Good advice, Sheran. It is not too late to get on the Boy Scouts list for roasted turkeys and boston butts that will be available November the 19th. They are delicious and only cost $25 completely cooked and ready to serve. All you have to do is call: 368:2290 speak to the receptionist and put your name down. The turkeys and butts will be distributed at Dr. Carters office on Ogelthorpe Hwy. across from DFCS between 12 and 2 on the 19th.
Happy Holidays.
I like the idea of instead of a "gift" for someone on a limited imcome, you might think to pay a lightbill or something, like that.
Excellent thoughts and suggestions. Too often the holidays are not "good times" for all (as reflected by the tragedies we see reported in the news during the holiday season). Your goodwill and thoughtfulness could help prevent bad things from happening - you never know.
In these tough economic times - and with no real improvement in sight - Dickens said it best:
God bless us, every one.
up2, I really love you idea for a "gift"! It beats something they don't need or will never use. I've got some of that in my closet. Men that can do oil changes and tune ups. I know a woman that does homemade quilts, if anyone is interested? Thank you Jimmy Mack, for sharing I will keep that in mind.
I was giving this recipe today for Turkey!
Here is a turkey recipe that also includes the use of popcorn as a stuffing – imagine that.
When I found this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people like me, who just are not sure how to tell when poultry is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out. Give this a try.
10-15 lb. turkey
2 cup melted butter
2 cup stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is Good.)
2 cup uncooked popcorn (ORVILLE REDENBACHER’S LOW FAT…..of course)
Salt/pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush turkey well with melted butter salt, and pepper. Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn. Place in baking pan with the neck end toward the back of the oven.
Listen for the popping sounds.
When the turkey’s ass blows the oven door open and the turkey flies across the room, it’s done.
And, you thought I couldn’t cook. LOL
