I'll tell you something I saw a couple weeks ago in my neighborhood. A mule ( http://www.atvsource.com/images/artic... ) racing up and down the street loaded with kids ten and younger, pulling a red wagon with a child in it. Several times it had to stop and I thought the child was going to crash into the back of that thing or the child would be slung into the ditch. And yes, the father was driving.
Irresponsible parenting is a hard thing to control. I do not know the law regarding four wheelers but surely there must be some regulations somewhere.??!! I do know there are laws regarding destruction of property.
Me, neither. But as to info/rules/laws, I found these:
*ATV info for Georgia:
http://www.atvsafety.gov/state/georgi...
*GA Code - the "Off-Road Vehicle Act of 1975" (most current I could find):
http://www.atvsafety.gov/legislation/...
*As to this area, I found a reference to an evaluation or study being conducted by a Mr. Terry Doyle in 2010 on "the issue of ATV’s and alternate vehicles on roadways" (see item 4f at the link for the "05-20-10 Mid-month meeting minutes":
http://www.libertycountyga.com/index....
as well as a Courier article from 2010:

From the above, it appears that local authorities have not addressed this issue (with laws/ordinances) in recent years - if at all.
J Don Martin REFUSED to address the issue because he thought it would hinder his re-election, even though the state statues are clear. The matter has been brought before the county commissioners on several occasion by Mr Doyle. Again, no enforcement. I do not know what Sheriff Sykes stance is on this issue.
sebekm, I read everything you posted a link to. Thank you for your time... I guess we will all be forced to attend more children's funeral other than see law enforcement doing their job to protect the innocent...
You're welcome. Most everything seems old (outdated?), but it's all I could find.
My son rides one of those up in Alaska for "recreation," but he does it out in the middle of nowhere where (as I recently pointed out to him) if he drives it off a cliff, there will be nobody around to help or save him. I guess the only ones he annoys are the caribou and the brown bears....
Here in our neck of Liberty County, we see 3 and 4 kids on one 4 wheeler. There is one man who rides one around that is so loud and annoying.
The problem I have with them riding on my road, tearing it up and kicking up a monster cloud of dust is, they don't even live on this road.
Everyone elected into office needs to take notes! Long county cleaned house... We have all new county commissioners, do your job for all or be replaced.
