnovers. 3 fumbles in critical situations is what pretty much killed us. STILL love my Tigers! Wait until NEXT week! :) GO TIGERS!!

Tiger5 commented on Saturday, Aug 31, 2013 at 15:09 PM

It is impressive to me, even with Liberty's size, speed, and FBS recruits, that it really came down to turnovers. Stay the course, BI. You are on your way.

SportsFan31313 commented on Sunday, Sep 01, 2013 at 11:25 AM

Yes indeed it was a good game. Mistakes did them in. If it wasnt for the mistakes, that game would have been a lot closer. I thought we had a good chance when Bradwell closed the gap within four points. But again mistakes cost Bradwell. However; you have to give it to that Panters Defense. I can see that team winning their Sub Region easy.

SportsFan31313 commented on Sunday, Sep 01, 2013 at 11:33 AM

Tiger5,

Yes Coach Carter and company is definitely heading in the right direction. As I said in my earlier comments, Liberty County had the size, speed, and experienced players. But Bradwell is playing with confidence. What I do see is the Bradwell players are small. They have to get some size. Maybe some extra cheeseburgers wont hurt lol.., But Bradwell is geading in the right direction. Like I said, in two to three years, Bradwell will be a powerful football team.

SportsFan31313 commented on Sunday, Sep 01, 2013 at 11:35 AM

Heading in the right direction. Pardon the typos.
