Senate GOP kills Veterans Job Corps bill....... WASHINGTON, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- The U.S. Senate Wednesday failed to break a Republican filibuster, effectively killing a bill supporters said would provide job training for military veterans.

The Senate voted 58-40 (all 40 republican) in favor of proceeding to debate on the Veterans Job Corps bill, but the bill needed 60 votes to advance.

Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., argued in opposition to the bill, saying it would violate a congressional deal reached in 2011 on spending limits. The bill's sponsor, Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., said its cost -- $1 billion for five years -- was offset by revenues, The New York Times reported.

"It's unbelievable that even after more than a decade of war, many Republicans still will not acknowledge that the treatment of our veterans is a cost of war," Murray said in a statement following the vote.

OMG, that is reason enough to vote for Mitt. BTW, did you read the article where black pastors are telling people to stay home and not to vote. Seems theh are angry at BHO because he is pro gay marriage and anti Romney because he is mormon and they don't like the history of the mormon church regarding people of color.

Supposedly if those who are so unenthusiastic about the election actually DO stay home, Romney wins. There is an enthusiasm gap this time on the Dem side as opposed to 2008, but I'm not sure it's enough to make the difference.

I sense a shift in the national mood over the past 30 days toward Obama that is starting to be reflected in the polls. The first debate can't come too soon for Romney. I think he needs a really good showing (as in a clear-cut debate win) to maintain a reasonable chance in the election.

I expect another shift once that undecided 15% is exposed to old fashioned debate.

If President Obama wanted to raise taxes on the top 2% as he proclaims he could have done so in his first year as President and made it permanent too with Democrat Super Majorities.

That's true. During the first two years - had he focused on the economy and took the whip to Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi (as in LED HIS OWN PARTY LEADERSHIP) - this would be a very different election, IMHO. How many votes do you REALLY think he gets because of ObamaCare? The same people who would vote for him anyway are those who supposedly will benefit most.

On the other hand - what do you think his margin of victory would be with 6% unemployment, a balanced budget, the federal deficit on the decline, and economic growth at 4%? (All of these - IMHO - are reasonable expectations for a focused administration that controlled the WH and both houses of Congress). The answer?
