I guess those snarky blogs, boobirds in the stands and Sound Off callers were right after all Jeff Whitten,BI Alum,MASKED BLOGGER,and Gacpl.
It never was personal. We love our B.I. Tigers and they deserve better.
If all of Coach Walsh's friends loved the program as much as they love him they would feel the same way.
That Board Member is (and I am calling her out) is Carol Guyette. You want change? Vote Carol Guyette out of office and replace them all (who does not listen and adhere to our request for change. Now is the time to stand up and against these people who continue to defy our request for change in the Bradwell Institute Football Program. I have spoken about this for more than 3 years. Hopefully this is the final result that will make the powers that be move, and make Walsh step down. Or simply just fire him as Head Football Coach, and Athletic Director at Bradwell Institute. He could teach health or another academic subject at Bradwell Institute if he chooses to stay there. Bottom line is that Walsh has to go. Walsh still beiong there shows everyone that failure is accepted at Bradwell Institute.
If Walsh friends really love him, then as a friend, (True Friend) they would advise Walsh to step down before it gets worse. For goodness sakes, have some common deciency here to admit that the game have long surpassed him, and he simply does not have what it takes as a Head Football Coach at Bradwell Institute. Walsh true friends need to advise him to move aside, (step down) and allow a new Football Coach come in, and rebuild this program. Bring in a new Head Football Coach - Athletic Director, and charge him with the responsibility to bring back the respect, pride, and winning tradition to Bradwell Institute that Bradwell Institute once had, and lost when Coach Jim Walsh Jr. arrived here, and given the reigns.
Just before anyone feel that SportsFan31313 has a personal agenda against Walsh, I want everyone to know that this is absolutely nothing personal. This could have been anyone in Walsh's positon, and I would have been saying the exact same thing thing.
Well I really don't see Bradwell Institute winning any games at this point. I gave them a 2-8 chance this season, but they lost those games as well. The schedule is only tougher for them.
Right on SportsFan31313! I've read several of your blogs and comments. Spot on! In the 20 years that I have lived in this area Bradwell football has become a joke to put it mildly. Knowing from personal experience that Bradwell loses top talent because kids will not play for Walsh. Walsh only being concerned with making the postseason and then throwing in the towel in the first playoff contest. Time for Walsh to be put out to pasture!
In my opinion, Bradwell Institute use to be a School Of Excellence, Pride, Winning Tradition, and self respect. That was years ago. Something has to be done, and done soon in replacing Walsh.
Among the Savannah Head football Coaches, Bradwell Institute Football was referred to as the Goliath of Football when playing all of the Savannah Schools in Football. Bradwell Institute use to run the tables there. The ONLY competetion Bradwell Institute would getout of Savannah was Benedictine. Now Bardwell Institute program is a absolute joke under Walsh. A laughing stock among the State. It's now a sad state of affairs.
Bardwell Institute Football has NEVER been 0-5 in the 60 plus years of Bradwell Institute. So Coach Walsh gets a congratulations as being the first Coach to reach that amazing effort. Lets give Walsh a round of applause. He wont be satisfied until Bradwell Institute goes 0-10 this season. Then he can make the record books as the first Head Coach, and Athletic Director to ever reach 0-10 at Bradwell Institute. No Coach has ever axchieve that feat as Head Football Coach at Bradwell Institute.
This was stated aout two years ago:
"“BRADWELL INSTITUTE COULDN’T BEAT ANY TEAM OUTSIDE OF IT OWN REGION. “NOW YOU CAN TELL THAT TO THE PEOPLE OF HINESVILLE".
Now I will add this too. Bradwell Institute can't beat any team inside it's Region either......
The sad part is they still havent got to the meat of their schedule yet...
The Glynn Academy record is misleading, the losses are to 3-2 Brunswick who plays in the toughest region in the state, some say the nation. Region 1-AAAAAA,wich includes Camden County,Lowndes,Coffee,Colquitt,Valdosta and Tift County.
