I don't care who you are.
This blog stands head and shoulders above anything I've seen on this site before now.
Tot: it is straight out of Ayn Rand... you know ATLAS SHRUGGED, THE FOUNTAIN HEAD. She fancied herself the definition of Objectivism. Though she came from Eastern Europe, she was very anti-communist and all about what in essense is now referred to in some literary circles as 18th century individualism as it relates to politics. Not to demean her writing ability, because she could string words together very well. Its just that if after reading her and discussing her influence and thinking through it all she in actuality was the first Rush Limbaugh. Except Rush is a conservative buffoon and Ayn Rand was an intellectual conservative. The IS a difference between the two.
By the way she outright rejected faith and religion; she believed in rational and ethical egoism.
You should read her books to learn more about why YOU might be a conservative today. She would be a better sourse for you rather than right wing hate talk radio that's got hold of your ear right now. Try reading and thinking. Give it a shot... Tot.
There ain't no lynchings going on as I know of from dem good ole days. My black brothers can eat and drink at the same restaurant as I do. Women have brokent thru the glass ceiling. We are on the verge of curing Cancer and a Black man is the leader of the free world.
And most of all: The Beave has left the building. Too bad there wasn't a bi-racial Beave cause Buckwheat didn't cut it.
I believe my brudda said it best in Sunday's courier in response to our mutual conservative friend MLC: The days of angry white boy politics are dead. The worm has turned. Thank God
And I would only add: don't thank Ayn Rand. It's a New World Charlie Brown. Pretty soon it is gonna be all us against the Tea Partiers. The last remaining vestage of White boy and girl anger and resentment.
Oh Happy Day!
CNN is airing a special called "The N Word," hosted by Don Lemon, on Monday night.
Lemon will be debating the use of the word, in light of the recent allegations of racism against Paula Deen and the George Zimmerman trial. TV Newser reported that the special will air at 7 p.m. in lieu of "Outfront," while Erin Burnett is on vacation.
Lemon has previously said that he believes journalists should say the full word, instead of the phrase "n-word," when reporting a story. "I think someone should say, that person called someone 'nigger,' instead of saying 'the n-word,' because I think it sanitizes it," he explained last year, adding that he hated the use of the word in music and when it's used for misogynistic purposes.
He reiterated those views while speaking to Burnett last week. "That is the word," Lemon said. "I don't go around calling people that word and I don't like it when I hear it, but I think it needs to be said."
Great Post Ironside's, are you a Raymond Burr fan? Just wondering because of your moniker.
JimmyMack, I see you are very knowledgeable in regards to Ayn Rand, cool!
Chief, you captured the paragraph that describes our political divide today and why our country is slowly deteriorating.
I'm going to watch MeTV on MyLc :D
Iroonside, thank you sincerely for this blog.
I was away this past weekend and did not see this until yesterday afternoon.
I've just finished reading it again this morning.
My hat is off to you Ironside.
Please remain with us.
Golly gee shucks, fellas. I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and take a wild guess that Mr. Ironside is saying that them DEmocrats be the Evil ones and them Republicans be the Good ones.
Democrats: Satan...Republicans: God.
Did I cipher that one correctly??
Don't hold me to this cause I am just a dumb redneck white boy from the South. My hat is also off to you Mr. Ironside for abroadnin my intelgence. Things be reel simple fur me nows that I know where God and da debil Be. I will sleeps reel good tanight.
Oh I almosted furgot Mr. Ironsides...I be sixties Four and I does injoy immencly lerning from my elders.
Now JimmyMack you know Ironside isn't saying Democrats are evil, because we all know from reading the mainstream headlines, watching much TV (of which I watch very little anymore), and listening to many who make comments on blogs and in letters to the editor, that Republicans are the evil ones...you know angry white males, wait they're no longer males, make that angry white boys, they're all Baptist in most cases, heterosexuals for sure and they want to starve kids, make women have 3.5 children, and push their evil ways on all of the "open-minded" and compassionate Democrats who are all of the people they are not. And I too try to show my respect to my elders, and I even maintain keeping them on life-support when their organs begin to fail, despite the wishes of many hereunto supporters of Obama-care and the late Dr. Death.
Hi Mike. Did you know your sarcasm door was open? However, I don't believe Mr. Ironsides is wishing his\her words to be interpreted as Republicans "are the Evil ones..." I think he\she has made it pretty plain where the evil doers are. On another note, the rest of your stuff sounds pretty accurate to me anyway. Even if stated in a sarcastic mode. Course, I could change my mind 20 years from now. You never know. Enlightenment and Revelation are instruments of the Almighty. Some of us are blessed to be the recepient of such gifts in our lifetime on earth.(do you get my drift here, friend?) But more than likely I will be dead 20 years from now and hopefully doing a meet and greet on the otherside.
I'll be looking for ya on the right side of them golden streets. I know you won't be on the left. That is of course, you experience some sorta life alterin Enlightenment, Epiphany, or one good old Revelation while down here.
Take care of yourself my friend.
You might want to think about discussin that angry white boy angst with my brudda. I ain't him.
It appears these blogs can be a lot of fun, if you have the right attitude, and a few layers of skin. Fortunately I took several years off from getting into the discussion publicly, so my skin has had time to regenerate, from past years of, well, differences of opinions.
You've always been one tough cookie Mike. A fair one too, I might add. I just wished I was your age and also looked like Elvis. (the young Elvis, not the fat bloated Elvis.)
Glad you are here on these pages Mike. It is my hope that your rational well spoken conservatism will be of some benefit to Tot. Tot's pretty sure about what he knows but sometimes he is like the rest of us and just needs a little help in expressin what he wants to say.
As you probably can tell (and this is where I usually get in trouble: names) Sebe is the concensus MVB (Most Valuable Blogger) Funk is a uniquely eloquent Black expressionist of the Conservative thought, HMJC is a very fair person and articulate, up2...well I wish she was my sister, most level one here to my mind. We used to have an entity called Murrelett. She was a wordy Kalleefornia Girl living near some hispanics in Long County and she used the word Boom a lot. I have not seen Tandshickey or WhatHotLips lately or IKY. Sheran is here and she picks on me a lot and forces me to curl up in fetal position under my bed with her verbal daggers. LHolmes is one of the wise guys who puts it out there. PoliticsNation I am just getttin to know but methinks I am a kindred spirit wid him. There are many more and I always leave someone out, but you know who you are, so that kinda makes up for it.
Did I mention Tot...?
