Jm I corrected the spelling of tolerance thank you kindly for correcting me.
However you knew what I meant.
Marriage is pillar of society that is supported by God, and the basis of a family is voluntary action. Two men or two women can’t produce a child through voluntary action, only a man and women. Therefore what about congress drafting legislation for civil unions which can allow the same privileges as marriage without destroying this pillar of society.
The main reason the left is pushing this is because same sex couples don’t receive their partners Social Security benefits upon death. We can take care of them without destroying a time honored tradition.
Blogs are like planting a garden. You till the soil, plant your seeds, add water and then sit back until you see the sprouts coming up, and then comes the weeds! It's clean out the weeds as fast as you can, or watch it take over garden bearing no fruit.
I try to foster tolerance through humor. So in keeping with that idea, I present to you: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05...
Now this is humor, up2.
Regarding the issue of the profiles of all who participate on this site.
I observed this site for a while before I started participating.
It appeared to me that more often than not contributors did not reveal their identity, So I choose to do likewise.
I'd gladly join another site where only those who reveal their true identity were allowed to participate.
I have heard through the grapevine that a group of long time residents is putting something like that together.
This Courier site suffers when any of us of the left or the right is allowed to bully those with whom they disagree.
JM has done that on many occasions not just to TOT but others as well.
JM got his pants in a wad back in December when we were all discussing the Sandyhook School incident.
I said at the time that I felt like we were all seeing the results of liberal influence on our society.
It was liberalism which resulted in the end of the daily devotional at the beginning of the school day.
It was liberalism which resulted in not allowing physical discipline in schools anymore.
It was liberalism which resulted in taking the ten commandants off of public buildings.
It was liberalism which brought about the acceptance of much deviant and unnatural behavior.
Liberalism now is not just embracing such unholy notions but glorifying it.
From my perspective it is the result of liberal influence on our elected officials that has brought this nation to the brink of moral as well as financial bankruptcy.
Now I say to all of you if you have a different perspective offer it here on this site.
Don't attack the person with whom you disagree.
Explain why you disagree.
I certainly don't think it was due to any conservative influence that any of those things which I've listed above ever took place.
OK, I'll wade in this quagmire.
1. Prayer/devotional in school. Totally against. It is the parent's responsiblity to provide moral/religious instruction to their children. Violence and other mayhem occur in the schools not because there is no prayer but because parents have failed to give their children the soild foundation they need to weather the ills of the world. If you wait until they are in school (even pre-school) then their foundation has already been formed and there isn't anything the school can do but try and caulk the cracks.
2. I am old school on this issue. I got spankings and lived to tell the tell. I do draw the line at corporal punishment in the schools. That decision isn't the teachers to make. I qualify this by saying there is a huge difference between a swat on the butt and a beating. There is no place in a civilized society for that kind of parenting.
3. I agree with Jimmy here. Faith is a personal issue and it should remain that way. We should not support one faith over another (don't get me started on Sunday alcohol sales).
4. I again agree with Jimmy. I don't have to like/approve of who you are with/married to but I need to respect your right to make that choice for yourself.
I disagee with Jimmy regarding war, racism, the poor etc. While there were liberal who championed these causes, there were also conservatives who supported/support them also.
5. I agree with Jimmy here too. Being pro-life (not anti abortion), I respect all stages of life. But I agree with Jimmy and will even take it a step further and say if you wish to exit this world, you should have every right to do so.
I appreciate the response from each and everyone of you and I respect your opinions regardless of what you profess.
More importantly I respect your opinions when they are rendered without the personal attacks against those with differing views.
Sheran, being somewhat of a farmer I especially appreciate your analogy and I agree that all gardens will become overtaken with weeds if they are not monitored.
Mike LC, I don't think I've ever delivered any punches below the belt up until this time.
You and Mr Watkins would be wise to pay more attention to this site, lest it become one huge patch of weeds.
Now for all of the females I hope you have a happy Mothers Day.
All males or whatever else there is I hope you enjoy some portion of this day with your Mother if you are indeed fortunate enough to still have one.
Again thanks to everyone.
If there was to be "A cookie for playing nice" I think that it was my reference to the three finger bag and legalization.
I learned that we can seriously disagree as with TOT, Up2 and JM in the exchange above on this particular blog.
By the way I think you have not been fair to Sheran. Show her respect and she I'm sure will respond in kind.
Some of us who participate as well as many who occasionally once used this site to stay in touch with their old home town get zero satisfaction or plesure from the personal attacks such as The Murelett was condemned for.
JM's slime and disgusting comments toward TOT have been just as harmful to the Courier site as hers directed mostly at Sebekm.
At any rate I understand that some old timers are planning to launch some sort of new blog site in the coming months for discussion of local politics and issues. I think they are coming back home after retirement and they are looking to create an electronic equivalent to a newspaper.
I was told to expect it by mid summer or fall.
I found out about it this past November at a gathering of old friends over the holidays.
Also this medium does not encourage correct spelling and grammar.
Although Up2 and TOT are opposites usually but they I don't think I recall them having had any foul mouthed exchanges.
Also Up2's profile is not very revealing and I don't find that to be a problem.
I was sometimes amused by scribbling on men's room walls but I never actually wrote anything. If I had I certainly would not have signed it.
I can't decide if there are two TOTs or if he just likes to refer to himself in the third person. (LOL) If there is a site launched where spelling and grammer is a prerequise, then I will surly not be invited. I'm never concerned with profiles TOT, the character of your posts will tell me everything I need to know about you. Have a good evening TOT. <3
up2, There is only one TOT however that is not the actual name of the writer so it is my (the writer) opinion that it is meaningless for a contributor with opposing views to attack the relatives of TOT.
That is much like Don Quixote and jousting at windmills.
Indeed the character of one's posts does tell all which needs to be known about that one.
I'm off to do my choirs now but I'll be back tomorrow morning.
I think the majority of us miss spell sometimes and computer communication actually discourages proper grammar.
