I have no opinion on Paula Deen; I try not to follow the life and times of Paula Deen; I really don't care about Paula Deen. But in order to ensure that the whole story is told - and since such a big stink was made about Paula Deen on this here blog site a short while ago - I thought I'd test out the cut-and-paste capabilities of my new computer with this blog. I call it:

Fair And Balanced? - a.k.a. Discrimination LawsuitS (two of them per the article below) against Deen DISMISSED. From the USATODAY.com article:

"Discrimination suit against Deen dismissed

Sexual harassment claims tossed out two weeks after judge dismissed race allegations.

The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia Southern Division dismissed the discrimination lawsuit levied against celebrity chef Paula Deen.

The suit also involved Deen's brother Earl "Bubba" Hiers, alleging that the siblings fostered a workplace in their restaurants rife with racial discrimination and sexual harassment. Two weeks ago, a judge dismissed the racial discrimination claims, leaving the sexual harassment portion of the suit intact.

Now, the harassment claims have been dismissed and an undisclosed settlement has been reached between Deen and Hiers and the plaintiff, former employee Lisa Jackson. The final dismissal and settlement are reportedly just awaiting a judge's signature.

Because the case was dismissed without prejudice, Jackson cannot refile.

When the racial discrimination claims were dismissed on Aug. 13, Deen's reps issued a statement on her behalf expressing her pleasure with the legal victory.

"We are pleased with the court's ruling that Lisa Jackson's claims of race discrimination have been dismissed," Elana Weiss said in a statement e-mailed to the Associated Press. "As Ms. Deen has stated before, she is confident that those who truly know how she lives her life know that she believes in equal opportunity, kindness and fairness for everyone.""

Yee Ha!

PoliticsNation commented on Friday, Aug 23, 2013 at 20:02 PM

Don't jump to fast-It was dismissed because a settlement was reached and the race portion was thrown out because she was white

sebekm commented on Friday, Aug 23, 2013 at 21:10 PM

I don't care WHY it was dismissed. It was dismissed under conditions where no legal liability for any wrongdoing - civil or criminal - was assigned to Deen and the complainant can not refile. That is equivalent to a finding of NOT GUILTY. That's the other side of the story I intended to highlight. For all the fussing and fuming in media and blogs, the instant allegations are now procedurally dead.

Now just like Zimmerman, Deen will pay a price, but two lawsuits were DISMISSED in court.. That's the story here.

Sebekm, calm down. You really get heated on Fridays/weekend.

I thought from the beginning that it was a case of envy and greed from a former employee.

Our liberal counterparts who participate on this site jumped for joy and blindly blundered into jumping on a bandwagon destined to loose it's wheels.

Lets all take pleasure in the fact that justice has been served.

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 09:02 AM

There you go again Tot with your mass blaming of Liberals. I am a Liberal. Go back and read my statements regarding Ms. Deen. Even before the judge dismissed her case, I wrote that she deserved a second chance even if guilty.

I am growing tired Tot of your inability to master specificity in your libelous claims against all things Liberal.. YOu seem to forget that I know who you are, Mr. P. You are a reckless fool with a PC that "cannot cut and paste" even tho I have much distaste for your ramblings took the time telling you how to accomplish it.

I am growing tired of your mass labeling of Liberals as the boogey-man on these pages. You seem to be growing senile or are just plain stupid.

Either way, Mr. P you are digging your own hole here and I for one am NOT going to put up with it. You keep digging your hole Mr. P, because I am going to be the one who will be coming to fill it up with the dirt it so deserves.

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 09:19 AM

BTW Mr. P...... You wouldn't happen to know any words that rhyme with hadrick, would you? I got me some stories to write about a Mr. Hadrick.

Have a nice day you clown. You will have done what is coming to yourself and that deep and dark well of mass ignorance within you.

"Our liberal counterparts who participate on this site jumped for joy and blindly blundered into jumping on a bandwagon destined to loose it's wheels."

That's what I saw as well. There was much "heat" and a lack of "calm" in the Deen blogs when the story first hit. In fact, Deen was attacked as if by a pack of jackals. My point in this blog was to publish the OTHER SIDE - now that for all practical purposes Deen has been EXONERATED (like it or not - that is what dismissal of the lawsuits mean legally). I didn't see any of those who attacked Deen move quickly to publish the dismissals, so I grabbed that bull by the horns.

(Plus - I knew it would stimulate a little conversation when things here were moving a bit slow around here....)

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 12:39 PM

"Our liberal counterparts.." implies entirety Sebe. I was NOT one of those people. Tot's Sweeping Generalities of assessing blame to a Liberal GROUP is reckless. I am a liberal yet show me where it is that I, Jimmy Darsey, a confirmed Liberal, JUMPED FOR JOY!!

