Yes - he needs to LEAD. And leaders lead from the FRONT. They don't find out about misdeeds in their own administration by reading about them in the newspapers - especially when they have ALREADY been the subject of Inspector General investigations. That doesn't pass the stink check.
CYA is the rule of the day now - as well as damage control. The tools of the trade are obfuscation, changing the subject, minimizing, and claiming that its "old news" or a GOP witch hunt.
Bob Schieffer gave 'em what for yesterday on his Sunday morning talk show. I'll post a link to the exchange on my "Baghdad Bob" blog since it fits best there.
...and this is supposedly WHY the President didn't know any details of the IRS probe: NOBODY TOLD HIM.
My response? See my recent blog re: shoveling male bovine scatology.
I honestly don't know if the country will survive another three years of status quo.
For that very reason I am strongly considering not voting for my very good friend Jack Kingston in his bid for the Senate seat being abandoned by Saxby Chambliss.
I have just about come to the conclusion that any elected official does the best they might ever do during the first term of elected office.
If they seek reelection in order to achieve such they have to compromise their principals and that does not serve the best interests of we the people.
I also think that if they attempt to use their current office to step up to a higher office they probably find that they must bargain with opponents and we the people pay for their bargaining.
I don't think our founding fathers ever intended that any elected officials should become career holders of public office.
The primary elections either need to be open to any declared party affiliation or accept no party affiliation. Then it could be a simple general election of all qualifiers and let the top two vote getters battle it out in a runoff election.
If we could somehow eliminate the party affiliation and all members of the legislative as well as the executive branch were then simply independent they could vote and act independent.
Essentially that is how it was in the beginning a little over two centuries ago.
That is how we became the most prosperous nation in the world in a very short time.
The term "public servant" could'nt be further from the truth. Today's politics are self serving with little regard to the "common man" I am just amazed that people still seem to think that the current placeholder of a president is one of the greatest ever. NO one single president has driven a wedge between it's people as deep as the current administration. He has managed to re-kindle the racial divide, use immigration to soley get re-elected while neglecting legal citizens, placed gay rights above the economy, the list goes on and on and on...What is it going to take for this country to wake up? When are we going to say enough!! When are we finally going to say we are mad as hell and we are not going to take this anymore!!!! Wake up America! Be Americans! Believe and invest in America! not BS special interest groups or left or right wing foundations. Take our country back and demand that our leaders lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way!!
HJMC, excellent post. Unfortunately we have too many low-information voters who vote with their emotions instead of knowing what the issues are that the nation faces. It never occurs to them that we cannot continue down the path we are on if we are to survive. No nation can sustain itself with the number of people we have on some type of government assistance. Those who are working can't pay enough in taxes to support those who aren't working. The other problem is we have no leadership in either party or the administration.
