As a former member of Troop 500 I agree with Jimmy (everyone mark that down) that Scouting does build the leaders of tomorrow. With past leaders like Homer Smith, Marvin Patterson, Donald Peller, Dick Goff, and Eddie Standard, to just name a few; and now with current leaders like Danny Peller continuing the mission, the positive aspects of the Boy Scout Law and Oath instill positive values and character in young men. I thank Jimmy for his letter and encourage everyone to do their part to support the local Scouting programs.
i was in scouts in Savannah in trp 47 growing up. i was a life guard at camp Strachan, and at camp blue Heron for its first 2 years. the experiences can not be compared to any other that I have had.
Down through the years, the Boy Scout organizatoin has done a tremendous amount of good for this country. They deserve to be supported to the max. Also - IMHO - they should stay the course in their philosophy, standards, and personnel requirements.
I would like to add that you can use the Kroger Scout gift cards at ANY Kroger in the United States and that they NEVER expire.
Additional benefits is that Kroger shoppers earn gasoline credits tht can be used at Kroger Stores that have gas pumps like in Richmond Hill and Savannah. As you accumulate points using your card you can save 50 cents to a dollar or MORE per gallon of gas!!! Kroger cards can even be used at Shell gas stations.
Finally, I neglected earlier to extend a great big thank you to the community in the support given to the Boy Scout annual golf tournament.
I will post forthcoming events on these pages.