You wanted discussion? You got it. I find it terribly disappointing that you somehow find reason to get in between me and Tot. He's a big boy. Albeit an ignorant one, but a Big Boy nonetheless.

In fact, and I am sorry that you have driven me to even say this, but exactly what liberal counterparts are YOU talking about??

Names would be nice rather than lending support to group think. Especially so, regarding a less than erudite TOT who is lacking in such a capability.

This is heading for a showdown between me and Mr. P. and I consider you a learned and well versed friend, Sebe. You don't need to be in the vicinity when I cast my net over Mr.P (TOT)

PoliticsNation commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 12:50 PM

I blew up on Funk last night (Funk is my blog friend and I have respect for him), now this. Of course I have a special place in my blog heart for most of you but some of you often cross the line. I think most of the debates are healthy but you have some bloggers on here full of hate and want to cause dissension. I don't respond to those bloggers.

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 13:22 PM

It hasn't gone thermo-nuclear...YET PN.

We had a reckless individual here one time that went by the moniker Murrelett (sic). She antagonized many and was eventually kicked out of here. I, also, have been kicked out of here but was allowed to voice my apology to the person I did so offend, confess the errors of my ways, and promised to 'play' within the confines of this Blog site's TOS. And I have done so since then.

Now please remember this: we talk about such things as politics, Sex, and Religion here. THE Three Things my grandma said never to bring up in a conversation if you wanted the conversation to remain polite. As you may have noticed, there are some outright ignorant fools here. My problem is that I care not to suffer such individuals. Thus we have conflict at times. But the conflict must be within the rules. It may not be "polite" as my grandma would of wished, but when individuals such as TOT come here and blames the murder of those 20 children and six adults on Liberals, and I am of the Liberal persuasion, then I am not going to allow him to go unscathed for making such a damning statement regarding a group of people that I consider myself part of.

So, PN....I like you, I see some kindred spirit kinda thing going on between us maybe, but we as Liberals CANNOT let these Conservative fools go unchallenged. We must stand up to them. Especially when they are so un-self aware to see the sheer ignorance within them.

PoliticsNation commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 13:28 PM

I like you too. I think we do have that kindred spirit thing going on. I wondered what happened to Murrelett...

sebekm commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 14:15 PM

"....but exactly what liberal counterparts are YOU talking about??"

The ones who the shoe fits. If it doesn't fit you, then why get excited about it? And I'm not getting between you and TOT. But I will choose to comment - pro and con - on the posts of others here, as we all do, without restriction or fear of retribution by those who might conjure some ancillary slight from my posts.

And from comments like this, Jimmy:

"...we as Liberals CANNOT let these Conservative fools go unchallenged..."

you can not expect to be exempt from similar comments directed at "liberal fools" or other such synonyms. You - as a liberal - often attack conservatives and their ideas as being the wrong answer to our societal woes. You can not expect conservatives (or independents with conservative tendencies) to allow your comments to be unchallenged, or to have similar comments of their own about how liberals and their ideas are the source of our problems.

The Bottom Line: You liberal "kindred spirits" shouldn't expect to corner the market on agreement in thoughts and ideas here. The rest of us have the right to fashion coalitions and to participate in "kindred spirits" when the mood - and the subject - dictates.

PoliticsNation commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 14:42 PM

In my Rodney King voice "cant we all just get along". You know our blog friend sebekm puts on a show.. My friend would often say "watch out they are slowly putting on the clown suit"..He had the nose and hair on Wednesday; by Friday night he had the entire clown suit on.

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 15:19 PM

Ever the Peace maker, Sebe. For the most part you are correct Sebe. The mud gets slung from both sides. The Primary Difference in this particular matter is TOY's EQUATING LIBERALS AS THE MURDERERS OF THOSE NEWTOWN BABIES AND 6 ADULTs. I called him on it and he stuck to his hateful message and even repeated it. He goes on to other blogs and blankets All Liberals with the ails of society.

Sebe, you have never read or seen me equate Conservatives with mass murder. I do not engage in such reckless actions. But Tot does, yet you cut him some slack. And yes, you Sebe can post anything you like. I ain't a saying you can't. But from a political perspective I will meet fire with fire when it comes to Conservatives. I have a problem with TOT that I do not have with Funk or MLC. Fine gentlemen who articulate the conservative view very well. Tot does not do this. Tot engages in Group Think on any and most matters and does so in a Neanderthal way. Tot's particular mindset in my view is the same as the Night Riders of the old south and the KKK. He's a dangerous buffoon that demands degradation if not outright ostracism.

Politics is one thing, but if I called you a murderer Sebe what would you do?

