I have been asked by one the leaders of the local Boy Scouts to offer up a great big THANK YOU for all the support the community has given them over the past few years. You, the public, have been more then genorous in supporting Scout sales of their famous Boston Butts and Smoked Turkeys. Also by purchasing the Boy Scout gift cards you AUTOMATICALLY contribut 5% of each purchase to helping the Scouts.

The versatility of the Boy Scout-Kroger cards has been extended to not just the Kroger but to: Staples, Longhorn's, Outback, Chili's, Maccaroni Grille, Bath and Body Works, Bass Pro Shops, Olive Garden, Panera Bread, Red Lobster, Starbucks, and Home Depot. Essentially it is 'painless' giving to an outstanding group of young men by using the gift cards at these places of business.

Though a Boston Butt sale is most likely in the offing you can get Boy Scout-Kroger gift cards now and anytime. With High School and other graduations soon to be taking place you can purchase gift cards in $20,$50, and $100 denominations as graduation presents for your special graduate. With the many varied enterprises noted above, the cards will make a great gift for anyone, male or female.

It is really a no-brainer. You can use the cards for everyday purchases and by so doing 5% of your purchase goes to the Scouts. You win and the Scouts win.

You can get your gift cards at the office of Glenn Carter, 109 W. Ogelthorpe Hwy. You can make telephone contact by calling 368-2290 if you have any questions regarding the cards or need directions to Dr. Carter's Office.

Scouting is a builder of future Community Leaders inhoned with positive character traits and generosity towards others.

The Boy Scouts appreciate your support and request your continued support by purchasing their gift cards.

Thank you.

As a former member of Troop 500 I agree with Jimmy (everyone mark that down) that Scouting does build the leaders of tomorrow. With past leaders like Homer Smith, Marvin Patterson, Donald Peller, Dick Goff, and Eddie Standard, to just name a few; and now with current leaders like Danny Peller continuing the mission, the positive aspects of the Boy Scout Law and Oath instill positive values and character in young men. I thank Jimmy for his letter and encourage everyone to do their part to support the local Scouting programs.

Down through the years, the Boy Scout organizatoin has done a tremendous amount of good for this country. They deserve to be supported to the max. Also - IMHO - they should stay the course in their philosophy, standards, and personnel requirements.

I would like to add that you can use the Kroger Scout gift cards at ANY Kroger in the United States and that they NEVER expire.

Additional benefits is that Kroger shoppers earn gasoline credits tht can be used at Kroger Stores that have gas pumps like in Richmond Hill and Savannah. As you accumulate points using your card you can save 50 cents to a dollar or MORE per gallon of gas!!! Kroger cards can even be used at Shell gas stations.

Finally, I neglected earlier to extend a great big thank you to the community in the support given to the Boy Scout annual golf tournament.

I will post forthcoming events on these pages.

The Coming Republican Nightmare

No. The Nightmare is not the Tea Partiers hi-jacking the Republican Party and embracing aspects of National Socialism. Though, that truly would be nightmarish. It just ain't likely to happen. For the Poll Watchers (not me)

I have never put much stock in polls. Except for the one poll that counts votes on election day. I have a problem with the other polls and view poll taking as an immensely flawed system. For example: who are the people being polled, who is polling them, how are ...
