Come one, Come all and step right up folks to see one of the strangest conflagrations thought up by humans and mother nature. Yes indeedy. The Grand Old Party went ahead and scheduled their convention in Florida during hurricane season and what do you know...here comes Hurricane Issac. Yessir, while the conservatives are hoopin' and hollerin' for their chosen billionaire "conservative" nominee Romney in Tampa where it will be raining cats and dogs, just down the road a piece people will be scrambling for their lives and possessions in the wake of Hurricane Issac.

The wise men of the GOP picked Hurricane Alley, probably at the behest of Romney and his cohorts to cavort and frolic during the midst of a potential natural disaster.

And some here want these people to run our country?

There selection process regarding their nomination marshmellow roast is akin to Bush the Elder, or was it Bob Dole(?) picking Jack Kemp former losing super bowl quarterback from the Buffalo Bills to bring bounce to the ticket to be his running mate.

I pray for those in the Hurricane Impact area, now looking like Nawlins or Mobile. But instead of a smooth "come on and get to know me" message from Romney the Rich, his dog and pony show will more than likely be interupted by TV Special Reports regarding damage and destruction in one or more or the states the Gop hope to carry come November.

To show some good ole fashioned compassionate conservatism, Romney and the right wing evangelicals may call for a mandatory moment of prayer or silence regarding the storms victims before restarting their partying.

Yeah, yeah...I know....this is all Obama's fault. Its amazin to me that the man tho is taking to doing all the things the Boy King W. did NOT do when hurricane Katrina came ashore. He is organizing, transporting, planning, and getting ready for the big blow while the other big blow participants in Tampa are boozing it up and swappin room keys.

Oh yeah, Also while in rainy Tampa Paul Ryan will be explaining between TV Breaking News about Issac how he plans to extinquish social security through his voucher system and put all the retirees in that state at ease. Right after or before the GOP presents a prominent Latino female giving a speech about GOP policies regarding women. All the while by not even grimacing from the constraints of her mandatory chastity belt.

Here folks are the distinguished thinkers being presented to you in Tampa.

Just remember what W. said about his incompetent staff (think of FEMA's "Brownie" as W. referred to him during Katrina and its aftermath when W. said: "I trust his juddge-mint." 1300 dead and thousands homeless because of "compassionate conservatism."

It is impossible to make this stuff up.

Awwwwwww Jimmy - I'm sure that it'll all work out. But I note that the Dems scheduled THEIR convention in North Carolina (next week) "during hurricane season" also. The people I know who live not far from the Outer Banks are just as a'feared every Him-i-cane Season as those I know who live in Nawlins. As you know, it's ALL a crap shoot anyway.

I bought real hurricane shutters for my front windows after the last real scare we had around here (back in the late 90s I think), and we haven't seen a real threat since. So go figure.

I actually think things have worked out BETTER for the Republicans this way. ISAAC has dominated the headlines over the past week when they would have otherwise been concentrated on Romney-Ryan bashing. Now they get to run their convention with minimal demonstrations and limited attacks from the opposition. If Obama has to tour a disaster area, the country can evaluate HIS "compassion" and his leadership/management skills.

Things could work out better for BOTH sides. Only time will tell. But it will be interesting to see whether God (and the opposition) are kind to the Dems NEXT week.....

I'm watching it. LOL...... On a more somber note, I pray for the citizens of Louisanna, and other States they may be in the pathe of this Storm come through this unscathe.

Iknowyou commented on Wednesday, Aug 29, 2012 at 07:55 AM

I do not like clowns or the circus so I refuse to watch either convention.

sebekm commented on Wednesday, Aug 29, 2012 at 10:29 AM

I'm watched last night (3 speakers) - just to get a flavor of how they're doing it. I found it to be pretty good entertainment TV. The speeches by Artur Davis, Ann Romney and Chris Christie were well-delivered, and probably accomplished their objectives.

*The only way to describe Ann Romney's speech is: HOME RUN.

