After reading about the Hinesville officer arrested I was not surprized at all and commented on the article to that effect. I recieved replies to my comments as if they were shocked by my claims. I read the second one today at lunch which suggested that I record the information about Deputies speeding on a regular basis. And hard to believe but on my way home today ran into yet another. (you should also read the comments on the article)
Well lets just put you theory to the test Mr Smith... It did not take long from my reading your post to actually catch one speeding. Perhaps Sheriff Sykes ought to do a ride along with me and see what the public has thrown in their face by Deputies under his badge.
At 1630 today at the corner of Rt 84 and Dunleavie Rd I was surprised as a vehicle flew up beside me at a very high rate of speed. Passing me on the inside lane I rolled my window down and called to the Deputy to slow down which he did, for about 30 seconds, stared back at me then laughed and took off at a high rate of speed. I could not see his number at the rate he took off though he should be easy to ID he was driving a Chevy SUV with K9 Plastered on the windows.
Now nothing will come of this and I have to be extreemly careful for putting myself out there but I thought Deputies and Police Officers were held to a higher standard not above the law but enforcing it. Perhaps Sheriff Sykes should start cleaning up his own house before he takes on the community.
I know when I worked with the Sheriffs down in FL they were very conciencious of the images their Deputies left on their communities.