PoliticsNation commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 15:27 PM

I concur Jimmy...

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 15:36 PM

Hi PN: I do not know where Murr is but wherever she is, she's complaining about something. As her name implies, she was a rare bird. A mean and nasty one.

I can often find some common ground with Sebe. We have our disagreements but seem to be able to co-exist. He is an excellent wordsmith as are you. I would hate to see the two of yall in a dust up, but we all got our likes and dislikes. Sebe, unlike Tot, is not a savage. Tot is a high school drop out with a very limited and simplistic perspective which is why Conservative hate talk radio appeals to his lower instincts. He can understand that low level verbosity but is challenged to mount a more sophisticated retort like some on the Right such as Funk and MLC (whom I hope will forgive me for mentioning their names).

Simple minded individuals such as TOT possess the mindset of one brought up within the Hitler Youth.

He DEMANDS to be challenged every time he sticks his head out from under his rock.

As I just said on another post Mr. Padrick, you keep a clean lawn, but your mind is in the gutter. rrrbbitt!!!

sebekm commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 15:57 PM

"You know our blog friend sebekm puts on a show.."

That IS the half of it.

"My friend would often say "watch out they are slowly putting on the clown suit"..He had the nose and hair on Wednesday; by Friday night he had the entire clown suit on."

If someone takes two days to finish hair, make-up, and costume, they aren't a very good clown.

"Sebe, you have never read or seen me equate Conservatives with mass murder."

and

"Politics is one thing, but if I called you a murderer Sebe what would you do?"

Jimmy: You are among the exceptions. I have seen and heard so-called "liberals" equate conservatives with mass murder - as they did and do with their "(fill in the name) lied and people died" mantra over the years. Also, those who believe that abortion is the mass murder of unborn children (as I do) see the "liberal" advocacy of abortion as just that: subscribing to mass murder. Just because I choose not to continuously shove it in somebody's face doesn't mean I don't hold a particular opinion or belief.

But then - these are the roots of the differences that make up our Melting Pot, are they not? But when one side believes that others who do not agree with them are "simple minded" "fools" - that lowers the dialogue into the realm of disrespect and name-calling. When I use the term "liberal," I am referring to the general liberal philosophy. I recognize that not everyone who describes themselves as "liberal" subscribes to each and every "liberal" "principle" espoused by every "liberal" constituency. But that doesn't mean that those liberals who espouse opinions or attitudes I consider destructive get a pass from me. But I do try to disagree without being disagreeable, and attack the idea rather than attacking the person.

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 16:00 PM

I am gonna let you in on something Mr. Padrick (aka Tot). I am gonna play a very easy game with you here on these pages soon. Try to keep up when it starts!

timeontarget commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 16:06 PM

Sgt. Waters said "never argue with a fool///////////because the bystanders won't be able to tell who is who".

sebekm commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 16:06 PM

"I can often find some common ground with Sebe."

...and for the record, there are conservative individuals and ideas which I believe are destructive and generally the "wrong answer" to what ails our society, too. My problem - which I admit - is that I have a lot of difficulty separating "liberal" from "Democrat." And it IS the Democrats who have 99.9% (if not more) of the liberal constituency in this country.

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 16:18 PM

So, Mr. Padrick, are you now going to have the personal integrity to own up to your previously hidden identity?

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 17:09 PM

Tell you what Mr. Padrick...I Jimmy Darsey will play the fool if that what it takes. YOu can be the Smart one. HOw's that?

If you want an apology Jimmy, you have it. ;) <3

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 18:07 PM

Thanks up2...but it ain't you who is the guilty one.

timeontarget commented on Sunday, Aug 25, 2013 at 06:25 AM

I TOT have no intention of apologizing for comments posted on this blog.

JimmyMack commented on Sunday, Aug 25, 2013 at 10:17 AM

I know that Mr. Padrick. You take yourself way to seriously to apologize or admit wrongness in any form or fashion. You are secure in your delusional self confidence. One demonstrating such a profound character flaw rarely admits he or she is in the wrong about anything.

Such unwarranted self pride is a sin against the Holy Spirit. You are incapable of humility.

timeontarget commented on Sunday, Aug 25, 2013 at 16:17 PM

And just who are you to judge???????????????

JimmyMack commented on Sunday, Aug 25, 2013 at 17:11 PM

I am making a calculated assessment of a deranged neighbor that someone showed how to make, albeit limited, use of a computer. And does so in an unaware self revealing reckless manner.

You are not special Mr. Padrick. Nope. You are just one whom I assess as being a bitter and intellectually limited dolt.

JimmyMack commented on Sunday, Aug 25, 2013 at 17:39 PM

A dolt filled with unjustified self-important pride devoid of spiritual humility.
