Blacks need to do their part towards racial divide

Racism is not dead in America and it never will be, because we are all human beings that aren’t perfect. I still don’t understand how when I state “Racism is insignificant in America today” that someone can interpret that as I don’t or black conservatives don’t think it exists at all which isn’t true and not words that have come from my mouth or typed into a blog by me; however what I do mean is that I or we accept it as part of human nature and take the necessary steps and precautions as to minimize or prevent any negative confrontations or events in my personal life, therefore insignificant. I’m black grew up a Democrat and JFK is my favorite Democrat of all times because I was indoctrinated into him initially by parental and sibling influences, and after some extensive follow up of my own on his policies and philosophy’s and I continue to do so today. In my personal experience in life after 53 years, I have encountered more blacks that are racist than whites. Blacks aren’t incarcerated more just because of the systems in place, it is greater because of the simple fact that we as a whole commit the most crime, therefore more convictions, commit more rape, therefore more convictions and it goes on and on as 3% of the US population commits 50% of the crimes. Another part of the degradation is the progressive policies that Democrats promote by replacing irresponsible fathers with unlimited government assistances. We need to promote personal responsibility, family, hard work and free enterprise in our communities. Democrats act like racism is rampant as in the 50’s and 60’s and it’s not. They fail to take a look in the mirror at themselves and what they can do personally to contribute to improving relations in America. It's the white man, the white system or Uncle Tom's fault.

Wow Funk, one heck of a post. The sad fact is that by you stating this, you will be called an Uncle Tom by many, if I had stated it I would be a bigot by many. And what is even sadder is that the vast majority of these "many" would never listen to the facts of what you are saying.

JimmyMack commented on Sunday, Jul 21, 2013 at 11:10 AM

Well stated Funk. I think I finally understand you more than I did before.

I still believe tho, that Black Males are treated differently than White Males via the justice system. I believe that profiling happens more than anyone in law enforcement will ever admit.

I believe that a black male driving slowly thru and a predominantly white neighborhood at night has a more than double the chance of being pulled over than a white male.

I am not sure how we end this, but we must discuss it.

JimmyMack commented on Sunday, Jul 21, 2013 at 11:18 AM

YO Mike. What are you doing here at this time of the day??? You are supposed to be in Church, man!!!

sebekm commented on Sunday, Jul 21, 2013 at 11:45 AM

Good post, Funky.

"I have encountered more blacks that are racist than whites."

That was the result of a national poll released about two weeks ago:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2...

(But here's a curious one: the results of a national poll released two days ago reveal that Preaident Obama and George Zimmerman - according to the sampling - share the same "disapproval" rating (48%):

MLC, thanks and you're right; however the truth must be told.

JM, thanks for understanding that's how we solve problems. I agree we are still treated differently; therefore we should respond differently.

Here's my real world example, in 1999 I was pulled over speeding on Airport road by a white police officer, I let my frustration of already running late and personal issues get the best of me and lashed out "what about the 2 cars in front of me speeding" and I continued my disrespect for law enforcement and was arrested.

The following year I was on 196 heading east making a left turn on General Screven and ran the light and got pulled over again by a white police officer. He asked" did you realize you ran the stop light" and said yes and that at the speed I was going I didn't think I could stop in time, so I continued thru the intersection instead of trying to stop. He gave me a warning instead. So you can clearly see how my personal responsibility and behavior played a significant part in two separate scenarios.

I, want to have lunch with you because I know we can discuss these issues in a civil manner and you would find that we share a lot in common.

On duty today.

MikeLongCounty commented on Sunday, Jul 21, 2013 at 12:46 PM

Also let me know when JimmyMack goes to lunch with you Funk, I've been inviting him for weeks now but he never wants to be seen with me. Maybe you won't mind.

Funkentelecky commented on Sunday, Jul 21, 2013 at 22:15 PM

MLC, I don't know if he will because he has graciously turned me down before.

I would be honored to have lunch with you too!

