SF3,

Your blog should be titled “GOP Rep put’s foot in his mouth and apologizes” Mr. Young is not the whole Republican Party and I don’t condone his individual behavior; however he did realize he was wrong and apologized. The Republican leadership responded appropriately too.

Where is the Democrat leadership response to this?

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/...

And what about Joe Biden and Toure re-writing and interpreting Mitt Romney’s response to a baseless racist response by Biden with Toure supporting it:

http://americaswatchtower.com/2012/08...

My point SF3 that right is right and wrong is wrong regardless of Party; however there are crickets sounding instead of Democrat leadership holding people accountable.

sebekm commented on Friday, Mar 29, 2013 at 21:50 PM

Joe Biden has to have his foot surgically removed from HIS mouth at least monthly.

This is a non-story.

timeontarget commented on Saturday, Mar 30, 2013 at 07:48 AM

As Dr Carson said, we have simply become far to concerned with political correctness.

This is indeed a non story.

SportsFan31313 commented on Saturday, Mar 30, 2013 at 11:15 AM

How True Everyone. A Lot Of This Political Dogma are Non Stories. Funk You Are Correct But I Title It That Way Because The GOP Are Always Putting Feet In Their Mouth. Some Democrats too. The views of the American people are changing and in my opinion more to the left, and the GOP seems to not get it. Slowly you are seeing Republicans change their thoughts and views that are aligning with the left . Thus is interesting. Don't be surprise that the Democrats may retake the House.

PoliticsNation commented on Saturday, Mar 30, 2013 at 11:56 AM

What's in your heart will come out eventually. However, I've had to pull my foot out of my mouth and play nice often. Take for instance the title of my blog. People assumed the title was racist. I'm excited to see an all black outfield. I should have chosen a different title but I didn't think it would offend anyone....

sebekm commented on Saturday, Mar 30, 2013 at 16:47 PM

I don't think anyone is "offended" - they just don't see the historical significance of it. See my recent post on your blog for details.

P.S. You can change your blog title if you want via the edit feature. I don't see it as "foot in mouth" - and of course you can title your blog whatever you want.

SportsFan31313 commented on Saturday, Mar 30, 2013 at 18:29 PM

Well anytime you make statements like that, you do put your foot into your mouth. Actually, he did'[nt even think that what he said was racist or wrong. He continued to say that the racsit word "WETBACKS" whom he referred to as Hispanics should have been left in the 20th century. In my opinion, it should not have been in the 20th century either. The 19th century, the 18th century etc. It should NEVER be used at anytime. So yes, he placed his foot in his mouth, as other Republicans and some Democrats have done. I understand what you meant because of one GOP member using that word. But that is not the premise of my point. Republicans continue to say things that are repugnant on so many levels. This is just another example. That is why I titled my blog in that way.

JimmyMack commented on Saturday, Mar 30, 2013 at 18:50 PM

right on to the bone bubba joe, sf3. Keep 'em coming. The consevatives have NO BIG TENT. They are exclusionary rather than inclusionary. They just may die on the vine.

Funkentelecky commented on Saturday, Mar 30, 2013 at 20:58 PM

What about these statements made against Herman Cain and the Tea Party? The Democrats do it more, however if you’re not inclusive with your sources you would think otherwise. Are these comments repugnant?

And check out these facts of the Democrat Race Lie:

http://www.black-and-right.com/the-de...

I believe that Democrats and Republicans should be held accountable for the mistakes or intolerance equally.

SF3, you are absolutely right on this statement and I respect your opinion to do so.
However; you are the man in sports and especially the local agenda!
Are the statements against Herman Cain and the Tea Party repugnant

sebekm commented on Tuesday, Apr 02, 2013 at 20:29 PM

Good links, Funky - especially the one on The Race Lie. The Dems are saying anything they can to hold their consituencies, but we must always watch what they DO. However, the stated party policies and platform are also meaningful and are worth examination and consideration.

Here's a pretty good narrative which outlines the differences between the two political parties in this country. It was written in 2011 by Ms. Bonnie M. Parsley, and first published in January 2012 by the Temecula Valley Republican Women, Federated. I'm sure that the Dems won't agree with how they are described in this publication, not only because it was published by a Republican organization but also because to do so would actually require a long, hard look in the mirror and a lot of soul-searching on their part. But from top to bottom, this comparison is totally consistent with my life's experiences with the Democratic and the Republican parties, and I offer it here for review and discussion. Enjoy!

Hello Funkentelecky,

I'm back. I had to take care of some priorities.

SportsFan31313 commented on Friday, Apr 05, 2013 at 14:28 PM

Funk,

Ive read this post: "http://www.black-and-right.com/the-democrat-race-lie/"

What you missed is that back then, African Americans were Republicans.

It was later when African Americans switched from the Republican party, and became Democrats.

SportsFan31313 commented on Friday, Apr 05, 2013 at 14:32 PM

Funk,

Yes my area is sports. Be it local, state, or on the national level, that is my arena.I do on occasion like to join in on your discussions regarding politics in America today.

SF3,

Were the statements against Herman Cain and the Tea Party Repugnant?

It doesn’t matter that most or half of blacks were Republican or not, what matters is this statement from the Democrats in 2010:
“Democrats are unwavering in our support of equal opportunity for all Americans. That’s why we’ve worked to pass every one of our nation’s Civil Rights laws… On every civil rights issue, Democrats have led the fight.”

This is the main point of The Democrat Race Lie!

Blacks became Democrats after the New Deal, War on Poverty, etc, etc, etc.
Personally I prefer being called a Black American instead!

SportsFan31313 commented on Friday, Apr 05, 2013 at 20:40 PM

I"d rather just be an anerican. Black, White is just a color. If you are born into the United States, you are an anerican. But I don't want to get into this topic because my opinion will start something that I want no part of.

Funkentelecky commented on Friday, Apr 05, 2013 at 21:22 PM

I'd rather just be an American too.

Were the statements against Herman Cain and the Tea Party repugnant?

SportsFan31313 commented on Saturday, Apr 06, 2013 at 14:48 PM

I call it ignorance.

sebekm commented on Saturday, Apr 06, 2013 at 16:12 PM

"I"d rather just be an anerican. Black, White is just a color."

Those questions/blanks on forms that asked for race used to get me fired up. There also were empty boxes where you were supposed to enter your "race." I always printed "HUMAN." Then they changed the forms so instead you were supposed to check a box for caucasion, hispanic, black, asian, whatever. Last time I checked the "other" block.

I guess these distinctions are on the forms in compliance with some law, but it seems to me that the more we focus on race, the more trouble we stir up.

SportsFan31313 commented on Tuesday, Apr 09, 2013 at 12:46 PM

Sebe,

The United States is the only country that does this. Its a shame too. Will the OLD America with the embedded thoughts of Jim Crowe still remain?

You go any where outside the United States, you are not identified by your color, but by your nationality.

sebekm commented on Tuesday, Apr 09, 2013 at 12:59 PM

Hi Sporty:

That may be true, but other countries "get at" the issue in other ways. Supposedly, France uses "geographic or class criteria to address issues of social inequalities."

See: http://www.brookings.edu/research/art...

According to this Brookings Institution analysis, France has "developed an extensive anti-racist policy repertoire since the early 1970s." And yet we frequently see news articles where muslims and other minority groups in France complain of racist government policies and related "persecution."

I guess Reagan was right. Only when the Klingons or the Romulans invade the Earth will all humans unite and see our vast, signficant similarites rather than only our superficial differences.
