Take Me To Post Comment Form

I wonder how a "State of the Union Address" would open right about now? I am sure we all have our "one liners" but to be truthful at the risk of being contrite, I am concerned. The recent administartion was not strong to begin with. It was focusing on special intrest group tasks, gun control vs. gun reform, and starting to receive backlash as the actual effects of obamacare begin to show what it really is. My concern is with the recent administration mis-steps it has completed the process of making it a 100% ineffective forum for any type of bilateral change that is good for all Americans. He is going to spend the rest of his tenure defending himself instead of focusing on making the best of the time he has left. In a nutshell we have another 3 years of status quo. The Republican party is to blame here as well, instead of spending three years of stating the obvious, they could be foucusing on America and the next four years. To keep bashing obama is too easy, he makes it that way. Ironically obama has a chance to right the ship but he does not have the intestinal fortatude to do so. Someone ought to remind him of the advice I have always given my Son, " It's not how you fall down, It's how you get back up" A "leader" would have stood before his country and stated we have somethings to get right but we will.... And do his best to move on. At this point that is what I would like for him to do, all the other bs is going to figure itself out. It is time to focus on our country and restore the status of being the "Greatest country in the World" It's time to stand up on your own two feet Mr. President, I challange you, your leadership tea, and voting base to do so...

Yes - he needs to LEAD. And leaders lead from the FRONT. They don't find out about misdeeds in their own administration by reading about them in the newspapers - especially when they have ALREADY been the subject of Inspector General investigations. That doesn't pass the stink check.

CYA is the rule of the day now - as well as damage control. The tools of the trade are obfuscation, changing the subject, minimizing, and claiming that its "old news" or a GOP witch hunt.

Bob Schieffer gave 'em what for yesterday on his Sunday morning talk show. I'll post a link to the exchange on my "Baghdad Bob" blog since it fits best there.

...and this is supposedly WHY the President didn't know any details of the IRS probe: NOBODY TOLD HIM.

I honestly don't know if the country will survive another three years of status quo.

For that very reason I am strongly considering not voting for my very good friend Jack Kingston in his bid for the Senate seat being abandoned by Saxby Chambliss.

I have just about come to the conclusion that any elected official does the best they might ever do during the first term of elected office.

If they seek reelection in order to achieve such they have to compromise their principals and that does not serve the best interests of we the people.

I also think that if they attempt to use their current office to step up to a higher office they probably find that they must bargain with opponents and we the people pay for their bargaining.

I don't think our founding fathers ever intended that any elected officials should become career holders of public office.

The primary elections either need to be open to any declared party affiliation or accept no party affiliation. Then it could be a simple general election of all qualifiers and let the top two vote getters battle it out in a runoff election.

If we could somehow eliminate the party affiliation and all members of the legislative as well as the executive branch were then simply independent they could vote and act independent.

Essentially that is how it was in the beginning a little over two centuries ago.

That is how we became the most prosperous nation in the world in a very short time.

The term "public servant" could'nt be further from the truth. Today's politics are self serving with little regard to the "common man" I am just amazed that people still seem to think that the current placeholder of a president is one of the greatest ever. NO one single president has driven a wedge between it's people as deep as the current administration. He has managed to re-kindle the racial divide, use immigration to soley get re-elected while neglecting legal citizens, placed gay rights above the economy, the list goes on and on and on...What is it going to take for this country to wake up? When are we going to say enough!! When are we finally going to say we are mad as hell and we are not going to take this anymore!!!! Wake up America! Be Americans! Believe and invest in America! not BS special interest groups or left or right wing foundations. Take our country back and demand that our leaders lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way!!

HJMC, excellent post. Unfortunately we have too many low-information voters who vote with their emotions instead of knowing what the issues are that the nation faces. It never occurs to them that we cannot continue down the path we are on if we are to survive. No nation can sustain itself with the number of people we have on some type of government assistance. Those who are working can't pay enough in taxes to support those who aren't working. The other problem is we have no leadership in either party or the administration.