MikeLongCounty commented on Monday, Jul 22, 2013 at 00:29 AM

I think JimmyMack may actually be a figment of all of our imaginations, he doesn't really exists. He's like Santa Claus, the Easter Buddy, and the Tooth Fairy.

Sebe,

"I have encountered more blacks that are racist than whites."

And do you really really believe that? Forget what the Poll says. My question is do you believe that?

yes, and i feel we can thank sharpton and Jessie for a lot of it.

"I have encountered more blacks that are racist than whites".

Yea, Yea, Yea,- Some people love playing Blacks against Blacks, especially when they have such hatred for President Obama. I don’t have a problem with conservatives or liberals. I must say that most black conservatives need to think for themselves and not resort to being a victim of the black community so that they can fit in or make others feel that they can relate too by putting down their own race; just to please the majority. I hope that your political views are true to who you really are and that it’s not a result of self-hate.

sebekm commented on Monday, Jul 22, 2013 at 11:25 AM

Sporty: I didn't say that, Funky did. I was quoting HIM in my post. My personal experience does not support that statement, but:

*I am not a black man; and

*My primary experience with black persons has been in the United States Army and in my own neighborhood. In the Army, racism is not tolerated and if/when it exists, it tends to be buried. I made it clear by my statements and example that I would not tolerate racism from people who worked for me in my Army career. I saw no instances that I could put my finger on and definitively say "that was racism at work" while I was in the Army. In my neighborhood, we all get along and as far as I know there haven't been any incidents of racism in my neighborhood either. (But I tend to be a hermit, so I might not know what is really going on.)

Having said all that - national polls ARE national polls. These polls are completed by blacks and whites and in the case of the one I cited, that's what the poll respondents said. I linked to the poll because it supported exactly what a black man - Funkentelecky - had said.

sebekm commented on Monday, Jul 22, 2013 at 11:27 AM

PolNat: Read my post above. I was not playing ANYBODY - but the polls say what they say. You'd have to ask the respondents to the poll as to why THEY responded the way they did.

PoliticsNation commented on Monday, Jul 22, 2013 at 11:38 AM

Sebekm-that comment wasn't directed towards you. don't feel you want to cause dissension.. it's evident that you don't like the POTUS..but that's okay...

SportsFan31313 commented on Monday, Jul 22, 2013 at 11:40 AM

GACPL,

I did not ask you anything.

sebekm commented on Monday, Jul 22, 2013 at 11:41 AM

I misunderstood. And as I said before, it's not a matter of my not "liking" POTUS. I IN FACT DO "LIKE" HIM. It's his politics and the fact that he's a Democrat that I'm generally opposed to. Believe it or not, there IS a difference.

SportsFan31313 commented on Monday, Jul 22, 2013 at 11:56 AM

Sebem,

Well I don't believe it at all. I too was in the Army ( as a Commissioned Officer)and yes it is not tolerated in the Army, but again, it is there too. I have had service personnel disciplined for statements being said that constitutes racial slurs, and conduct unbecoming. My experience was not limited to the United States Military, but in every day life as a child growing up. Having to correct people referring to me as "BOY" to include attending high school being called the N word. There is no way that I will ever believe that more blacks are more racist than whites and neither have I ever encountered blacks that are more racist than whites. Are there racist blacks? Yes there are, reason being is because they hold the anger of how blacks were treated by whites generations ago, which have trickled down and have affected them personally. I'm glad that you and I can agree to disagree on these types of dialogues. Some people on here I have no tolerance for.

sebekm commented on Monday, Jul 22, 2013 at 12:07 PM

I understand what you are saying and I respect you and your opinion. I was just referencing a national poll where the respondents said what they said, and it backed up the comment of another black man who posts here. I appreciate the fact that everybody's life experiences are different, and that your or my experiences may be quite different than somebody else's.