The other two losses are to the top two teams in the region, Richmond Hill and Ware County. They have also beaten Bradwell 6 of the last 7 years with the one loss coming in 2009. so it dont look good for B.I.
A little somthing to think about.. This is Coach Walsh's 19th year at B.I.. In that span if you include this year, he has had a losing season 8 times.
In the previous 19 yrs before his arrival with 3 different head coaches i might add, B.I. had 1 losing season in 1982 when they went 4-6.
And yes, there was only one high school but there was NO FEEDER SYSTEM. So please let that go. It aint gonna happen....
It's more than that. Did you know that students at Bradwell and Liberty are not allowed to have more than one weight training class a school year. So these athletes lose a whole semester because they can't have a weight training class. It is a board rule. How are these kids supposed to compete with some of the schools they play against? Also most schools have a football, basketball, etc.. class. If a kid is on track to graduate why would they not be able to take a weight training class all 8 semesters like 90% of the states athletes. Not making excuse for Bradwell, but this is a county problem. The board is not behind their sports programs.
I did not realize that. That goes to show the lack of interest in Walsh as a coach. If the Booster Club got wind of this, they would have done more about this with the BOE. Parents have to now get more involved with their kids. The BOE may think that they are doing some good by creating this rule, ( Grades Before Play) and I agree. But there should have been more dialogue on this before instituting that rule. These BOE members probably does not have any kids playing football for Bradwell Institute, and their thought process may be in a different mind set. Besides, these Board members may have the salary to pay for their kids tuition in any major college or University out of their own pockets. But what about the parents who can't afford to pay college tuition for their kids? They have to rely on grant, aid, and scholarships as a mechanism to get their beloved kids into college for a secondary education. Having continuous losing seasons, a terrible program, and now another block (such as usage of the weight room) plays a significant part in an athlete's development to elevate him or herself for competitiveness to earn scholarship. This need to be addressed.
Parents have to get more involved with their kids, and not use school as a Day Care Center to watch over them. Parents have the power to act, to make these Politicians, or should I say Board Of Education Members to set guide lines, and programs for things such as this. The weight-room training could have very well be placed in the school's curriculum as an elective. Just as art, music, typing, Journalism etc. Parents just has to do more. I don't have a child that attends Bradwell Institute, but I still care. Bradwell Institute is my Alma Mater, and the Power is in the parents. Parents, you can get the Board Of Education to do whatever you want them to do when it comes to your child. It is totally up to you. Being silent, complacent, and waiting on others to speak on your behalf will not get you the results that you need. Get out there, and speak up for your child. Get other concern parents involved to voice your concerns, and opinions as well. If the BOE Members fail to adhere to your request or demands, then you now have the choice, and opportunity at the Voting Polls to vote their AS&$# out of office, and put someone else in who can, and will meet your needs that can do the job better. At the end of the day, you can stand around, and complain about your child not getting this, or your child not getting that. But if you don't take a stand for your child, no one else will. Now speak up, and speak out.
You are now hitting some points I began making 2 years ago. Back then I was perceived by other bloggers as being on the opposite side of your agenda. I never was on the opposite side. However, I have always known what the root of the problem is. And while I do agree that BI’s football program is in need of a change in leadership, it will do nothing to address the underlying problem: apathy. I’ve used that word in these blogs many times. And it starts, just as you are saying, in the community (I use that term lightly, btw). BI has a failing program because of an apathetic coach. It has been allowed to continue because of apathetic principals, who in turn have been enabled to be that way because of an apathetic board. There is a pattern here. So who’s left to hold anyone accountable? Why are all of the aforementioned so aloof when it comes to athletics (or academics) in this county? Why are the bars set so low? Why has less than mediocre become accepted? How do they get away with it? Because we, as a whole, allow it. The program at Bradwell has become a reflection of the community it represents.