*Artur Davis gave a terrific "12 Step" speech on the rigors of being a reformed Democrat. I'm certain this will bring him the condemnation of the media and the Dems, but his IN YOUR FACE commentary had the ring of truth for me.

*Christie's speech was odd - for a keynote - but I found very little to disagree with in his comments. I assume that the RNC honchos (perhaps even Romney himself) had a preview and could suggest modifications. If so, there must have been a reason they thought it was okay to not mention Romney's name until half-way through the speech. (I can't think of any.)

All in all - as to the point of the basic blog - I think ISAAC did the Republicans a favor. Ann Romney was scheduled to give her speech on Monday night - and all the "major networks" had stated they were NOT going to provide prime time coverage of it. With Monday's cancellation and reschedule of Mrs. Romney to Tuesday, it put her smack in the middle of the most widespread media coverage possible, and afforded her the opportunity to reach the maximum viewing audience.

The "mainstream media" - as expected - continued their stereotyping and bias by failing to provide adequate coverage of the minority speakers, with MSNBC and NBC being the worst offenders. MSNBC DIDN'T EVEN COVER the minority speakers on-air:

http://dailycaller.com/2012/08/28/msn...

(CNN cut into Artur Davis' speech while it was in-progress, then tried to paint Davis as a "traitor" afterwards)

...while NBC chose to post only the most "notable" (translation: WHITE) speakers online:

http://nbcpolitics.nbcnews.com/_news/...

And in a related story, Hillary has apparently decided that the best thing to do during the Democratic National Convention next week is to get as far away from it as possible. She's scheduled a presumably "diplomatic tour" during which she will visit the South Pacific, Asia, and Russia:

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/globe-trotti...

(Wild Bill will be there - I'll watch his speech to see if he follows Christie's lead and speaks more about himself than he does about Obama. It's very possible.)

You are right, sweetness, but that clock started waaaaaaay before BHO got control of it after Bill Clinton left W. a SURPLUS while the Boy King led us into two unecessary and costly wars seeking non-existing WMD's. W had 8 years to dig this financial hole we are all now in. It is going to take at least that long and more to get us out of it. A return to Conservative Republicanism will hasten our demise.

Another note on these conservative Republicans desire to control a woman's uterus. Unless the platform lanquage is is removed soon, it will state NO ABORTIONS will be allowed by women.

So for all the vulnerable females out their who fall into the evil glutches of say an AIDS infected rapist, or father-step father rapist, guess what: The Republicans say you gots to keep da baby. Aids and genetic flaws and all. You have no say on it. Nada. None.

JimmyMack commented on Thursday, Aug 30, 2012 at 16:42 PM

Well, so far on script re: the Republican fiasco except for one thing: I missed the Dirty Harry card.

Oh well: South Carolina by 7 tonite.

sebekm commented on Thursday, Aug 30, 2012 at 18:21 PM

Dirty Harry was supposed to be a sneak attack.

As for the "Republicans desire to control a woman's uterus" - banning abortions would be more like controlling the PRODUCT of her uterus after a woman does what she wants with it, wouldn't it? I mean after all - other than in cases of rape, incest, "health of the mother" - abortion "on demand" is an approval of all "uses" of a uterus - even irresponsible ones, isn't it?

I'm not a Republican, but I do consider myself "pro-life." And while I have no desire to "control" any woman's uterus, I don't approve of abortion as part of a national solution to birth control, which is how the proponents of Roe v. Wade generally view it. I do believe that abortion should be permitted in limited cases (i.e., rape, incest, "health of the mother"), and the procedure should be accomplished as soon as practical in those cases. But IMHO to allow it willy-nilly just serves to encourage irresponsible/unsafe sex.

How did that just work out for LA and Miss.? Another broken promise from this in-over-his-head president. Yeah, give me a proven businessman rather than this career politician. OB had his chance and has failed miserably.