I think one thing that might be at play is how people define "racist" or "racism." There are obvious kinds of racism - such as the incidents you decribe in your above post - and then there are other kinds of racism that are not as overt. For example - is it "racist" to vote for somebody because they have the same skin color as you do? (I'm not saying YOU as in Sporty - just "you" as in every person). Or is it a racist act to drive past a traffic accident and not offer assistance when you can see that the victims do NOT share the same skin color as you? How about: Is it racist to offer up your seat to an elderly person on public transportation when they have the same skin color as you - but to NOT do so when the elderly person is of another skin color?

These are the kinds of questions that might be in people's minds when they respond to national surveys. It's not just a matter of the name-calling or holding anger about historical mistreatment, but how people of the races deal with other people in society today.

I'm not justifying the poll - I'm just saying that it says what it says. I understand that one might not agree with the results. I didn't agree with the results of the national "poll" that was conducted last November, but we have the results and now have to live with them.

Can I get another Amen!

King Shamir Shabazz, doesn’t represent all black people; however this is an example of racial hatred thrust upon today’s white patriots that had nothing to do with slavery. The system seems to me like it’s reversed. How many Klu Klux Klan do you see on film today calling for our deaths and including the N word while doing so?

Yes Funk

I agree with on some points of the matter. There are some blacks out there that are advocating hate against whites. But you too have your David Dukes out there as well that are doing the same exact thing advocating hatred agsinst all people of color that are non whites.

Juror says Zimmerman 'got away with murder'

http://usat.ly/1c6Lixk

sebekm commented on Thursday, Jul 25, 2013 at 20:04 PM

Here are my comments from the other string:

I saw that. And in that case, SHE SHOULD HAVE STUCK TO HER GUNS AND HUNG THE JURY!! Juries have ignored instructions (and evidence) before. That's why the prosecution and defense become skilled in "jury shopping."

But also note that she said that the evidence wasn't there under the law. This will be no different under the federal statute. I know you don't want to hear it, but for a federal hate crime, the prosecution has to PROVE that Zimmerman killed Martin BECAUSE HE WAS BLACK. Not in self-defense. Not for any other reason.

They couldn't prove this in the Florida case because the evidence was just not there. Bad evidence doesn't get better with age, and they just can't magic up some where there is none.

There will be a lot of lip-service (i.e., "discussion) paid to the societal significance of this case, but just about every legal expert I've read - and the ACLU as well - admits further criminal prosecution of Zimmerman at any level is futile. The ACLU (who has lawyers on their staff) says to forget it based upon former jeopardy. I don't know about that - but in any case the best chance those in the public who want Zimmerman to stand trial again is in a civil wrongful death trial.

Funkentelecky commented on Thursday, Jul 25, 2013 at 22:14 PM

SF3, as mere humans picked to judge a case by innocent until proven guilty and the preponderance of the evidence don't support guilt even though our personal beliefs of the case are different like this juror. Would you have done the right thing by law?

SportsFan31313 commented on Friday, Jul 26, 2013 at 00:31 AM

What part of Manslaughter you do not understand? Again, not enough evidence to support a verdict if guilty for the count of 2nd Degree murder. But it was enough evidence to support a guilty verdict of Manslaughter.

sebekm commented on Friday, Jul 26, 2013 at 11:49 AM

The jury said NO.

PN, I take this as a personal assault on my individualism as an American. If you examine my whole statement I ensured that it was a known fact on a personal basis. Black Conservatives and Libertarians actually think for themselves, for if we didn’t we would be in the 93% of black voters that don’t. If you think about it something is very wrong and troubling about that percentage of people giving a blank check to any political party. I’m an American who actually believes in judging a person by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. Additionally by serving 21 years in the U.S Army as a Drill Sergeant, BNCOC SGL, AIT Instructor and a Platoon Sergeant, actually living in several different countries and several states in the US, I’ve gained a valuable leadership skill that President Obama lacks. Follow and enforce the rules and laws on the books and you will have done your job to treating all Americans equally and history will take care of the rest. I don’t hate BHO. Just his policies that are setting the country back further with crushing debt and people influenced to depend on the government instead of themselves. So yes my political views are true to whom I am and I lead by example too. Too bad for us all that the President doesn’t because I surely do.
