No Shoveling Allowed When You Face The Nation

That’s what host Bob Schieffer told President Obama’s Senior Advisor Dan Pfeiffer yesterday morning on “FaceThe Nation” when Pfeiffer continued the administration’s line of male bovine scatology in response to questions about its three ongoing scandals. In an article posted online by Noel Sheppard at, the exchange between the two went like this:

“BOB SCHIEFFER, HOST: You know, I don’t want to compare this in any way to Watergate. I do not think this is Watergate by any stretch. But you weren't born then I would guess, but I have to tell you that is exactly the approach that the Nixon administration took. They said, “These are all second-rate things. We don't have time for this. We have to devote our time to the people's business.” You’re taking exactly the same line they did.

After Pfeiffer continued with evasive talking points, Schieffer again scolded:

SCHIEFFER: But Mr. Pfeiffer, and I don't mean to be argumentative here, but the President is in charge of the executive branch of the government. It’s my, I'll just make this as an assertion: when the executive branch does things right, there doesn't seem to be any hesitancy of the White House to take credit for that. When Osama bin Laden was killed, the President didn't waste any time getting out there and telling people about it.

But with all of these things, when these things happen, you seem to send out officials many times who don't even seem to know what has happened. And I use as an example of that Susan Rice who had no connection whatsoever to the events that took place in Benghazi, and yet she was sent out, appeared on this broadcast, and other Sunday broadcasts, five days after it happens, and I'm not here to get in an argument with you about who changed which word in the talking points and all that. The bottom line is what she told the American people that day bore no resemblance to what had happened on the ground in an incident where four Americans were killed.

Pfeiffer once again stuck with the Administration line leading Schieffer to further push back:

SCHIEFFER: But what I'm saying to you is that was just PR. That was just a PR plan to send out somebody who didn't know anything about what had happened. Why did you do that? Why didn't the Secretary of State come and tell us what they knew and if he knew nothing say, “We don't know yet?” Why didn't the White House Chief of Staff come out? I mean I would, and I mean this as no disrespect to you, why are you here today? Why isn't the White House Chief of Staff here to tell us what happened?”

So – a very prominent, very senior member-in-good-standing of the “mainstream” media says the Obama administration sounds just like All The President’s (as in Nixon’s) Men. Interesting. From the above, it is obvious that Bob Schieffer knows B.S. when he hears it. Sooner or later, the American people will figure it out, too.

"it is obvious that Bob Schieffer knows B.S. when he hears it. Sooner of later, the American people will figure it out, too."

You sir and many of the rest of us on this site know it when we hear it also.

Then again there are some who participate here who are so full of it that they are blind to any reasoning.

They then become an ugly distraction.

Thank you sebekm for your as usual fair and balanced commentary.

Again, whether it is validated or not, his voting base is too oblivious to fully understand the impact.

Wow, America recovery halt!!!! Have to distract and draw focus, because the other issues to hot for a political career to handle. First, yes some issues, of violation of the people's rights. Yes, we should investigate and fully address all involved, no matter who. But, in the mean time we are a multi task entity, and we have issues in education, infrastructures, family structure, economics, local non growth to lessen burdens on the residents, and possible base restructuring, high cancer rates on east end cities, an under economic potential I-95 exit 76, searching for new BOE leadership, new auto tag rules confusing many, complicated DMV procedure, but easy conceal weapon process with an ID you can use to vote with, do not know about citizenship criteria, gun ammo prices over the true cost, my portfolio loves that, keep up the fear and scare, and numerous youth on a path to inability than are, and we seem to love the talk and hope the president goes to jail or is impeached, mad because Marines are holding the umbrella over the president and guest,.... WOW, we are in trouble. This is just me rambling, like to interject some thoughts. We are in the survival of every person for themselves, and anarchy over the horizon. Future looking rough, but I believe we can move FORWARD WITH SOME CCOMPRISES. OOOOPPPS, so not now. :)
Thank you all for some good blogging.

Well done, Thinker. You are correct amundo! However, there are some here who are so blind and deaf that they will not get it. Many are locked in goose step lynch mob mode and by Gawwwd they WANT THE TRUTH, dammit!!!

@ Jimmymack thanks, just so much to fix, I especially need the young folks to contribute to SSI like I did in hopes it will be around :) wishful thanking, as the days pass. My biggest worry now, is the infrastructure mess coming to a dropping bridge nearby us all. The question of the day is which bridge nearby is on the list to collapse maybe while I am on it or my love ones, or a friend, sad, so many jobs that could be created.

Let's take a moment & remember a young female lawyer who made her mark back in the summer of '74;

I remember the Watergate hearings on TV, high school was over, university was in the fall my last summer of freedom & I was of legal drinking age we met for coffee every mid-morning at a local pub and watched a day-full of Watergate hearings & rehashed the details all night over slowly sipped beers.

Time to read history & remember what FDR did to pull this country up by its bootstraps (many parallels) but we really must remember the parting words of Ike too...(a merchant navy & a US-owned steel industry would be really nice) Google how they're fixing the San Fran Bay Bridge if you want to get your dander up and find out where all the jobs went to.

She made her "mark," all right. As to the merchant navy and US-owned steel industry, my dad belonged to the former and I belonged to the latter. They're gone and we're much worse as a country for it. But I still believe in this country and the resiliency of our people and our leaders (those that lead from the FRONT, that is). I believe we're going to figure it all out and straighten out the mess. If we don't do in the next 3 years, we'll do it thereafter - as soon as we are willing to meet the problems head-on.

Our history has been that WE THE PEOPLE find a way to solve our problems and make things work. In short, I still believe in US.