JimmyMack commented on Friday, Aug 31, 2012 at 16:33 PM

Well, Howdy Do right4life. Clint Eastwood made my day last nite. Nothing specific from anybody just one bold statement about Romeney creating: 12 MILLION jobs. Dat's a lot of creation.
The truth be known deregulation and lowering the tax on the rich, along with two unecessary wars got us where we are now. Cept now the Conservatives want to ban ALL ABORTION. Sooo's if you b a female raped by her aids infected Uncle you gots to keep the baby.

Just a wonderin' tho r4l...once the aids born baby is born and maybe with pharmaceuticals makes it to his teens, but ends up committing mulitple murders, does he meet your criteria for right to life? Or does he get the needle?

JimmyMack commented on Friday, Aug 31, 2012 at 16:39 PM

Another thing r4l...I was just a wonderin if GOD is LOVE why is LOVE not available to everybody?

Consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.

right4life commented on Friday, Aug 31, 2012 at 18:15 PM

It is to the right JM but I do agree and support life as the first basic freedom (wo)man is endowed with.Hardly ever though, is there only 1 clear cut answer, so are there exceptions? Yes...most emphatically. To the God question, that LOVE is there for everyone - regardless. Hate is simply the absense of LOVE.

sebekm commented on Friday, Aug 31, 2012 at 18:40 PM

Anyway: got to go fire up the grill. College Gameday is on; Ga-Buffalo, Auburn-Clemson, Tide-Wolverines,and my favorite of all Savannah State a 67.5 underdog to Oklahoma State.

Good morning, Brother Jimmy that statement above sounds like it came directly from MSNBC Heehaw. The National debt was about 5.5T when Clinton left office after 8 years and 10.6T when GWB left office after 8 years and is now 16T in BHO’s first and hopefully last term. The annual deficit was 260B+ when Clinton left office and was 160B- when the Democrats took over Congress in November 2006 and was 460B- in when GWB left office. BHO came in 2009 and passed an OMNIBUS 200B and STIMULUS 700B catapulting the annual deficit to the Trillion Mark. GWB got Bipartisan Congressional Approval for the Wars and Democrats also believed there were WMD’s to include Bill and Hillary Clinton. The financial hole of 2008 started in the late 70’s when Jimmy Carter signed into law the Housing Reinvestment Community Act to help minorities in purchasing a home. Bill Clinton put pressure on banks in the late 90’s to lower their standards for housing loans. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mack led the way incurring toxic loans and selling them to banks and that’s how the virus was spread. GWB tried to regulate Fannie and Freddie but the Democrats blocked it, see it here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIjoW_...

Jimmy you are right about it taking longer to fix it and we need to start on November 6th by electing a proven leader and businessman to do so.

A return to Conservative and Fiscal Principles will return the country to prosperity if couldn’t I would be failing.

To continue this Progressive Transformation of America will haste our demise.

Go see 2016 Obama’s America so that you can understand Barack Obama it’s not a hit piece on him it’s more like a history lesson on him and what America will look like if he gets a 2nd term and after what he's done in his 1st I don't want him unchained for a 2nd. You won’t be disappointed. I feel sorry for him because of what he endured as a child.

Hi Funk. I always appreciate your comments. But I ain't a gonna ask you where you got your mostly favorable "facts" towards Republican Economics regarding the nation. The fact is that the Clintonian years were the most prosperous and best years of our lives. Republican Deregulation and lowering the tax on the rich is what Romney Ryan want to do. And no matter how you spin it, it is the wrong way to go.

BHO needs another spin at the wheel.

Fair enough Brother Jimmy, I agree the Clinton years were GREAT and George H.W. Bush left him a good economy to boot; however who was in charge of Congress from 1995-2000? And did Bill Clinton lower any taxes? I’m sure your correct answers will contradict your partisanship.

I agree if he wins it will be by a nose at the wire; however I expect independents aren’t fooled by the rhetoric anymore and we can possibly see a landslide by Romney/Ryan based on BHO’S performance instead of likeability and GREAT speeches.
