Because, on the whole, they are not the most 'customer friendly' people in the world.
You ever been to the property office to get a PERMIT to build a simple fence in your back yard? Their collective arrogance and overall lack of respect to the taxpayer is nauseating.
I agree it would be nice to log in by your account number instead of a random number each time you pay your bill. If you misplace your bill-you cant pay on-line. However, the city is behind the times when it comes to technology..they invest money in other areas. If I am not mistaken they set up on line payments 3-4 years ago..
I agree, it is a bit inconvenient. Everyone's account number is unique to them. I would like to know who thought that one through.
Georgeann7,
You can still pay your bill online as long as your bank provides the service. I live in Midway which sends out a monthly paper bill too. Just log into bill pay and manually input the address, zip code and any other required information. Once you are set you can send an electronic payment which will be converted to a check and sent to the appropriate agency. Ensure that you pay at a minimum of 5 business days for a timely delivery. For Midway when the due date is Saturday or Sunday, they give us to Monday to pay so you will have to check with Hinesville WD on that issue.
Water bill?!?! Do you mean that thing the City claims was delivered to the post office for delivery to my home and everyone else in my neighbourhood prior to the first day of the month, BUT none of us have received it yet?!?! I find it rather odd that an entire subdivision's waterbills can go missing and no one seems concerned at cityhall or the post office...perhaps it's another sign of the sequestration, claim the bills were sent, save the money, plus catch people for late payments?!?!?!
I misplaced my water bill a few months ago, since I already know it's due by the 10th of each month I sent out a payment online and guestamated the bill and received credit for the next one by a small overpayment.
